Four Rivers Balloon Race This community event benefited the Four Rivers Foundation which helps children access sports programs and assists women in dealing with domestic violence.

Even with inclement weather threatening, the Four Rivers Balloon Race was a success. Members from Trinity worked and helped at many events at the festival. On Saturday, April 22nd which was

Earth Day, Pastor John and Debra Scott did special Earth Day activities with the children by potting flats of flowers into small pots.

On Sunday, April 23rd, a Community Worship Service was held on Magnolia Hill, the site of the Balloon Festival. Area churches came together to worship that day. Bro. Mike Deville gave the message, Pastor John was in charge of the Children’s message and Terri Cotton was the soloist and song leader. - Dot Lazarus

Memorial Day Service The American Legion Auxiliary, Boyd Mann Unit #163 conducted its annual Memorial Day Program at Trinity Presbyterian Church on Monday, May 29th. Many came together to salute the Flag, recite the Pledge of Allegiance, and honor the Ultimate Sacrifices of the 109 men from Catahoula Parish and all others who never came home.

Dot Lazarus played a medley of patriotic preludes before the service began. Hannah Cotton sang the National Anthem and God Bless America during the service. American Legion Auxiliary members Martha Brallier, Margaret Hill, Jeanine Reeves, Donna Tiser, and Mindy Boothe read the names of those who made the ultimate sacrifices in World War l, World War 2, Korea, Vietnam, the global war on Terrorism – Iraq, the 2010 Haiti Earthquake, and the prisoners of war.

Ruth King was the keynote speaker, and Colonel Allan K. Bean, USAF (Ret.) gave the Memorial Day Prayer. Immediately following the ceremony, the Natchez Boy Scouts conducted a Flag Retirement Ceremony on the church grounds, retiring over 40 folded flags that were in disrepair. A reception, with patriotic decorations was held in the Fellowship Hall immediately following the flag ceremony.

Refreshments were provided by the Jonesville Woman’s Club, the American Legion Auxiliary, and The Columns Community Care Center. - Dot Lazarus
