A fully hands-on curricular workshop bringing history to life in your school. FROM POOR HOVELS A HANDFUL OF PIONEERS CREATED AN INSTITUTION “to learn by discovery” The story of Victorian Pioneers who helped change our country forever. With over 30 years of experience presenting and teaching history, we can capture and hold the attention of children (and adults) who then retain what they hear and experience. Our sessions bring a richness of experience; listening , watching and participating in a mixture of short drama cameos, hands-on activities and the handling of a huge range of artefacts, and (as we learn through feedback) a great use of language in discussion afterwards. Social history is implicit in the activities, in particular with the contextualisation of artefacts and use of drama. Cross-curricular links are numerous – teachers are able to connect elements of workshops from history to , geography, art, dt, science, drama, maths, English and more... In fact we have been teaching in “Creative Curriculum” style for years now! Enthusiastic children learn and remember better! When listening, they often sit remarkably still and quiet, demonstrating a high level of involvement. Delivered by HEURISTICS www.heuristics.org.uk Email - [email protected] 07860 966251

“to learn by discovery”

The story of Victorian Pioneers who helped change our country forever.

• With over 30 years of experience presenting and teaching history, we can capture and hold the attention of children (and adults) who then retain what they hear and experience.

• Our sessions bring a richness of experience; listening , watching and participating in a mixture of short drama cameos, hands-on activities and the handling of a huge range of artefacts, and (as we learn through feedback) a great use of language in discussion afterwards.

• Social history is implicit in the activities, in particular with the contextualisation of artefacts and use of drama.

• Cross-curricular links are numerous – teachers are able to connect elements of workshops from history to , geography, art, dt, science, drama, maths, English and more...In fact we have been teaching in “Creative Curriculum” style for years now!

• Enthusiastic children learn and remember better! When listening, they often sit remarkably still and quiet, demonstrating a high level of involvement.
