LEE UNIVERSITY

Faculty and Student

Facilities

Cleveland, Tennessee Tri-Con has not only assisted

the university with their need

for additional on-campus resi-

dential facilities, but has been

heavily involved with the tran-

sition from Lee College to Lee

University and the expansion

and addition of numerous pro-

grams and degrees at Lee Uni-

versity.

One of the centers of student life

is the Paul Conn Student Union

building. The lower level of this

facility provides students and

faculty with the campus post of-

fice, the campus bookstore, the

commuter services area, and the

publications lab and offices.

The first floor features a large

student lounge with an adjacent

computer area, the campus

store, and a food court. The

second floor is dedicated to flex-

ible meeting room spaces and

individual offices.

The School of Music, located on

Parker Street, is the center for

the various music-related cur-

riculums on the campus.

Residential Projects

Bowdle O’Bannon Men’s Dormitory (130 Units)

Lee University and Tri-Con,

Inc. have a long standing rela-

tionship as Tri-Con, Inc. has

provided the construction ser-

vices for Lee University for two

decades.

Located only one block north of

the main campus, Tri-Con, Inc.

provides excellent client service

during the design and construc-

tion phases of the projects.

As the student population at the

university has grown during the

past decade, Tri-Con has as-

sisted the university in expand-

ing the dormitory and apart-

ment facilities along the main

boulevard, Parker Street. Each

facility has maintained the ex-

terior materials of the campus

and have been integrated into

the campus with beautifully

landscaped plazas, planting ar-

eas, and streetscapes.

Whether the projects have had

architectural services through

ArCon or the design services

have been subcontracted, Ray

Conn has worked directly with

the university administration to

develop the overall program as

well as the conceptual plans and

elevations to provide to the ar-

chitect.

Through this process, the de-

sign concepts and school image

have been maintained, while the

school has the advantage of an

integrated system in which the

architect and contractor are in

the same office. The benefits

to the Owner include better co-

ordination between the architect

and contractor, better cost esti-

mating and budget analysis

from the onset of design, and a

one-point contact firm that will

guide the Owner through a

project from inception to time

of occupancy.
