| Exhibition guidelines Tresillian Arts Centre Securing your exhibition booking requires full payment at least two months prior to the opening date. Artists using the space at the City of Nedlands Tresillian Arts Centre accept the constraints for financial, technical, administrative and staff time under which Tresillian operates. Artists must understand what they have to do and provide before they enter a commitment to exhibit at the Tresillian Arts Centre. 1. Proposals Artists may apply to exhibit at the Tresillian Arts Centre within the allocated dates confirmed for packaged exhibitions during the year (contact coordinator for dates) by providing the following information: 1.1. An indication of the scale and size of the exhibition. 1.2. Nomination of a preferred site within the Tresillian Centre, see attached floor plan. 1.3. Nomination of a preferred time of year for the exhibition. 1.4. Appropriate documentation of the work. This can be photographs or on disc. All images should be clearly labelled. Do not submit original material. 1.5. A current curriculum vitae including address, phone number and email address. An informal interview with the Tresillian Arts Centre Coordinator Rachel Birighitti email [email protected] to discuss the proposed exhibition will be required before the proposal is accepted. Acceptance will be confirmed on receipt of the exhibition fee at least two months prior to the opening date. 2. Charges A $1,345 exhibition fee must be paid in full two months prior to the exhibition opening date and will cover provision of the following: 2.1. Use of designated area to display works for up to 10 days. Floor plan attached.

reverse. 100 of these are for the artist's invitation list.2.3.Postage of the above invitations.2.4.Printing of 100 A4 colour photocopied and stapled catalogue price lists.2.5.Use of glasses at no charge. $5 charge for breakages.2.6.Office staff to handle opening night and weekday sales.2.7.A $55 key bond is required if access to the Tresillian Arts Centre is needed outside

normal working hours. This will be refunded on return of the key. 2.8.Artist is required to open the gallery to the public over the two weekends. Instructions will

be provided on how to process payments. 3. CancellationsA $150 bond is required in advance against cancellations and damage and return of materials. If an exhibitor cancels a booking more than two months prior to the exhibition date, a fee of $50 will be deducted from the bond. In the event that an exhibitor cancels a booking within two months of the exhibition opening date all fees paid are forfeited. Cancellations must be made in writing.

4. Damage and return of materialsBond will be returned to artists at the end of their exhibition period assuming:

4.1.All chairs and tables are stacked in the designated areas and all terms under item 8 are complete.

4.2.Area has been cleaned every Sunday evening during the exhibition period.4.3.Any damage has been rectified to the original condition.

5. Sale of works5.1. In the case where exhibitors wish to sell their work, sales will be taken at the office on the

opening night and weekdays between 9 am and 4 pm. A 25 per cent commission fee will be deducted from the selling price advocated by the exhibitor. Commission is paid on sales during the exhibition period and on exhibited artwork sold within 20 days of the exhibition ending.

5.2.Exhibition sales are treated as goods sold on consignment, therefore the City of Nedlands is not responsible for GST. If your business is registered for GST, you will have to account for the GST on the sale of the artwork.

6. Installing and demounting exhibitions6.1.The Centre Coordinator retains curatorial right over all work exhibited. 6.2.Artists are responsible for the installation of their work. 6.3.Display equipment and resources are limited and subject to availability. 6.4.Tresillian Arts Centre staff are able to offer advice on general installation and hanging

matters.6.5.Arrangements for hiring and insuring additional equipment are the responsibility of the

artist who is also liable for the cost of hiring.6.6.Artists should meet with the Centre Coordinator well in advance of their exhibition to

discuss installation and exhibition requirements.

7. Occupancy7.1.The period of occupancy is inclusive, beginning and ending on the agreed dates. 7.2.Artists are required to ensure that the exhibition space is in a clean state for public

viewing.7.3.Following the demounting of an exhibition the exhibition space must be returned to its

previous state.7.4.Any damage must be reported to the Centre Coordinator who will arrange repairs. The

exhibitor is liable for the cost of any repair necessary. 7.5.Exhibitions finish on Sundays at 4 pm. The rooms used must be cleared by 8 am on the

following Monday.

8. CleaningRooms are to be left in a clean and tidy condition at the end of each day. Cleaning should include:

8.1. Emptying bins. Waste and recycling bins with yellow lids are located off Edward Street.8.2. Wiping surfaces.8.3. Sweeping and vacuuming floors.8.4. Ensuring all chairs and tables are stacked in their storage locations (see item 15).8.5. Returning hanging devices and ladders to their storage locations.

On completion of cleaning the exhibitor shall ensure that all lights, heating and cooling units are turned off and that the building is secured. It is the exhibitors’ responsibility to provide all the necessary cleaning products and equipment needed to comply with the cleaning requirements.

9. EquipmentArtists must supply their own tools.

10.StorageThe Tresillian Arts Centre is unable to offer any storage facilities. The exhibitor must remove all works and packing materials immediately after the exhibition.

11.LightingThe Tresillian Arts Centre has adjustable lighting in most areas.

12.Hanging12.1. The Tresillian Arts Centre provides adjustable hanging lines and hooks suitable for use

with the fixed picture rails. Other display methods may be necessary for some works and should be discussed with the Arts Centre Coordinator.

12.2. Rectangular plinths and lockable display supports are available subject to availability. The artist may need to touch up any visible marks on plinths. The Tresillian Arts Centre will supply the paint.

13.Conditions of installation13.1. No rental is charged to the artist. However, all costs relating to the artwork including

freight, transport, materials, labour and insurance are the responsibility of the artist. Freight costs to and from the Tresillian Arts Centre are to be met by the exhibitors. The Tresillian Arts Centre covers electricity and routine cleaning 7 days a week.

13.2. Exhibition space is provided in existing condition. Further requirements for display must be approved by the Centre Coordinator and provided by the user.

13.3. Access to the Tresillian Centre is during normal working hours 9 am and 4 pm Monday to Friday. Extended access over normal working hours can be arranged with the Centre Coordinator. In the case of an extension, a refundable key bond of $55 is required.

14.Publicity, advertising and documentation14.1. The Tresillian Arts Centre provides guidance on effective publicity strategies and will

promote the exhibition to members and visitors. 14.2. Supply the following information as soon as possible for promotion purposes:

The name or title of the exhibition. The name of the artist. A brief description of proposed exhibition. Curriculum vitae or artist's statement. Support material including press reviews, details of previous work and previous

catalogues Minimum of three colour photographs. Images must be clear and high contrast for

reproduction in print media.14.3. Invitations: the Tresillian Arts Centre will arrange design and printing of 1100 DL size

invitations in full colour on one side and black on the other side. Invitations are sent to members and the Tresillian Arts Centres mailing list. Any special invitations are the responsibility of the user. Postage costs of 1000 invitations will be covered by the Tresillian Arts Centre. 100 invitations are available to exhibiting artists for personal use and can be distributed by the Tresillian Arts Centre. Posters are the responsibility of the exhibitor.

14.4. Catalogues and labels: Photocopied A4 sheet catalogues require title, media, and price details to be submitted to the Tresillian Arts Centre through email or disc 14 days prior to installation. The production of 100 catalogues is included in the exhibition fee and further catalogues can be organised on request.

14.5. Openings are the responsibility of the user by prior arrangement with the Tresillian Arts Centre. The Centre may supply glasses for wine, champagne and soft drink at no charge (breakages $5 per glass). Catering for openings can be arranged by the Tresillian Café at the Tresillian Arts Centre on request, costs apply.

14.6. Credits: exhibiting artists must include the following on all advertising publicity and promotional material: City of Nedlands logo (use must be approved by the City). Tresillian Arts Centre title. Tresillian Arts Centre contact details. Tresillian Arts Centre opening hours.

14.7. Documentation: the Tresillian Arts Centre carries out a general documentation of exhibitions for archival purposes. Specific documentation is the responsibility of the exhibitor.
