Daleyisacutelyfamiliarwithwhatitmeansto be amember of The Long Blue Line.SheisthesixthBuckwelltograduatefromMariettaCollege,whichgoesbacktohergrandfather,JimBuckwell,fromtheClassof1961.
“Marietta College has made my family and me what we are today and I will always be grateful for that,” says Daley, who earned a Bachelor of Arts in International Business and Political Science. “I’m ecstatic about graduating, as I worked very hard for this day. However, I hate to leave our college community, but I will be back.”
Daley,whoplanstojointhePeaceCorpsandserveinColombiaas an English teacher, was one of about 250 students whograduated during Marietta College’s 179th CommencementceremonyintheDysonBaudoRecreationCenter.

Morgan came to Marietta because of herattraction to the Petroleum Engineeringdepartment. Originally from Hurricane, WestVirginia, she was really interested in scienceand math but after one semester in college,realizedthiswasn’tbestfitforhermajorbutfell
inlovewithMCandknewsheneededtostay.
“My involvement with Alpha Xi Delta sorority provided me with so many leadership opportunities that I wouldn’t have had otherwise. When I came to college, I was shy and didn’t want to step out of my comfort zone. MC provided a great supportive system that encouraged me to spread my wings!”

“I remember walking up the campus mall, and I knew that this was the place for me! My research experiences at Marietta were amazing. In my freshman year, I was invited to conduct research in a small group; then in my junior year, I participated in the paid investigative research project which later evolved into my Honor’s Thesis related to the effects of Citral on m624 melanoma cells.”
BlakelooksforwardtotheOhioStateUniversityfallof2016topursuea Ph.D. in Biochemistry. He is interested in a future careerwith abiotechorpharmaceuticalcompany.

“I was given full rein over the program. It was a two-year process and I learned so much about how to lead a team and work with different populations, and it was also a great time to learn more about myself and my leadership style. Yes, I was pushed to excel!”
It was actually as result of this role that GenemetMC alumAshleyWollam,whowasthekeynotespeakerforExcel.WhenGene followed up with Ashley after the conference, he saidthat he had been impressed with my skills and passion andhad referred me to Macy’s HR training program for a futureemploymentopportunity.GeneactuallybeganhisemploymentintheExecutiveDevProgramatMacy’s,basedinCincinnati,inearlyJune.
“I am most excited to move through different areas of HR and learn about how different departments function. Everything interconnects and is a part of a larger system, and now I will be able to experience this first-hand and discover what my niche is and how I can make my impact post-MC!”
