Treating a case in Homeopathy itself is a challenge and treatment and management of Skin conditions are more challenging and that too in children it is more so because –
–It is all about looks, skin diseases are seen externally and so cause a great concern for parents and patient,
–The child is normally brought to us after much suppression treatment,
–If the child is of an older age group then he /she becomes sensitive about the appearance of it and it is reflected in his/her behaviour,
I see better results when the prescription is based on Mental and Physical generalities and PQRS or Characteristics. I always try to achieve this.
In cases of children I usually try to ask the parent or observe -
“how is the complaint affecting the child”.
When the parents are describing the complaints of the child then along with this detail we also see the anxiety of parents, their irritation, fears, worries added. They will say what they did to manage the situation. And sometimes we take these symptoms for
In last 5 months he has been healthy only for 4 weeks
Nothing helped – tried many homeopathic remediesbut no long lasting relief.
She told me about his cough and its < and > and otherassociated symptoms, discharges; how he used tocough severely all 24 hrs and more at night in bed –he could not sleep; the pitiable condition he would bein etc…..
When I asked her – how is Sam when he has all this?
Male child aged 4 years was brought to me on 28th May 2012 with C/o pale discolouration around eyes.
Since February 2012 skin around eyes became dry with itching.
1st discolouration was noticed above left eye, on eyelash with itching and after 1 month, area below right eye was affected. Area above right eye was also turning pale. Angle of mouth also showed discolouration.
There were no other associated complaints.
Parents had showed the child to a Dermatologist, he said this is Vitiligo and there is nothing much he
This child gave me an impression that he is an idealchild. His behaviour was very good and he was nicewith everyone.
So that made me take the symptom of ‘Good boys’described by Dr Praful Vijaykar in which he hasincluded qualities like “obediece, nice, diligent,conscientious” and the medicines he lists against thisare – Hot remedies – bry, ars I, aur I, iod, nat I, lyc,thuj
He had coryza, dry cough in October, November due to weather; did not have fever and all this lasted for about 2 – 3 days. He was not given any medicines for that.
11 year old girl was brought on 20th October 2012 withC/o eruptions on palms, soles, hands and legs withitching, peeling of skin since Sept 2009. She had sensationof ants crawling in hands if she touches anything.
Itching < dryness of skin, touching metal, covering, sittingon floor
In May 2009 she had prickly heat like eruptions all overbody. She applied sunscreen and it reacted adversely.
In May 2010 again had similar prickly heat like eruptions on body esp. back with itching. Rx local application
< on perspiring parts of body, 12 midnight, hot bath
> Cold weather, uncovering
In 2004 when she came to Canada – in 1st winter –woolen clothes caused redness of skin.
Her Skin is sensitive since birth. Could not bear sun heat. Had dry skin.
She was shown to a dermatologist and he said it looked like Psoriasis and prescribed hydrocortisone cream to apply and that helped for sometime but the eruptions returned, so the parents thought of taking Homeopathic treatment.
Parents were asked to give more information about her -
They said - She cries frequently - She weeps if someone speak bad about her. When she tries to convince someone and if she is not able to then she cries.
She always postpones work for other day.
She is careless not worried about eruptions but she complains about itching and cries.
She likes watching tv, drawing but is lazy to do physical activities.
She is good in studies, good in math, gets above average marks.
A young boy aged 14 years was brought on 13thNovember 2014 with complaint of eruption on the body,esp limbs and slight on trunk.
History as given by mother:
Since 4 years in summer he had eruptions on face aboveright eye and upper limb and would be better in fall. Thiswas going on since 3 – 4 years but this year they went toMexico and it was very very hot there and the skinproblem became worse with excessive itching and scaling.
Rx Dovobet, Fluocinonide cream, 17 Valerated’hydrocortizone, Atarax all local application.
It is not becoming normal and skin remains dry and whenhe scratches scales fall on the ground. Wherever he issitting or standing there are scales +++ when hescratches.
So this complaint started since 2011 and has been treatedwith topical steroids.
Father has Psoriasis since about 25 years.
Past history: Flu like symptoms of sore throat, coldcough, since 1 year age – always in Sept or October. Hehad this 2 – 3 times a year till he was 10 years age.
Frequent ear infections with cold. Took antibiotic for thatand is better since last 2 years.
Since 4 year age occa. Nosebleed in summer, during sleep= about 4 – 5 times a year. Now it is decreased
Since 7 or 8 years age – headache from disturbed sleep,stress, irregularity in eating, physical exertion
He started talking at 3 ½ years age
He was hyperactive in childhood till 5 – 6 years age - as ifhe wanted to use his energy, would not stay in one place,always doing something, not destructive but playful;sleep was very less with no sleeping in afternoon.
Had headache on 3rd March whole day; on 4th was ok inmorning but headache in afternoon and nauseous. Feveryesterday 101.3. Today woke up with fever 100.5 but hewas fine, felt warm.
Pain rt side of jaw – o/e enlarged submandibularlymphnodes, painful.
Pain rt side of tongue
Feels throat sore so did not feel like drinking water

It’s irritating – looks nasty on my hands;
It doesn’t affect life but people just keep asking.
History by mother:
Since 3 years she started noticing it. It was only on nails.Uncle is a dermatologist & he gave local application whichrelieves temporarily.

He fears lightening, thunderstorm, natural disaster.
He is shy, does not want to talk to people.
He loves being with family, with mother.
He cries if he bleeds, hate to see blood.
Past history: throat infection every 3rd week – between 6months age to 3 years age. Rx antibiotics
Family history: diabetes, high blood pressure, psoriasis,fungal infection, eczema

Appetite very good, eats 4 times a day
Desires: rice+++, biryani+++, hot sause++, pickle++,spicy+++, fried++, coke++, chicken++
Aversion: sweets++
Thirst: 8 glasses of water per day
Urine / Stool: nothing specific
Sweat: +++ in general on exertion. Pillow is full of sweatwhen he wakes up
Sleep: snoring ++, not a sound sleeper.

Homeopathy can always help any patient having any disease in some way.
There is exteriorization of disease in some way when a similimum is given in most of the cases and we have to manage this exteriorization with caution. If it is understood and managed properly then cure is almost achieved.
Document before and after results of the case to understand the process of cure and management of disease and share the experience with others.
