Please note: As a result of more stringent legal regulations and judgements regarding product liability, we areobliged to point out certain risks that may arise when products are used under extraordinary operatingconditions.
The mechanical design is based on the environmental conditions as stipulated in ETS 300 019-1-4, whichincludes the static mechanical load imposed on an antenna by wind at maximum velocity. Extraordinary operat-ing conditions, such as heavy icing or exceptional dynamic stress (e.g. strain caused by oscillating support struc-tures) or vortex-induced across-wind vibration may result in the breakage of an antenna or even cause it to fall tothe ground. These facts must be considered according DIN 4131 annex A2 or EN 1991-1-4 part 1.4 during the siteplanning process. The installation team must be properly qualified and also be familiar with the relevant national safetyregulations. The details given in our data sheets have to be followed carefully when installing the antennas andaccessories. The limits for the coupling torque of RF-connectors, recommended by the connector manufacturersmust be obeyed.
Any previous datasheet issues have now become invalid.

Description
General DescriptionTri-sector antennas consist of the antenna area and the service area. The antenna area contains three antenna systems aligned at 120° to each other. The service area permits access to the HF connectors of the antenna system as well as the adjusting mechanism for the electric down-tilt.Components additionally needed, such as a remote control unit (RCU), multipack tower-mounted amplifier (MPTMA), double tower-mounted amplifier (DTMA) or a power splitter, can be installed in the service area. The service area is closed off by a sliding cover. The connection area of the antenna, on the load-carrying base supplied by the customer, is constructed such that the antenna can be turned continuously through 360° for alignment purposes before final instal-lation.
This handbook describes the antenna type 800 10270. In general, it also applies to other tri-sector antennas.

Description

Painting instructionsKathrein antennas should be painted according to our paint-ing instructions. Here you will find several special notes that must be observed for the tri-sector antenna.
NoticeTo avoid invalidating the warranty, the Kathrin painting instruc-tions must be strictly adhered to.
The customer is responsible for the quality of painting.
Several locations require special painting of the anten-nas and of the location itself. Kathrein antennas possess a trouble-free glass fibre surface that accepts paint well. Thin paint layers have little effect on the electrical properties.
For visual reasons, the colour of the base station antennas must often match that of the environment. Kathrein antennas are es-pecially suited for long-life paints, since the visible parts (antenna radoms) are generally made from glass fibre reinforced plastic (polyester), to which paint adheres well. A thin paint layer has only a negligible effect on the electrical properties of the antenna.
General Comments• Antennas must be treated as highly sensitive devices.
They require suitable treatment during handling and transport (see instructions on packaging).
• We recommend that painting is carried out by a qualified special-ist company, painting on site is also possible (and allowed).
• Commercially available one- or two-component paints are suitable. The manufacturer’s instructions for use and pro-cedures must be observed. Metallic-effect paints, or those containing metal components, are not permitted.
53
Mounting
Preparing and carrying out the painting
• The surfaces that are not to be painted must be masked off. In detail, these are:
- all components relevant to the electrical functioning of the antenna in the interior of the service area
- the lightning rod and the threaded hole in the antenna cover for lightning rod attachment
- the EPDM seal affixed to the edges of the service area cover
- the service area cover snap locks, if their functioning would be affected by painting
- the steel flange on the bottom of the service area (area of contact with the customer-supplied base)
- all type plates and/or installation instructions attached to the antenna
• Painting of the service area cover should be carried out by a qualified specialist company. Before doing so, the surface must be slightly roughened and completely free of grease or dust. A polyurethane-based two-component paint is to be used.
• The surfaces must be treated beforehand in accordance with the paint manufacturer’s instructions.
• The paint is to be applied in accordance with the paint manufacturer’s instructions.
• The maximum permissible hardening temperature is 70°C.
