Off to the little town of San Vicente de la Sonsierra, to our hotel, Casona del Boticario. Welcome reception, dinner in the town after a walk to the top of the fortress Day 2, Sunday, May 13: Architecture in Wine 1: The winery of Baigorri, in Samaniego, spectacular creation of Basque architect Iñaki Aspiazu, with lunch overlooking the vine- yards, hills and plains where La Rioja meets País Vasc0, the Basque Country Day 3, Monday, May 14: Tradition in Wine: Remelluri, in Labastida, ancient and re- nowned winery, one of the oldest in Spain, for a tour, tasting, lunch, and a walk through the estate to see its 10 th century necropolis under the limestone cliffs of Mount Toloño Day 4, Tuesday, May 15: Cathedral Day: Burgos, in nearby Castilla y León, beautiful town with its fantastical Gothic cathedral, resting place of the Spanish warrior hero, El Cid Day 5, Wednesday, May 16: Architecture in Wine 2: Bodegas Isios in Laguardia, designed by neofuturistic Spanish architect, Santiago Calatrava, and Marqués de Riscal, Elciego, Frank Gehrys amazing contribution to the architecture of wine in La Rioja, with lunch in the acclaimed restaurant Day 6, Thursday, May 17: Wine Town Central: In Haro well visit a tiny winery, going underground. The town is famous as the center of La Riojas wine production. Well learn about the history of the region, and have a very special lunch Day 7, Friday, May 18: Tapas Day in Logroño: Called Pintxos here, this town is famous for its delicious and varied selection. Well make the most of the 50 or so possible stops Day 8, Saturday, May 19: Departure day, to Bilbao Airport*, 10 a.m. Breakfast and dinner will be enjoyed in San Vicente All meals, with wine, accommodations and aractions are included, as is transportation during the trip, om pick-up to drop-off on departure day. Airfare is not included. $3175 per person A nonrefundable deposit of $500 is requested to confirm your place. First come, first served. Travel in La Rioja, where you’ll taste the great wines of the region, both red and white, the fabulous food, surrounded by beautiful landscapes

Highlights:

Day 1, Saturday, May 12: 3:00 Pickup at Bilbao Airport*. Off to the little town of San Vicente de la Sonsierra, to our hotel, Casona del Boticario. Welcome reception, dinner in the town after a walk to the top of the fortress

Day 2, Sunday, May 13: Architecture in Wine 1: The winery of Baigorri, in Samaniego, spectacular creation of Basque architect Iñaki Aspiazu, with lunch overlooking the vine-yards, hills and plains where La Rioja meets País Vasc0, the Basque Country

Day 3, Monday, May 14: Tradition in Wine: Remelluri, in Labastida, ancient and re-nowned winery, one of the oldest in Spain, for a tour, tasting, lunch, and a walk through the estate to see its 10th century necropolis under the limestone cliffs of Mount Toloño

Day 7, Friday, May 18: Tapas Day in Logroño: Called Pintxos here, this town is famous for its delicious and varied selection. We’ll make the most of the 50 or so possible stops
