Triangle Area Ostomy Association
February 2014
President’s Message: Many thanks to the eighteen people that came to our January meeting despite the extremely cold weather. We had a great presentation on ConveTec products by Myar Houser, local ConveTec representative. Please mark your calendar for our February meeting to be held on February 4th. The program will be Brad Breeding who will discuss continuing care retirement centers---CCRC's. While you may not be looking at one for yourself, you may in the future have a relative---parent, grandparent, uncle or aunt--that needs to consider this. Brad's presentation will cover the various types of CCRC's. You may wish to consider bringing your spouse or any friend that would be interested in the program Best wishes, Sam Bundy, President [email protected]

MINUTES OF THE JANUARY 7, 2014
MEETING OF THE TRIANGLE AREA OSTOMY ASSOCIATION
President, Sam Bundy, called the meeting to order at 7:30 pm following the social gathering of eighteen
members and visitors. A special thanks to Jeff Burcham for providing the delicious refreshments for the meeting.
Sam expressed thanks to the people there for coming out on such a cold night. He explained that if the Wake
County Schools were in session that TAOA meetings WOULD NOT BE CANCELED or POSTPONED. There would
be too many problems with trying to reschedule a meeting. He also said that secretary, Bonnie Sessums, treasurer, Ruth
Rhodes, and vice-president, Sam DeAngelo, were sick and unable to attend the meeting. Jeff Burcham mentioned to the
group that TAOA member, Billy Adams, had heart surgery before Christmas, but is doing well at home now.
Professional Advisor, Stephanie Yates, WOC Nurse, announced that there would be a training program on
Saturday, Feb. 22, from 9 to 12 at Rex Hospital. This program is for TAOA members that would be willing to work
with those persons who are scheduled to have surgery for an ostomy or who have just had surgery.
Sam also indicated to members that the February program would be Brad Breeding, who is the president of
LifeSite Logics.
The program for the evening was the local representative with ConveTec, Myra Houser. Myra gave a very
informative presentation on ConveTec products as well as products that the company is working on for this year. She
also indicated that the ConveTec facility in Greensboro is going to start offering tours and the group hopes to be able to
go to Greensboro for one some time.
In closing, Sam thanked Myra for the informative presentation. Following the meeting, product samples and
brochures were on display and Myra remained available to answer individual questions.
Jack Lilie will provided refreshments at the February meeting.
Respectfully submitted, Sam Bundy, TAOA President
