2013 Joy to the World Christmas Ornament Campaign

2014 Kenya Mission Trip DatesJuly 19 - August 3 and October 25 - November 9

The 2013 Joy to the World ornament campaign made possible the distribution of much-needed supplies to 350 children at Holy Family Center right before Christmas. Along with their families, these special children were the guests of Holy Family Center for a day of fun, games, and refreshments. Throughout the day of festivities, there was also time for the children 9 and over to talk with counselors and each other about the challenges they face as AIDS patients. It was an awesome day of getting to know each other and being reminded that they are not alone in their struggles. The day ended with prayer and thanksgiving for those who gave so generously to provide for their needs and for a loving and faithful God. Amen!

If you would like to make a donation to support the many ministries of Tree of Lives, you may do so online at treeoflives.org or mail a check to Tree of Lives, Post Office Box 11390, Norfolk, Virginia 23517. Contact Becky Lyle Pinkard, [email protected], for more information.

What is a mission trip to Kenya?

• The mission trip to Kenya is a spiritual pilgrimage to draw closer to Christ as well as  serving Him through the work of Tree of Lives.

• Primarily, the trip is to experience the presence of Jesus in the midst of extreme poverty and illness.

• By participating in the work in Kenya, we are reminded to consider how Christ has called the Church to respond to the issues of AIDS & poverty.

• The real work begins upon return to the United States, as supporters and volunteers work to expand the ministry in their own communities.

If you would like more information on this amazing mission experience, from costs to what you will do once you land on Kenyan soil, please visit our website at www.treeoflives.org or contact Becky Lyle Pinkard at [email protected].

Prayer RequestAs we go to print, we ask you to pray for three children who are awaiting transport from Samburu, Kenya, in northern Kenya, to Joy Children’s Village. Samburu is a hotbed of tribal clashes, violence and starvation. Please pray that the unrest will calm long enough to allow a rescue of these three children who have been identified as the next to enter Joy Village. Their new family is waiting for them.
