Questions to Ask
Is there a trend to the data?Yes, our enrolled students come and go
throughout their middle school and elementary school years at about a 5-10% transfer rate for each year
The findings from the transfer rate corresponds with the 38% of students who were enrolled in our high school that come from our three local elementary schools
Is Time Important?
According to research…. The biggest factor that contributes to a person not reaching their potential is time spent on task
When Evaluating Time Spent in the High School
Our school did an analysis of the time spent on learning throughout an average high school students’ career.
Our analysis took into consideration passing time, interruptions, lunches, pa announcements, natural classroom and instructional breaks, as well as teacher engagement time.
The Findings…
For a180-day school year at 7.25 hours of instruction per day, the average child receives 44 weeks of instruction during a four-year period.
Does time still not matter?
Time
How do you compensate for lost instructional time and control as well as, increased expectations?
What should we do? How do we create more time within our
system? How do we retain our student in order to
create a foundation? How do we change efficiently and
effectively? How do we change our instructional
practices to meet the challenge we face?
