Getting Started
To start using Trend Micro Direct Pass, you need to do three things:
1. Download and install DirectPass on your computer, phone or tablet.
2. Sign into or create your Trend Micro account.
3. Create a Master Password to secure your DirectPass data.
Then, just begin surfing, and DirectPass will save your passwords for you.
After you set up DirectPass the first time, you can install it on another device and just provide your Master Password to make DirectPass sync
everything. You can use your existing passwords, profile, and notes right away.
3
Trend Micro Account
To use Trend Micro DirectPass, you need a Trend Micro account. Trend Micro uses your account to back up and synchronize your DirectPass data, and
to reset DirectPass if you ever forget your Master Password.
If you have purchased Trend Micro software before, then you should already have a Trend Micro account. If not, you need to create one when you first
install and set up DirectPass.
To access your Trend Micro account, visit the following website:
https://www.trendsecure.com/my_account/signin/login
From your Trend Micro account, you can download and manage all your Trend Micro software, access support information, see video how-to guides,
and more.
4
Master Password
Your Master Password can encrypt your passwords, profile, and notes, preventing others (even Trend Micro) from viewing your data. It also prevents
others from accessing DirectPass when you are away from your computer.
By using your Master Password to protect all your other passwords, you can create very strong passwords for all the websites you use without having
to worry about memorizing each one.
Trend Micro does not keep a copy of your Master Password and cannot help you retrieve it. If you forget your Master Password, you will lose all
your saved DirectPass data.
Master Password Requirements
Your password must have between 6 and 20 characters.
You must use a combination of at least two kinds of characters:
Letters (A-Z, a-z,)
Numbers (0-9)
Symbols (?_!@#*-+/$%^&()={}[]\|"'?<>.,~`)
The password system recognizes the difference between upper case letters and lower case letters.
Your password may not include the following characters:
Umlaut (Ä, ä, and others) or Asian language characters (such as Chinese, Korean, or Japanese characters)
Shortcut keys, such as Ctrl+C or Ctrl+V
5
Import Passwords
If Direct Pass detects that you have passwords saved in your web browsers, it will prompt you to import them. You can also import them yourself.
To import passwords from your web browsers:
1. Click the DirectPass browser icon, and choose Import.
2. Select Remove passwords from browsers after import if you want to delete your passwords from your web browsers after importing them intoDirectPass.

icon, and choose Web Browser under Settings > Data Controls > Import.
See Import passwords from other browsers for detailed instructions.
Some browsers offer password protection. If you have protected your browser passwords with a password, you will have to remove the password
protection before DirectPass can import them.

2. Sync your device:
3. If Auto Sync is turned on (the default setting), then the device will sync by itself after a short time.

When prompted, type your NEW Master Password.
When your new Master Password is accepted, your device has been updated.

Low require your Master Password only when launching the App after ending the process in the multi-tasking tray

Auto Sync Settings
This setting lets you decide how DirectPass syncs your data with the Trend Micro cloud.
Enable to ensure you data is always up to date and backed up
Disable to conserve bandwidth and data charges
51
How DirectPass Secures Your Data
DirectPass uses 256-bit encryption to secure your data, and make sure nobody without your Master Password is able to read it-including Trend Micro.
So, your Master Password is your encryption key, and only you know it. Trend Micro does not keep a copy of it.
Trend Micro then backs up your encrypted data in the Trend Micro cloud using your Trend Micro account. When you install DirectPass on another device
using your Trend Micro account, your DirectPass data is shared with that device.
Because your DirectPass data is encrypted, you still need to provide your Master Password to access it. When your data changes, your file is updated
in the cloud, and the new file is downloaded by all your synced devices. But you will still need to provide your Master Password to unlock the updated
file on those devices.
This is why, if you change your Master Password on once device, you need to update all your devices manually-nobody but you can unlock your data
using your Master Password.
