IMPORTANT MEETING!

There will be a Forum onSunday, OCTOBER 14, from 9-10 a.m.

to discuss "Sharing a Priest:Pros, Cons, Blessings, and Concerns"

The Vestry has decided to continue to pursueThe Rev. Phil Bjornberg's application for Half Time

Missional Priest. Our next step will be to work with thevestry of Trinity Portland to decide what sharing a priestwill look like. Once we have this formal Covenant

approved by ECCT, we will work with7hil on creating aLetter of Agreement that is satisfactory to him,

Holy Trinity and ECCT.

At this time you can ask questions about theprocess and/or about what sharing a priest

with another parish might look like.

The Vestry would like to thank the Transition Teamfor their hard work and dedication to the Church of theHoly Trinity, preparing the portfolio and participatingin interviews and discussion. Your service to

our community has been invaluable.

4 TRINITY TRUMPET / OCTOBER 2018

Stewardship is...

ALL that we do, with ALL that we have,ALL the time.

What is Stewardship? Stewardship is …Everything I do after I say, “I believe.”

GODcalls us to share in God’s mission of caring for the world, using allthe gifts God has given us. We are stewards, caretakers of God’s gifts.Everything we have was a gift from God, and God asks us to use it all for

God’s purposes. Generosity flows naturally out of our gratitude for the gift oflove, family, and life itself.

In the church, we are stewards of the good news of God’s love for us in JesusChrist. We are called to share that good news with new generations. But welive in a world where sharing that news is becoming ever more challenging. Inorder to share the good news, we need financial and other resources.

Our worries about stewardship tend to focus on money. But stewardship is allabout mission. I am convinced that Church of the Holy Trinity is doing God’smission, and that truly transforms lives and our community. Each one of usneeds to be an integral part of that mission … heart, mind and body. That iswhat Stewardship is about.

Stewardship isn’t …+ Fundraising.+ Paying the light bills or maintaining a building.+ Paying a decent staff.+Meeting the budget.+ Keeping the church alive.+ Paying our fair share of the dues.+ Passing on a legacy to our children. (continued on next page)

OCTOBER 2018 / TRINITY TRUMPET 5

Stewardship is …+ Sharing in God’s mission with a glad, generous and grateful heart.+ Transforming lives in our community.+ Prayerfully responding to God’s call.+ A deeply spiritual matter.+ Something that blesses the giver more than the receiver.Stewardship is discipleship; it is a complete reorientation of our lives towardGod, who calls us through Jesus Christ.

Stewardship is… Everything I do after I say, “I believe.”

“The most familiar icon of Halloween isthe jack-o-lantern. Various authoritiesattribute it to either Scottish or Irishorigin. However, it seems that it was usedas a lantern by people who traveled theroad this night, the scary face to frightenaway evil spirits who might otherwiselead one astray. Set on porches and else-where, they cast the same spell of protec-tion over the household.”
