Update from the Family Faith Formation Coordinator
Greeting Trinity congregation! We have been extremely busy planning
for the start of the FFF season. The teachers attended workshops and
prepared their classrooms for the first day of class. We are trying some-
thing new for Sunday morning Family Faith Formation. Every first Sun-
day of the month are FFF students will sing at the worship service. After
the worship service the congregation along will our FFF families will
meet in Trinity Hall for Family Sunday. Our first Family Sunday will be
October 2nd. Corky and Trish Stanley will be in the contact people for
this first Family Sunday. Ann Goodmanson is the coordinator for all of
the family Sunday’s so please contact her if you are interested in helping
out. The theme for the first Family Sunday is “Noah’s Ark”. Planning
is also underway and I am sure it will be a blast! The other change to
Family Faith Formation on Sunday’s is how class will be laid out. Every
Sunday, excluding family Sunday’s, children will meet in the sanctuary
for a large gathering. This large gathering will include an introduction to
the lesson for that day through skits, music, and bible stories. The stu-
dents will then meet with Nancy for singing. All of the classes will be
dismissed to their classrooms at 11:00 am to do small group activities.
FFF classes will be done at 11:30 just like in the past. This is something
else we are super excited to try. Myself and Charla will be available in
FFF office most Sunday’s during FFF time in case you have any ques-
tions.
Other opportunities that we will be working on include a mothers group,
Faith Milestone classes, older teen/young adult group, and much more!
Please let me know if you are interested in helping with any of the
“Spokes” that we are working on as a committee.
I would like to thank everyone who has already committed in helping us
strengthen Family Faith Formation at Trinity!
Gods Peace, Kim Nelson, Family Faith Formation Coordinator
First Sunday of Faith Formation Classes
If I could pick three words to describe my first half month with our
family at Trinity, they would be: Whew!, Excitement, and Holy Spir-
it!
Whew! What a whirlwind! The boys and I joined Steven on August
24th after saying goodbye to our Ohio friends and packing up the
house. We haven’t even lived in Minnesota a month as I write this,
but we are enjoying our time. There’s a lot to do personally: get a new
driver’s license, sell our home (which we did!), and get the boys
ready for school.
There’s a lot to do at Trinity Lutheran Church. I’m taking until Janu-
ary to meet our family at Trinity. This is also a good time for you to
meet me—Pastor Eileen. Every church has their own culture and their
own ways of doing things. Please give me your patience as I learn
yours. I am working on learning all your names, but if I have a puz-
zled look on my face, please help me out.
Excitement! There is a lot of excitement at Trinity Lutheran Church.
Thank you so much for your fantastic welcome. Family Faith For-
mation is getting going. Sunday classes are rolling. Bible study is be-
ginning this month. Wednesday meals have begun again. Worship and
music is praising God.
There is a lot of energy flowing. Can you feel it?
I believe the energy is the Holy Spirit moving us along. Sometimes
the Holy Spirit guides us. At other times, the Holy Spirit sets a fire
under us to move us. I believe both are happening right now at Trinity
Lutheran Church. We pray for the Holy Spirit’s guidance and I defi-
nitely feel the fire of the Holy Spirit to move us.
Where is the Holy Spirit directing us or pushing us? I don’t know, but
I do know that it will strengthen our relationship with God and each
other. I do know that it will push us to help our neighbors and those in
need. I do know that it will lead us to worship. I do know that it will
guide us in our study. I do know that it will be to the glory of God.
Thanks be to God.
Message from Pastor Eileen
Family Faith Formation
On behalf of the FFF/Education committee I would like to welcome Pas-
tor Eileen to our Church Family. I personally Cannot wait to see all the
new ideas and experiences she brings with her.
I prayed for inspiration this morning and the one thing that keeps coming
to mind is my favorite sermon, which I heard while on a men’s retreat
with the Albert lea Salvation Army.
A gentleman I met there was a former convict who, just a few years be-
fore had been sitting in lockup waiting for his trial.
This gentleman was visited in prison by a local pastor who prayed with
him and helped him to accept Jesus into his life. Within a week after ac-
cepting Jesus, the prosecutor decided there wasn’t enough evidence to go
to trial and dropped all charges. Some people might think this just a coin-
cidence but this man took it as a sign from God and has devoted his life to
helping others turn their life around. That is how I met him at this men’s
retreat. He was teaching a class on the sermon “A day at the Potters
house”.
Isaiah 64:8 But now, O LORD, thou art our father; we are the clay, and
thou our potter; and we all are the work of thy hand.
Jeremiah 18
At the Potter’s House 1 This is the word that came to Jeremiah from the LORD: 2 “Go down to the potter’s house, and there I will give you my message.” 3 So I went down to the potter’s house, and I saw him working at the
wheel. 4 But the pot he was shaping from the clay was marred in his hands; so the
potter formed it into another pot, shaping it as seemed best to him. 5 Then the word of the LORD came to me. 6 He said, “Can I not do with you, Israel, as this potter does?” declares
the LORD. “Like clay in the hand of the potter, so are you in my hand, Is-
rael.
When the potter finds clay in the ground, It is not ready to be used. It must
be moistened and then all of the stones and debris must be removed. The
next thing the potter does is lays the clay on his floor and begins to walk
on it, pressing all the bubbles out so it becomes one solid piece. Once
“You” reach the right consistency and texture, the potter picks “You” up
off the floor and places you on his potter’s wheel. He begins molding you
by applying pressure to certain areas of your life that need changing. You
may not like the pressure but he, as the master potter knows what is best
for you.
He shapes you into the vessel he desires you to be.
Romans 9:20
Nay but, O man, who art thou that repliest against God? Shall the
thing formed say to him that formed it, Why hast thou made me
thus?
When you done being shaped by his hands you are still not ready to
be used for his purpose. A clay vessel must be sent through the fire
to harden it. “Think of the Gentleman who taught me this sermon,
sitting in jail, knowing he had committed the offense he was being
charged with and all of the turmoil he would go through when he
would be rightly convicted.”
If clay is not fired correctly it will have limited use and will eventu-
ally break.
However, a clay vessel that is fired correctly can have many uses
over its lifetime.
After a good scrubbing to remove in remaining impurities on its sur-
face, A clay vessel is then glazed, or “Anointed”.
The final step is when the potter puts his name on you!
Rev. 22:4 And they shall see his face; and his name shall be in their
foreheads.
This sermon means so much to me because it reminds me that God is
always at work in our lives, putting pressure where it is necessary to
shape us, then putting us through the fire to harden us for his purpose
which is to come! And finally he Anoints us and places his mark on
us so we can do his work. This mark tells everyone we are his.
Rally day was a big success. Thank you to all of the volunteers who
donated their time and whatever else was needed to make this hap-
pen. This could not happen without you.
Also, a special Thank You to Kim N, and Charla D. It was your or-
ganizational skills that brought this all together. “The spokes of the
wheel keep turning!”
Some important happenings coming up to remember:
Confirmation is every Wednesday evening.
FFF/Sunday School children will be singing once a month so be sure
to know on what weekend this takes place.
Thank you to all the volunteers who help the FFF/Committee or any
of the other committees. Without you there are a lot of things that
could not be accomplished. And please remember, there is always
room for more volunteers! I would like to ask that you keep the peo-
ple of our great nation in your hearts and Prayers as we go through
these troubling times.

Life & Missions
Your Life and Missions Committee met September 6th at 5:15 p.m.
with one visitor present. Again all are welcome to our meetings with
input and comments.
The balance of our School Supply Collection has been taken to
Alden/Conger and Albert Lea Schools. They very much appreciated
the supplies.
Our Salvation Army Food collection is going well. As I write this
we are at 437# with two weeks to go I am confident we will reach or
exceed our 525# goal Thanks to all.
We are beginning our Wednesday night meals. We want this to be
an opportunity to meet at church on Wednesdays. This will provide a
meal, fellowship, attending Wednesday Worship Service, going to Con-
firmation Class. Make this a mid-week stop to recharge with friends,
make new friends, and bring guests. We have the next four Wednesday
Meals planned which is published in another section. Again volunteers
are very much welcome to prepare, serve, and/or clean-up.
We started our planning for a Baked Potato Bar on October 23rd.
Mark the date and attend.
As part of our committees responsibility, it is to include and encour-
age members to take part in various parts of our Service. With this in
mind, we are encouraged by the volunteers that will assist us in being a
Welcome Minister. Thanks to all who are volunteering for this.
Our next meeting will be October 6, 2016 at 6:00 p.m.

Bids are coming in for the Tree removal on the southwest side of
the parking lot. This should be completed before the October
Council Meeting.
We are currently taking bids for Snow removal again this year as
the SNOW is coming for another fun filled Season.
Still in progress is the Secure doorway to the Whole area. Three
doors are left to be replaced sometime before the end of the year,
Kitchen, Choir and above the Whole on the east exterior side.
We are looking at ways to upgrade the HOT water system as it
currently takes awhile to reach the far side of the building. Possi-
bly a few more On-Demand-Water systems like to one installed in
the fellowship kitchen area.
It was noticed that the Bubble wall is showing again and that is
being brought to the attention of the contractor.
Until next time, Keep praying for Sunshine not Snow.

Trinity’s Mission Statement
We are a fellowship of believers in Christ,
sustained by God’s Word, led by the Holy
Spirit and committed to God’s vision of caring!
Our committee met with Pastor Eileen her first week here and it was
so great to again have a person to direct us. We discussed the things
we have done at Trinity and the fact that she wants to get to know us
and how we do Worship, before any changes would happen. We went
over many of the responsibilities of this committee and talked about
ways to involve more people in the Congregation.
We do have a ‘Musician Appreciation Coffee’ coming up on the 9th of
Oct. after our Worship service in Trinity Hall. This is always a fun
event to say thank you to our wonderful musicians led by Nancy Hal-
vorsen. She enhances our Worship with many different groups here at
Trinity. This year the schedule has been set for the first Sunday every
month with our children singing, Chimes will be playing once a month
and our Choir will sing once or twice a month. There will be some
special groups like that awesome men’s group that sang for us on
Mother’s Day. There will be a lot to add to our Worship experience
and we look forward to Pastor Eileen’s input on this also.
We are looking into possibly inviting ‘Raiders of the Lost Art’ back
again or another similar group for next summer. It was such a great
service and something special for those quieter summer months. We
will continue to look into this for the Congregation.
Our next meeting is on Thurs. the 6th of Oct. at 6:00PM, as always
everyone is welcome to come with their positive suggestions.
