social story using your iPad.
Learn how you can use inexpensive apps on the iPad to easily create social
stories for those within the autism spectrum.

Steps to Creating Social Stories
1. Determine point, theme or purpose. Identify the skill you want to teach (e.g. going to the
restroom, walking in a line, social initiation skills) and/or define the replacement skill.

2. Capture pictures/video of pro-social behaviors.
(e.g. taking turns, sharing).

3. Reduce the words that will appear in the social story script and feature them next to the picture.

5. Publish the social story digitally...share it via iPad or computer as a video file that the parent and
staff can access.
