Beyonce was one of the people who we looked at many music
videos and took lots of ideas to use for inspiration for our music video.
We noticed that a simple video with lots of split screens and cuts seemed to look the most effective when making a video. Rather than telling a story, lots of editing looks
better.
Nicki Minaj was another artist we looked at when
trying to get different ideas. We found her ‘quirkyness’
that she put into each of the video’s especially the
different wigs was something we thought looked very effective.
Having a graffiti wall as the background we both agreed that this is a very good location which many artists use. This is
something we would like to try and place in our music video.
Tinie Tempah & Cheryl Cole both used this in their recent videos.
Azealia Banks was another person we looked at for
inspiration for our music video. The video for the song ‘212’ is purely black and white which is effective. Also, as the shots are quite simple and are mainly lip
syncing it reflects what we want our video to look like. Also, we
want to do a lip syncing scene just with our artists lips.
We took ideas from Justin Biebers ft Nicki Minaj- Beauty and a Beat video for some of our shots. Justin Bieber
holds the camera and shoots himself for the majority of the song, which is
effective as it makes it look more personal and gives it the ‘self shot’
effect. Also, we liked the shot because it shows how one location can be enough to produce a good
music video. As he is near to our age, it was good to watch a successful
artist near our age and see the differences between his video and
say a more experienced, older artist like George Michael.
