3. ProAV digital signage website project

3.1. Site description

3.1.1 Background information The eu-proav.ingrammicro.com website is a dedicated website for Ingram Micro’s European ProVA division. The main purpose of the site is to inform users on Ingram Micro ProAV portfolio, associated services and solution.

Currently the site provides content on 4 levels. One European level and three localized versions for UK, France, Spain. The localized version offers partially local content. For the EU page we use US-English as culture.

3.1.2 Site URLs Parameters Live URL http://eu-proav.ingrammicro.com Authoring URL http://eu-proav.ingrammicro.dmz/CMSDesk/default.aspx

Preview URL http://eu-proav.ingrammicro.dmz

3.1.3. Contacts For any question about the ProAV site please reach out to the following associates

Role Contact Phone E-Mail Content Owner EU Raj Pandya +44 (0)7825849201 Raj Pandya.ingrammicro.com Content Owner UK Nabs Hadi +44 (0)871-9733772 [email protected] Content Owner FR Larbi Amara +33 (0)7 86 00 64 96 [email protected] Content Owner ES Alex Rincón +34 934749314 [email protected] Design/functionality Alexander Toups +498942081878 [email protected]

3.2. Localization The EU-ProAV website uses multiple cultures to provide locoalized versions of the EU-ProAV-website within the same website-project. All following description will base on the European level version of the site. Read this section to lean more how localization works on the site and how to create and maintain localized version of a page.

3.2.1 Available languages of the site

If you select the list view mode from the view mode ribbon menu you’ll see a list of documents in the currently selected sub-tree of the page. In the very right column you’ll find a list of flags that indicates witch culture versions of the website are available. The background color of the flags shows the state of language version of a given page:

Green: the page is available in this culture version

Yellow: outdated

Red: not available in this language

If a page is not available in a language it will not be part of the navigation menu of the localized version of the site, even if it’s present in other languages.

In the example above the page Home is available in US, UK, FR and ES but not in SE. This mean, even so the Swedish cultured had been added to the site, there’s no Swedish version of the site because it has con available content.

3.2.2 Differences between localized pages If you compare of instance the UK-version of the ProAV site with the ES-version you’ll find – besides the language – some differences of the page.

1) The two boxes have different background images 2) UK on the left has two button boxes, ES has one button box plus an advertisement on the right

Language versions can differ or share:

Content: you can use the same or a different language or put different images in each of the versions

Template: All language version can use the same template or individual ones

Availability: A page can exist in one language but not be present in another language.

Conclusion: we can create a website with culture version that could look absolutely alike or totally different, or anything in between.

3.2.3 Switching between languages To switch from one language version of a page to another you just select the desired language in the language selector:

1) Click the large flag indicates the current version; to switch to another language select from the list 2) The little x behind the page in the tree indicates that the corresponding page is not available in the current language
