• Users can hunt treasures by finding treasures through using Treasure Hunt application with

GPS

• Users can make new friends during the process of finding treasures

2 Formats of Treasure Hunt : Event and Daily Days

Event Day

• For RC(Residential College) Day-promote intimacy among students who live in dorms

• Encourage students to join by giving out presents that are essential for dormitory lives or other things that they would like to win

ex) Necessities of life such as toothbrush, toothpaste, shampoo, tissue, toilet paper

Coupons for pizza, fried chicken, coffee

• Students will be grouped randomly-more chance to make new friends

• Find treasures together-treasures in form of folded messages that gifts are written on it

Daily Day

• Once students installed the application during Event time, they can use the app for daily uses as well

• Students can play Treasure Hunt with friends or campus couples during their free time

• Participants can also earn the prizes by finding folded messages

What Problem does the System Solve?

• People spend their time in a boring, repetitive pattern.

Treasure Hunt enables users to spend their time in a productive way

• It provides various opportunities to physically engage in analogue game missions.

• People can recall their childhood while doing Treasure Hunt

• It is hard to make new friends as get older.

As people get older, the more it gets awkward when meeting with new people.

Treasure hunt creates an environment where people can become friends quickly while achieving the same goal.

• Sentimentality- Stimulates users to feel emotional compared to digital games.• The system is more physically engaging than conventional digital games, making users to engage

in the system deeply and to build meaningful experiences.

• Chances to become friends with strangers spontaneously.• For Treasure Hunt Events, participants need to cooperate as a group in order to achieve missions

together, and become friends.

• Find possible users, examine qualities/personalities through interviews• Age around twenty

• People who live in dormitories

• Sociable persons who are likely to meet friends or lovers

• Call them after the first day to check

After Participants Try Cultural Probe

• 3 to 4 Participants who can devote 2 hours and a half

• Collect additional information and overall impressions from participants

• Draw out emotions, past experiences, wishes that participants have about free time

• Use the result as a source of inspiration

Exercise 1: Collage of Past Free Times Participants collage their past free time posts on facebook. They can put the posts in order of their most favorite time to the least.

30 min Sharing Participants share their collage and explain about their decision

30 min Discussion Participants discuss about each others’work of collage and talk about the time and experiences.

15 min Exercise 2: Going back to Childhood Participants write down words or do quick drawings that come up with free time in childhood on post-its

10 min Categorizing Organizing the post-its that are related to one another on a board

30 min Discussion Sharing past experiences and emotions they had in childhood

10 min Remain talking Talking time if time lacks
