Light does more than simply illuminate things.

That's why we create more than just light.

The sun is the source of life. Its influence, however, extends far beyond instilling life. Its light affects well-being,

moods and health – it makes us happy and gives us unforgettable moments. Its influence on people is immeasurable.

These positive effects of natural light serve as a benchmark for us in everything we do. And thanks to the latest

technology and intelligent lighting solutions, we are now able to create artificial light that does more than just illuminate

an area. We produce light that brings everything within the realm of possibility and which makes the fascinating

effect of natural light more accessible than ever before.

A smart design includes a balanced

interplay of inspired styling, superior

materials and excellent workmanship.

If the design is to offer more than

just beauty, i.e. timelessness, aesthetics,

or perfection, it must interact with

its surroundings.

Subtly and harmoniously accentuating

and completing an architectural vision

in terms of a holistic room concept.

Each and every TRILUX luminaire

is designed with this principle in mind.

Resulting in a design that allows

our TRILUX luminaires to have an

incredibly positive influence on the

entire room. Just like the light that

they create.

A good design is subtle and yet unforgettable.

The effect that light has on people is indescribably tremendous. Light colour and intensity affect our well-

being and our ability to concentrate. Nowadays, we are able to enhance this effect more than ever before.

Innovations in medical technology allow for delivering lighting that is ideal for people in every setting

and situation. For medical applications our engineers did not limit themselves to just supplying ideal light,

however. Our idea to integrate all relevant supply elements for patient care into one system led to the first

Medical Supply Unit (MSU) in the world in 1962. Today, MSUs are much more sophisticated, ergonomical

and thought-out. The underlying idea still has remained the same over the years: thousand ideas in one.

And that also applies to the fact that TRILUX is still several steps ahead of the competition in this segment.

For medical applications, our developers had

a unique idea: thousand ideas in one.

Like good light, which provides far more than just illumination, architecture is much more than rooms to live in.

Architecture can inspire and astonish. Architecture forms the framework of work and life. And architecture

must fulfil important tasks, especially in medical applications – where utility is of utmost importance. Whether

patient rooms, intensive care units or operating theatres, architecture is nothing, if it is not presented in the

right light. The Charité in Berlin, MD Anderson Clinic in Madrid and Prince Sultan Airbase Hospital Al Kharj are

only three examples of high-functioning hospitals that form a perfect symbiosis of aesthetics and utility thanks

to TRILUX Medical Systems.

Good architecture follows a vision. TRILUX light follows good architecture.

The right light can even make people healthy by creating the ideal visual conditions for a doctor, or by supporting

a patient's recovery – with perfect light atmosphere, or just by making sure that patients and hospital staff

feel good. As the inventor of the Medical Supply Unit (MSU) TRILUX is well aware of patients' needs and thus

makes everything that is essential and vital to a patient's health available right at their bed. After all,

Good light is essential.

a TRILUX MSU does not only deliver light, but also all the necessary

media with connections for electricity, medical gases, nurse call

systems and data transfer – everything from a single location. Even

outside of a hospital room, TRILUX creates the perfect conditions.

TRILUX Medical Systems has

the ideal solution for wherever

there is a need for light in a

hospital.

Even vital in some areas.

We may not be able to decide which light is the best for an operating theatre. But we can deliver it.

Creating the perfect light situation in an OT is one of the greatest challenges for a luminaire

manufacturer. After all, a well-lighted operating theatre allows the surgeon to make safe and

correct decisions. The lighting solutions from TRILUX for the operating theatre and periphery

are as multi-faceted as the tasks that doctors and their assistants face when operating. From

luminaires with 100% white light for conventional operations and 5% green light for microinvasive

surgery through to RGB colour light control for operations, when the patient is conscious – TRILUX

offers the perfect light system for all lighting tasks in operating theatres. And even individually

for all types of operating theatres and individually for all medical applications that take place

there. In other words, TRILUX OT luminaires are as individual as the people who enter these

areas for the sake of their health.

TRILUX Aurinio LED OT Light

For optimum operating conditions.

The futuristic design of the TRILUX LED OT Light is proof enough that it is an exceptional lighting

solution. Its most important feature are its LEDs. On the one hand, its cool light protects the

patient's tissue from drying out and provides optimum work conditions for the surgeon. On the

other hand, the Power LEDs are extremely low-maintenance and reliable which last much longer

than other light sources, while providing a very high luminous efficiency. Last but not least, their

compact size make the TRILUX LED OT Light especially small, flat and streamlined – which in

turn gives it its distinctive and justifiably futuristic appearance.

Page 12: Trilux_OT_Systems_GB

"New light" for the future in the OT

TRILUX Aurinio LED.

• Cold infrared-free light

At the head area of the surgeon allowing for fatigue-free operating and prevents tissue

from drying out in the OT field.

• Shadow-free illumination

The relation between light body and light field diameter guarantees an optimum

illumination of the OT field in terms of area and depth.

• High luminance with optimum colour rendering

Designed to provide a light output with a colour rendering index and colour temperature

which is very close to natural daylight. This helps the surgeon to distinguish between

pathological and healthy tissue in relation to his/her own memory index.

• Optimum design for clean air ceilings (Laminar Air Flow)

Flow-optimised light head and reduced surface temperature minimise turbulence in

laminar air flow.

• Ergonomic product design adapted to the work conditions of the OT

Easy positioning of the light by the surgeon using the central sterile handle

or by OT personnel using the four handles on the outside of the light body.

Optimum lighting for surgery

LEDs have a service life that is approx. 20

times greater than halide lamps. For instance,

it is necessary to change the lamps, based on

an average burning life of ten hours a day,

once every 7 to 8 years instead of every 4 to 5

months.

Comparison of service life of lamps

Conventional light source LED light source

LED́ s – The technology of the future in OT

Colour temperature and

colour rendering index (CRI)

The LED OT Light delivers a brightness that

usually occurs at noon on a sunny summer

day, i.e. 100,000-160,000 Lux with a colour

temperature of 4,700 K.

Colour rendering index is approx. 95 and

for the entire dimming area.

The human eye is optimally adapted to natural

sunlight. Daylight-like colour temperature

allows for compensating the images stored

in the memory of the surgeon with actual

conditions in the OT field and is thus an

important requirement for surgeons when

operating with the right situation. For instance,

an operating field illuminated with 4,700 K

offers better conditions for seeing than

lighting solutions with 3,300 K.

Moreover, high colour temperatures reduce

the release of melatonin distribution in the

human body and allow the surgeon to work for

more hours free of fatigue.

Standard colour chart as per CIE

Operating field at 4700 Kelvin Operating field at 3300 Kelvin

Due to the LFL lens combination developed

by TRILUX, the primary optics guides the light

in parallel, while secondary optics ensures

beams of coherent light. The results—an

excellent illumination of the OT field in terms

of area and depth.

Primary optics with LFL lens combination

Luminaires with LED technology are extremely

efficient due to the compact design of the

lamp and due to the direct reflector-free

light extraction. The efficiency factor is

twice as high as in luminaires equipped with

incandescent lights.

LED́ s in OT – Modern technology without any compromises LED́ s – Symbiosis of technology and hygiene

The housing of the LED OT Light is flow

optimised. Studies show that turbulence

is reduced by spherical-type and surface-

reduced designs.

A sophisticated thermal management system

minimises surface temperatures.

These features and IP 54 degree of protection

make the LED OT Light the ideal product for

use in operating theatres with laminar flow

ceilings and while observing stringent hygiene

requirements.

TRILUX Aurinio Halogen OT Light

For optimum visual conditions – at any time and in every operating theatre.

No matter in what type of OT it is intended to be used, the TRILUX Halogen OT Light always excels

thanks to its extremely high illuminance. Shadow-free light and a clear visibility of deep

cavities in the body provide the surgeon with optimum visual effectiveness in the operation field

at all times. In case of bulb failure an automatic bulb replacement is activated. After operation a

warning light on the control panel is a reminder that the failed bulb needs to be replaced. With four

different wattages and two different sizes this light is suited for every application. It is extremely

flexible when it comes to the conditions of the surrounding room. For instance, the light may be

installed on ceilings and walls or used as a mobile stand with castors. Finally the option of equipping

the light with two different video cameras allow for documentation of operations or participation in

video conferences with external surgeons – always in the picture: a well-lighted operation field.

Fidesca PM cleanroom luminaires

For fulfilling all requirements of modern OTs.

Flexibility is top priority in an operating theatre, and for the Fidesca PM. After all, it is not only suited

for conventional operations, but also for microinvasive surgeries by providing 100% white light and

2 to 5% green light. Moreover, dynamic colour light control is also possible: Equipping the luminaire

with red, green and blue light creates a relaxed and reassuring atmosphere for patients undergoing

operations with local anaesthesia.

When it comes to flexibility, usability is another important factor besides the selection of the light:

Individual luminaires and even individual lamps within the luminaire may be controlled via analog or

digital bus systems and connected to the central OT control system in case of integrated OT systems.

Last but not least, the TRILUX Fidesca PM remains variable in terms of its light distribution:

narrow-angle, wide-angle or asymmetrical, and is continually adjustable and individually adjustable

for every individual lamp of a luminaire – which does distinguish it from all comparable luminaires.

TRILUX Medidrant - supply systems for the OT

For greatest possible ergonomics at work.

A supply system from TRILUX provides surgeons, anaesthetists and other medical personnel with

everything that needs to be within reach in an OT: all media like power supply, communication

technology, data transfer and medical gases, the interfaces of which can be positioned wherever

they are needed at a given time. A wide variety of accessories also ensures that there is sufficient

storage space and room with panels, drawers and equipment shelves. Medical devices and

instruments can be integrated in such a flexible and application-oriented manner that they do

not pose a handicap for mobile operating tables and instrument trays. That shows: supply systems

from TRILUX make sure that everything is exactly where it is needed in every OT.

Page 24: Trilux_OT_Systems_GB

TRILUX Medidrant media-bridge IS 500 OP

For complete supply in extremely sensitive OTs.

The IS 500 OP supply system combines lighting, media supply and clean air equipment in a

perfectly matched system. The possible combination with a laminar-flow supply air ceiling for

turbulence-free displacement current delivers an extremely high air purity in the operating

theatre and periphery and is ideally suited for operations where the reduction of germs plays

an important role. In this case, air flow is stabilised by using clear panel infills above the media

bridge – and thus is not influenced by media supply system situated on the sides of the bridge.

The IS 500 OP makes every OT into an extremely flexible room in terms of usage: Patented

swivelling corners ensure that fully loaded equipment carriers may move easily so that

the task area of the surgeon and anaesthetist is variable.

TRILUX Medidrant Pendants

For optimum care of patients and optimum arrangement of task area in OTs.

This system fulfils the high standards for the ergonomics of a surgeon's work area perfectly:

A ceiling-mounted support saves on floor space and thus ensures great movability of equipment

and personnel. The ceiling-mounted supports can be rotated and adjusted in height to a

certain degree. This consequently ensures that the position of medical devices and instruments

is flexible and that the cables/hoses to patients are short.

The wide variety of possible equipment options and versions of the TRILUX Pendant make sure

that the workplace layout is optimal for flexible OT use or even in the case of unfavourable room

conditions, ensuring the most important factor of all: an optimum, individual care of patients

in the operating theatre.

Ergonomic media supply in the OT

TRILUX Medidrant Pendants.

• Easy to expand

High degree of flexibility due to expandability in terms of equipment options.

• Safe when in use

The pneumatic brake is used to secure the system and prevent any accidental movement

of the ceiling Pendant.

• Variable equipment options

Variable placement of shelves to ensure adaptability to the various requirements in OT.

• Saves floor space

Cables and hoses no longer lay on the floor. This greatly reduces the risks of tripping

and makes it easier to clean operating theatres quickly.

• System integration

Integration of anaesthesia equipment with built-in lift system (depending on manufacturer).

Positioning options

Single and double-arm Pendant are installed

depending on the given conditions and the

individual requirements in the operating

theatre. A ceiling supply system with two-part

arm can not only move along a circular curve

and rotate on its own axis, but may also be

flexibly positioned at any point of a circular area.
