and is published every two months.
At the beginning of this year we
decided to go for it and launch the
magazine we’d been picturing for so
many months, and here we are today!
With our team we will showcase what
is new in SL. TREND is meant to be a
kaleidoscope of the creativity of
people in this second life. Alongside
high quality editorial content covering
the world of fashion and beauty,
TREND Magazine offers expert tips.
In this first issue, get Tips and Tricks
from one of the best known SL
designer, join us for a fine dining
evening at the Del Vino restaurant,
review fashion and read about what is
new on the grid.
Our goal is to deliver a fun and
entertaining magazine that provides a
window into the artistry of and
personalities in fashion and one that
you will want to read our magazine
again and again. As the magazine
grows we will continue to add new
bits and pieces, such as interviews
with designers, models and other
people working in the field, fashion
resources, shopping and an events
calendar.
Who got married? Who will? Whats a
Hot Spot for fashion accessories?
How to wear a little black dress?
What are the next upcoming events?
You will find all answers in TREND.
If you like, send us your feedback or
idea, and we publish it in the next
issue in a “Readers Letters” page.
And now we wish you fun reading
and hope you enjoy what we came
up with... Read on and enjoy.

What is your secret to blending timeless and
trendy styles?
My secret ( if there is one) would be I look at things to
see if they relate to each other. One can over style and
ruin a look.
How do you recognize if something is trend
versus something that is going to last?
LOL thats Easy do you see anyone still wearing Acid
wash Jeans! Classic items are defined By Cut,
Proportions and Craftmanship.
What is your favorite source of style inspiration?
Ahh the Public Library so look at old fashion Archives
and knowing wat fits my personality. When you walk
into a room people should see you in total. Not just
what you are wearing.
What do you find most stylish in a woman?
I find that her personality is Stylish her Dialog. She
could be wearing a Flour Sack but if her
personality is Fabulous she will most definitely
standout in a crowd.
Who is the most stylish woman you know?
OMG soo Many of course the obvious would be my RL
Mom. But so many Icons i admire Daphne Guiness,
Michelle Obama, Tina Chow to name just a few.

WRITTEN BY DRAAKJE DAILEY AND CAOIMHE LIONHEART
PHOTOGRAPHY: ASIA RAE, CAOIMHE LIONHEART & THATI BOUCHER
Hi, you can call me
Keevah, or as most do Lil
Cao, moo. When I first
became serious about
modeling in Second Life
and started actually
finding designs to style, I
kept running into another
model named Draakje
Dailey. When I first met
her I vainly thought she
must be stalking me. But
after time, I realized, my
“little dragon”, as her
name affectionately means, has
been literally everywhere! I’ve heard
a rumor that she has actually even
made it to the end of the Internet!
Can you imagine? It took her four
TP’s and one crash to make it back!
So I am sure you can imagine the
usefulness of a friend with enough
knowledge I nickname her my mall
directory. So together we will be
bringing this column about the
current fashion trends, fashion finds
and just things we think are pretty
darn cool!

Hi, my name is Draakje, but most
just call me Draa or D. I'll be the
first to tell you I have a severe
shopping addiction and I love to
always share my finds with those
around me (finds as in landmarks
or store names, nooo touchy the
shoes or wee dragon will breath
fire). Running into Cao time after
time after time didnt make me think
I had a stalker, it made me think I
had found a kindred soul, someone
as passionate about fashion as I
was. And I was right! Together we
have searched, hunt down and
found some of the best items the
grid can provide and we would to
share with you all (again, the
landmarks and store names, nooo
touchy the shoes, or the bags, or
the hairs for that matter).
"I’ve heard a

The day turned out much the
same as always for me. I woke a
little sleepy, but after a double
latte and an hour fingering
through my closet, I figured out
what I wanted to wear for my
splurging day of shopping. Going
for comfort on this chilly day, I
chose .Shi’s “Atti” sweater with its
really cool leather harness, I
layered beneath for added warmth
with brown tartan tights from
Maitreya, and created a splash of
color with the addition of the
“Running Free” skirt from Emery
in a luscious pink (belt included).
To complete the chic style, I am
wearing Osmose’s “Jeux
d’enfants” hairs, a groovy pair of
*+Crie Style+* “Kabuki”
sunglasses, and Maitreya Mesh
leather boots in a scrumptious
brown.
Typical of little dragon’s, Draakje
never gets tired that I’ve ever seen.
Of course, I think anyone who can
shop 15 hours a day is an avatar
worthy of superhero status. Always
the glamor girl, Draakje has chosen
to wear the Bliss Basic Chim pants
with leg warmers and the classy
Bliss Couture Bayonne fur coat in a
lovely gray. Her hair is from the
Vaya Con Dios “Express Yourself
Collection,” her glasses Leverocci
and her dangly hooped silver
earrings are “Rinne” from the new
collection at Mandala. To complete
this uptown elegance, Draakje
carries her Lindens in the new
Gizza Mesh clutch bag in Black.
TREND Magazine 68
After a few hours and purchases
later, I do what any girl dying to
wear her new outfits does, I change
into them in the dressing room!
Going for a little more sophisticated
look I changed into H.Luzza’s
“Skidrow” dress in a warm rich
shade of brown and topped it with
the jacket from *Diram*’s “Marry the
Night.” I am all business with my
Tres Beau pinstripe leggings and
Maitreya Devi boots in brown. The
completing details for this shop ‘til
you drop outfit is hair styled by
Vanity Hair, in the “Irina” fashion,
*+Crie Style+* “Scioilto” sunglasses,
Mandala’s Kabuki necklace and an
adorable purse, Baiastice’s “All
Days” bag.
Draakje changed halfway through
the day too, it appears. What can
we say? Shopping day is like
waking up to Christmas day, only
you like all the gifts you buy for
yourself! In her second wind she is
wearing a gorgeous mesh pantsuit
called “Kelley” in velvety night
shade. This is an item from a new
design house called coldLogic. Her
sleek hair style is Lelutka’s QCX
hair in the BlondeFun shade. To
complete this stylish offering, She
has on Paper Couture’s Etched Bell
earrings, and a pair of kicky little
boots, Maitreya’s “Radical” boots in
Red Reptile. This look is perfection if you are looking for something that will
transition from day to night with ease, at night simply throw on a high
waisted jacket and you go from classy to evening elegance in the blink of an
eye!
TREND Magazine 70
Well, hours of exhaustion and
shopaholic high later, Draakje
and I did meet up with each
other. Draakje is now wearing
Gizza’s Slim jersey top in black,
a pencil thin mesh skirt in cotton
gray, with the new super glam
Gizza mesh sweater. Her
gloves, mery, also mesh, are
from Celoe, her stockings
“Caprice” are Angel Dessous,
and her boots are the Maitreya
Devi boots. To give this fab look
its finishing touches, her hair is
Baiastice “Marie” hair
attachment and some groovy
glasses from Kalnins “Rudens”.
I am dressed for a fun evening
in Hot Pink Glitter pants from
Leezu! and the fringe leather
vest in black and pink, to die for,
is from Glam Affair. My “Ikna”
crocodile purse is from Baiastice
and my jewelry from Mandala.
This hair is styled by Miamai,
the gorgeous hot pink
“Precarious Platform” shoes
were purchased at Ladies Who
Lunch. And, as the final touch,
what Cao would be complete
without the addition of “Jeweler
Horn” from a boutique jewelry
store called [E.C]? Exhausted,
the day done, I am going home
to rest up for next week!

I just wrapped up Nina Garcia's
Book of Style and it was a truly
lovely read. Nina's essentials
are womanly and include luxe
accessories. The gal certainly
has taste. And, as she puts it:
"Go a little crazy. Be a little
dramatic. Have a lot of fun." I
love it as much as the rest of her
books. This woman totally gets it,
the entire idea behind style that
is. Fashion is easy, anyone can
buy it but style is a bit tricky. Nina
Garcia totally makes the style
part accessible to everyone.
Besides a fact that her book is
awesome and fun, I wanted to
share with you a story about the
Little Black Dress (LBD) that I
came across in her book.
The LBD is the ultimate blank
canvas. It is always mysterious
and chic, understated and
provocative.
In its simplicity, it makes you look
effortlessy stylish. In its
sophistication, it makes you look
endlessly elegant. The little black
dress is the dress that is going to
let you shine. It is going to flatter
you, but it is not going to detract
from the rest of you. It lets your
hair, your accessoiries, and your
personality take center stage.
And.... omg, let's not forget the
slimming effect! The LBD is not
simply an item of clothing... it is a
concept. It is abstract, it is
universal. It means there’s one
that is perfect for everybody. In
fact, the LBD is a misnomer:
everyone wears her differently.
The Second Life Fashionista has
several little black dresses, just
as she has several ball gowns,
several pair of jeans: each is a
variation on a theme.
......
The LBD is an open secret: we
all know it will save us whatever
the situation, and whatever the
season, the time of the day, the
man ... Why? Because the LBD
is the epitome of sexy and
elegance. Which is not a
contradiction in terms.
How do we wear a LBD?
The essential look: Simplicity,
simplicity, simplicity... with a
healthy dose of elegance.
The celeb style: With huge black
sunglasses (1980s-style) and
black ballerina pumps.
Add long black gloves for winter,
and you are all set for breakfast
for Tiffany’s a la Holly Golightly.
Every woman has her LBD.
Suddenly, there it is, all alone on
the clothes rack. The perfect
LBD just made for you. There is
one in every store, boutique,
fashion fair..., waiting to become
the key item in your wardrobe.
Let me tell you the story behind
the LBD: The fashion history
credits Coco Chanel with
inventing the little black dress in
1926. It represents all that
Chanel stood for: Comfort,
practicality, and self-assured
sexiness. Yet women had been
wearing little black dresses long
before. It should be noted,
however, that it wasn’t until the
1920s that the black dress
became a fashion statement,
and not a dress simply for
practicality or mourning. And for
that, we must give it up to Mme
Chanel… When Paul Poiret
came up to her in one of her first
little black creations, he asked,
""HHooww ddoo wwee wweeaarr aa LLBBDD??""
TREND Magazine 78
“For whom, Madame, do you
mourn?” She cheekily
responded, “For you, Monsieur.”
And we should also give it up to
Mme Chanel for coming up with
the moniker of “little black dress”
while she was criticizing her
fashion rival Elsa Shiaparelli.
“Scheherazade is easy,” she
noted. “The little black dress is
hard.” … Yes the little black dress
had been in existence for
centuries, but where it was one
an item of practicality and
solemnity, it is now a sure sign of
power and sensuality. And for
that, we can thank Mme Chanel.”
In my mind, Chanel was a genius
and will forever remain my role
model and hero.
""FFoorr wwhhoomm,, MMaaddaammee,,
ddoo yyoouu mmoouurrnn??""
TREND Magazine 80
Having the ability to experience
the beauty of a little black dress
in a way that Chanel intended us
to is something that every
woman can; and without having
to dish out a down payment on a
house aka cost of a Chanel
LBD.
Finding that little black dress is
hard, but as Nina Garcia notes in
her book, it usually happens
when you least expect it. The
dress finds a girl when she is not
looking and that is exactly what
happened to me. I was browsing
through the shops new arrivals
when these beauties crossed my
hands. Although I do not need a
LBD as I have a lot, I could not
resist at how beautiful and
feminine they made me feel. A
little black dress is the forever
classic wardrobe staple. Find the
perfect one for you and breeze
through the next party. Little
Black dresses are always in
style! Classic, chic and
seasonless- the Little Black
Dress encompasses simple
elegance like no other fashion
piece.
The LBD will make you feel
beautiful and fashionable.

There is something about jeans that
gives a girl an aura of instant style.
They are simple and practical. Sexy
and perfect. Rebellious and elegant.
They are the most versatile, most
perfect item. The most alluring part
about denim is that it can dress
anything down and make even the
most uptight items look relaxed.
I know this isn’t something I’m
supposed to say in this article – but
sometimes I feel like I have too many
pairs of jeans. Not too many because I
don’t want them (clearly I can’t resist)
but too many because I have a
seriously difficult time picking out a
pair each day. Which dark skinnies?
Which color? A flare on friday? Are
boyfriend jeans appropriate for this
brunch? The crop on this pair is not
quite right…
I could go on. And on! You can file this
under „fashion-girl-problems“ for sure,
but come on! I believe that if it really
came down to it, a girl could get by on
just five pairs of jeans... but we have
so many possibilities here in Second
Life.
Let me tell you a bit about the story
behind the denim: In the 1850s, Levi
Strauss started selling rugged blue
jeans to the gold miners in San
Francisco, who needed pants that
were durable and comfortable. In
1873, Jacob Davis, and a tailor from
Reno, Nevada, contacted Strauss with
the idea to rivet the pockets to make
the design stronger. The two men went
into business, patented the improved
pants, and stepped into history. Today
after a hundred years since Strauss
and Davis took out the patent, blue
jeans have grown from being just a
practical pair of pants to being one of
the sexiest and seductive articles of
clothing imaginable.
I’m always thinking of new ways to
wear my jeans-outfits. I have fallen in
love with denim styles. Whenever I’m
dressing up to go out and I have no
clue what to wear, I reach for denim.
My favorite pair of jeans at the
moment, a silky button down and
some heels and I always feel stylish
and put together.
My philosophy is when in doubt, denim
always works.
You can wear everything from a
sequin blazer and black patent pumps
to a faux fur coat with your pair of
jeans. I’m not really a sneakers girl, so
my denim is usually on the dressier
side.
Here is some inspiration to add to your
denim wardrobe.
The designs of Coco, GizzA, Boudoir,
[LWL], BAX, Mandala amongst others
bring an unlikely sophistication to
casual denim.
So below I’ll show you how to wear
this classic denim trend for different
occasions in your second life...

A quaint 19th century renovated
Italian farmhouse stands nestled
within a lush, secluded vineyard
overlooking the sea. The stone and
brick structure is rustic, inviting, and
warm, with timbered doors inviting
visitors to come inside.
Welcome to Del Vino Italian Tapas
and Wine Bar!
Del Vino is the newest restaurant to
open its virtual doors in Second Life.
Co-owned by me, Umberto Giano,
and my managing partner Molly
Kestrel, Del Vino provides patrons
with unique, romantic surroundings
and beautifully crafted and appetizing
food. Pulling all the various elements
of Del Vino together was challenging -
the custom build, the food sculpts, the
textures, landscaping, décor and logo -
but worth all the hard work involved,
because, like in any good meal, only
the finest quality ingredients will
suffice.
THE WINE
The Del Vino vineyard produces its
signature rosso, the Sangiovese del
Boschetto. Descended from the
almost-extinct Calabrese
Montenuovo of Southern Italy, the
Sangiovese grape is thought to
have been used in wine-making by
the ancient Romans. The
Sangiovese is a great wine to savor
with the house specialty, Pizza
Margherita, or enjoyed during
scintillating conversation over tasty
tapas.
The biano, Del Vino's Pinot Grigio is
a golden white wine with a smooth
overtone, a hint of smokiness, and
delicious pear and honeydew
flavors.
The Pinot is perfect with the
assorted international cheeses and
crackers featured in Del Vino's wine
tasting experience or as a delightful
complement to a meal of light tapas.
THE FOOD
Tapas are a wide variety of appetizers or snacks, and
may be cold (such as mixed olives and cheese) or
warm (such as fried calamari). The serving
of tapas is designed to encourage conversation,
because people are not so focused upon eating an
entire meal.
In select bars, as in the case of Del Vino, tapas have
evolved into an entire and often sophisticated culinary
art. While Del Vino's tapas menu reflects recipes and
features common in traditional Italian cuisine, it also
features dishes with an international twist (such as its
ravioli lardo), designed to appeal to all lovers of fine
cuisine. Guests are also offered the House Specialty
(Pizza Margherita) or the Wine Tasting as additional
dining options.
Del Vino's sculpted food was created and arranged by
Emery Milneaux, who says, “Umberto shared real life
photos, menus, and recipes, and I quickly became
inspired. Second Life food tends to be anything but
appetizing in appearance, so I spent a lot of time
texturing and retexturing what I believe to be some of
the best food sculpts on the grid. I approached each
plate of small-bites as a canvas of sorts and paid close
attention to composition. I'm big on details, and details
are to be found on every plate, whether it's a sprig of
mint on top of our panne cotta, a waft of steam rising
from our pizza margherita's crust, or a pool of butter
pea sauce beneath our ravioli lardo.”
THE BUILD
Complementing Del Vino's menu is its
idyllic, pastoral surroundings. The
renovated stone farmhouse Del Vino
calls home is intimate and cozy, with
an atmosphere reminiscent of the old
Italian hillside restaurants. Builder
Coralie Bilasimo explains, “We had
wanted a place where conversation
among friends was just as important
as the food, and the renovation of a
century-old farmhouse fit that romantic
vision.
“Once we had decided on a hillside
setting with the grounds giving way to
the sea, it was easy to create an old
farmhouse with a renovated cellar
beneath.” Coralie's choices of exterior
textures, aged terracotta roof tiles, and
rustic sandstone and brick, relate to
and accentuate the
architectural drama of interior features
such as the plastered walls, dark
wood, exposed beams across the
vaulted ceilings, and wide open
arched windows. “Open arches and a
terrace with the view sprawling before
it became a 'must have' feature that I
really wanted to play up.”
THE DECOR
Emery Milneaux also designed the warm
and charming interior furnishings of Del
Vino. He states, “Sometimes less is more,
and such is often true with restaurant
design. I felt my job was to frame Del
Vino's beautiful stone and wood work. I
paid close attention to texture. Anything
rezzed at Del Vino has an aged,
weathered, or Old-World feel, with the
exception of the white porcelain china.”
His favorite feature, though, is the
lighting, in which he juxtaposes formal
and rustic elements - crystal chandeliers
contained within oversized, rusted
birdcages.
This juxtaposition of contrary elements is
a unifying motif at Del Vino, most evident
in the wine cellar. Reserved for large
parties, the wine cellar's antique tile floor

is warmed by a Turkish rug, and the
intensity of its vintage industrial lighting is
softened by candlelight. These seemingly
conflicting features work together to
invoke the sense that this intimate space,
which wasn't originally intended to
entertain guests, has been transformed
over the years into an inviting area.
“In the end,” Coralie adds, “the
landscaping and decor brought the vision
together. Emery played on a marriage of
old and contemporary styling that invites
you in and delights you, and Frederick
Lancaster's landscaping framed it all so
beautifully. His rural road winding along
the
hilltop, giving way to a vineyard and
rugged coastline, completed that old
world ambiance.”

MagazineRomantic, classic and tasteful. It's
perfect for a night out with the girls or
for a date with your someone special.
The setting is magnificent with
gorgeous views from the windows,
and the build and decor bring a little
piece of Italy into your Second Life.
As with everything Umberto does,
Del Vino stands up to his high
standards for quality and the
experience of dining there is one I
very much look forward to repeating.
Colleen Desmoulins of The
Loft Home"Cannot begin to tell you how
impressed I was with Del Vino, as
close to a real experience as you can
get within Second Life. The Build is
amazing and the architecture just
sets the tone for the dining
experience to come."

WEDDING BELLS DID CHIME….February 25th 2012 we saw the
wedding between October
Bettencourt , CEO of October
Studios to Ace Karlsvalt.
They joined in marriage at the Laced &
Suited Cathedral, joined by friends and
family with special mention to Paddy
Morales (Bestman) Abraxas Radixal
(Groomsman), Jamie & Haylee Davis
(Flower girls), Honoria Paine, Audrey Cresci-
Muse, Ava Jhamin and Chamonix
Bourdeaux (Bridesmaids) and Nickle
Sparrowtree (Maid of Honour).
The couple met at a Christmas Party hosted
by Ace at his castle on December 17th and
Ace knew that October was the lady for him
when he asked her to be his wife on her
birthday some two months later on February
7th. The bride was wearing a dress from
Utopia and the Bridesmaids were wearing
gowns form Mohna Lisa with jewels from
Chop Zuey. When asked about the part of
the wedding they are most looking forward
to they both agreed it will be when they say
their vows to each other.
Good Luck and congratulations to you both.

CLEO COUTURE premieres new
unique clothing collectionCLEO Couture's new line “CLEO X” is one of
the first collections of clothing that allows you,
the wearer, to give your consent to share
whether you wear them or not with someone
you choose. They have collaborated with a
premiere scripter who has created a ground
breaking exclusive technology now available
ONLY at CLEO X.
Using the RLV technology along with their
special new system, CLEO Couture has
created a collection of clothes that with no
other equipment you can consensually allow
control of your clothing to be controlled by
another person. This allows you a new way to
dress and undress yourself without accessing
your inventory along with sharing that ability
with another person. Their collections include
clothing for both men and women and are for
sale in their shop in Feyador and on The
Marketplace.
