PAGE 1 ST. PETER - TRAM 2014 Wednesday, July 16, 2014 St. Peter is a town of about 10,500 and it is Nicollet County’s coun- ty seat. Nestled along the Minnesota River, it is about a 15 minute drive from Mankato and about one hour from the Twin Cities. Once considered a site for Minnesota’s state capital, St. Peter has the distinction of having five Minnesota governor’s come from this city. St. Peter is the home of Gustavus Adolphus College, has a public outdoor pool, several city parks, a community center, public library, arts cen- ter, unique retail shops, restaurants and a his- tory center. All places are bicycle friendly! In 1998, an F3 tornado destroyed 153 homes, toppled 10,000 trees, totaled the library and community center and caused hundreds of millions of dollars in damage to the Gusta- vus Adolphus College campus. Two churches and many public and private buildings were also destroyed in the tornado. In the 16 years since the tornado, St. Peter has blossomed into vibrant commu- nity. St. Peter is honored to be selected as an over- night stop for the 2014 TRAM. The St. Peter TRAM committee and Chamber of Commerce hope you enjoy your stay and wish you well as you continue your journey. Welcome to St. Peter!
