*PRAYER OF CONFESSION: Liturgist

One: Lord, life is a mystery -far too deep for us to fathom, too large for us to grasp.

All: We are just ordinary people, seeking to make each day something special, and hoping that in some way our lives might have meaning, might count.

One: And so we recognize that we need so much. All: We need wisdom and strength.

We need compassion and courage. And we turn to You as the source of what we need.

One: What a surprise it is to discover that You are within us!In Jesus, You have stepped into our world.By Your Spirit, You have stepped into our hearts.

All: How often we have missed this hidden treasure inside us.One: Yes, we are just ordinary people,

but we are Your image, and we are filled with Your Presence. All: Forgive us for our blindness,

and for our neglect of the gift of Yourselfwith which You have so generously blessed us.

*ASSURANCE OF GOD’S FORGIVENESS

*RESPONSE: (congregation and choir singing together)

SACRAMENT OF HOLY COMMUNION

INVITATION TO THE LORD’S TABLE

THE GREAT THANKSGIVING

One: God be with you. All: And also with you. One: Lift up your hearts. All: We lift them up to the Lord. One: Let us give thanks to God.All: It is right to give God thanks and praise. One: It is our greatest joy and with hearts filled with thanksgiving

We celebrate your Spirit, Creating God, who hovered over creationand brought order out of formlessness. We celebrate your Spirit, Redeeming God, who filled Jesus with power and wisdom, and through Him, made Your life available to all.We celebrate your Spirit, Sustaining God, who has been poured outon all people, and leads us into the Kingdom of God.We gather at the Lord's table,we recognise Your Spirit's Presence among us,and we open our hearts to the Spirit's influence.

And so, we praise you, Lord of Life, joining our voiceswith choirs of angels and with all the faithful of every time and place, who forever sing to the glory of your name:

All: Holy, holy, holy, Lord, God of power and might:heaven and earth are full of your glory.Hosanna in the highest.Blessed is the One who comes in the name of the Lord.Hosanna in the highest.

One: You are holy, O God of majesty, and blessed is Jesus Christ,Your Son, our Lord, who came among us teaching usthat we depend on You for life and truth and love;that You welcome us with open and accepting arms.We come ready to meet with You, and be changed by the encounter. We give thanks that the Lord Jesus, on the eve of His crucifixion, gathered His friends for a meal. During supper, He took a loaf of bread, and gave thanks for it. Then He broke it and passed it among them withthese words:

All: This is my body which is broken for you.Take, eat and remember Me.

One: After the meal, Jesus took a cup of wine and gave thanks for it.Then He passed it among them with these words:

All: This is my blood which is shed for you.Take, drink and remember Me.

One: So now, we eat and we drink and we remember Jesusand His great love for us. And we will continue to do thisuntil He returns. Praise to you, Lord Jesus:

All: Dying you destroyed our death, rising you restored our life.Lord Jesus, come in glory.

One: So, God, pour out Your Holy Spirit upon us,and on these gifts of bread and cup, so that the bread we breakand the cup we bless may be the communion of Christ’s body and blood.Spirit, unite us with Christ, and with everyone who shares this feast, all across the world. Send us out to be Christ’s hands and feetin our local communities and thoughout the creation.

All: Amen. by John van de Laar © 2005 Sacredise
