1Transylvania (from Latin the land beyond the forest) is a triangular plateau in the heart of Romania (1,600 feet high), surrounded by the Transylvanian Alps and the Carpathian Mountains; petroleum, timber, natural gas, coal, iron ore, salt, gold, uranium, silver, manganese, copper, and over 3.000 thermal and mineral water springs; is drained by the tributaries of the DANUBE (second longest European River)
