PROGRAM OVERVIEW

On-site Program

• 8 weeks

• Twice weekly sessions

• Uses exergaming systems (e.g. Wii® or Kinect ®)

• Interactive game time

• Recruit and train on-site leader (training guide in folder)

Expectations for Trainers

• Complete self-study training modules

• Participate in training workshop (3 hours)

• Complete online study questionnaires

• Host twice weekly on-site program for 8 consecutive weeks

Expectations for Trainers

• Be punctual

• Have own transportation to and from the program site

• Wear a bright colored shirt so that it is easy to distinguish you as the Trainer.

Trainers’ Safety

• LIFE Program sessions are only to be held in public places

• Use the buddy system (at least 2 trainers/site)

• Resist unwanted and inappropriate attention

• Report any misconduct of an adult immediately to a parent or other trusted adult

What about bad weather?

• If the weather is bad, cancel the program. It’s better to be safe than sorry.

• Contact your program leader and program site as soon as you decide to cancel the program.

• Choose “One player” or “against the computer”

• Choose type of play – Main Events– Party Play– Mini Games

LIFE Kinect® Routines

• Approximately 30 minutes in length– Time determined by you, the trainer

• Once Participants are comfortable with the games, the Introduction and Tutorials can be skipped (can be turned off in the My Options Menu)

• Generally, less strenuous then then the workout

• Whole body

• For ease- one participant is the onscreen avatar and everyone else follows along

• Party Play– Spices up the routine and reduces the chance

of boredom– Best option when they become comfortable

with how the game works– Computer controlled– chooses what game is

played– Alternative for a fun whole body workout

• Advise participants to work at their own pace

• Listen to the participants about level of difficulty or advise them to lower their intensity level
