TRAP-TITE™ TRAP SEAL

General:

The Trap Tite Trap Seal is designed to be used in conjunction with a code approved trap seal (often referred to as a P-trap) in drainage systems including floor drains. Trap Tite is available in 4 sizes: 2”, 3”, 3.5” and 4”.

Applications:

Typical applications for the Trap-Tite include 2”, 3”, and 4” floor drains, basement drains, mop sink drains, and other types of drains used in maintenance areas. The Trap-Tite blocks harmful sewer gases and/or pests from entering a finished building space in the event that the P-trap is not sealed with an appropriate amount of liq-uid.

Installation:

Trap-Tite can be installed into the drain base during construction or into the drain barrel of most floor drains after construction. To install during construction, remove drain barrel and strainer from drain base and gently push Trap-Tite into the hub of the drain. The fins on the outer edge of the Trap-Tite will keep it in place for the life of the product while the inner flaps will open when liquid is poured down the drain. Similarly, the inner flaps will close, creating a seal, when liquid is no longer being poured down the drain. Later, the barrel and strainer should be reinstalled in con-junction with the finished floor height. To install after construction or for a retrofit installation, simply remove the strainer from the drain and gently insert Trap-Tite into the barrel until the strainer can be replaced without touching the Trap-Tite. (Most cast iron drains utilize a drain barrel with a 3.5” I.D. Correspondingly, the 3.5” Trap-Tite is the best choice for installations post construction.)
