HONORARY AWARDS - FOR JUNIOR AND ADULT EXHIBITORS

All Honorary Awards are donated by the St. Andrews and St. Clements

Agricultural Society. These awards will be presented to the Junior and Adult

exhibitor High Point winners compiling the most points. This will take place on

the Monday after the Fair.

Grand Champion Exhibitor Award in memory of Gloria Stanger

Grand Champion Junior Exhibitor Award in memory of Isabel Jonasson

Best of Show Ribbon (adult craft section only) in memory of Myrtle Barnette

HOMEMAKING & HANDICRAFTS

Rules and Regulations

1. You must be a member of the St. Andrews/St. Clements Agricultural Society to

enter in the Homemaking and Handicrafts classes. Juniors and 4-H memberships

are $1.00. Adult and senior memberships are $3.00. This allows the exhibitor 4

entries in classes 1-15 inclusive. Additional entries are $0.25 each.

2. Age levels are as follows: Adults are 16 and up. Junior is 15 & under.

3. No person shall enter more than one article in any one section of a class

(except a pair).

4. All entries in farm produce must have been produced on the farm holding or

garden of the Exhibitor

5. The Exhibitor must have made all articles. No article may be shown a second

year. Any article thus recognized will be disqualified.

6. If there is only one entry in a class, it will be at the discretion of the Judge

whether the article will receive a first, second or any prize.

7. Junior Exhibitor must state their age on all their entry tags.

8. Entry forms must be forwarded one week prior to fair date or can bring them

when entering your exhibit to the location below. Exhibits must be delivered to

the Display building in Selkirk Park on Thursday July 11, 2013 between 5:30-

8:30PM

9. Exhibitors are responsible for picking up their exhibits on Monday July 15

between 10:00AM – 1:00PM

Rules:

1. An Exhibitor must have produced the grain on his or hers own farm

in the previous year.

2. Grain which has been treated will be disqualified

CLASS 2 – PROVINCIAL QUILT COMPETITION

Sponsored by the Manitoba Association of Ag Societies

Three Categories are:

1. Hand Quilted

2. Self-guided (domestic, long and mid arm)

3. Computer aided

Quilts must be at least 152cm x 178 cm (60” x 70”)

Results will be announced at the 2013 MAAS (Manitoba Association of

Agricultural Societies) conference

16 & Up may enter

Prizes (local level): 1st $8.00 2nd $6.00 3rd $4.00

2013 Provincial Agricultural Societies Quilt Competition Rules & Regulations

1. Competition is open to all quilt exhibitors.

2. The judging criteria used for judging is included in the Judging Standard’s book.

3. Quilts may be entered in the three categories.

4. The entry must be completely quilted by the person submitting the quilt.

5. No commercial quilting will be allowed (machine quilted by someone other

than the exhibitor).

6. Quilts must have an appropriate title and give appropriate credit to pattern

designer if not original.

7. Quilts must be at least 152cm x 178cm (60” x 70”) to be considered for the

competition.

8. A fabric quilt label must be attached to the bottom right corner on the

backside of the quilt entry. Labels must be covered at all judging levels.

9. Quilts must be delivered/packaged in a durable and labeled clear plastic bag for

handling.

10. Pre-stamped or direct product of Quilt Kits will not be accepted; however,

Block of the Month quilts, if not kitted, are eligible.

11. Quilters will sign a release form when the quilt is entered at the local event,

giving the coordinating group permission to use pictures of the quilt and/or

quilter in any type of promotional activity they deem appropriate.

12. A score sheet will be distributed to all societies, which must be used to judge

the quilts. Any quilt not scoring 70 or more points will not qualify for the District

or Provincial competition.

13. Each society may select up to six quilts (2 hand quilted, 2 mid/long arm, 2

computer aided) at their Fair to participate in the District competition. Up to a

total of six quilts will be chosen at the District competition to go on to the

Provincial competition.

14. Exhibitors may enter more than one quilt in this competition. However, they

may only have one hand, self-guided and one computer aided quilt advance to

the Provincial competition.

15. Any quilt may be entered in competition at as many fairs as the exhibitor

wishes, however, it may only represent the society where it was first entered in

the Provincial competition and won. The exhibitor must advise societies at the

time of entry if their quilt is a winner at a previous fair.

16. If an exhibitor does not wish to participate in Provincial competition, the

runner-up quilt with a score higher than 70 will be selected to represent the

society in the District competition.

17. At the District level prize monies will be awarded for the top quilts in each

category. At the Provincial finals, there will be prize monies available in the Hand

Quilted, Self Guided and Computer Aided categories.

18. All District winners will be displayed at the Red River Exhibition in June 2014

after which the quilts will be returned to the quilters.

19. Quilt owners are responsible for insuring their own quilts. The sponsors,

societies and MAAS will not be liable for damage or loss.

Rules:

1. Needlecrafts must be the work of the exhibitor.

2. 16 & Up may enter.

Rules:

1. Plants must be free from insects and disease.

2. Plants must be property of exhibitor.

3. One exhibit per exhibitor in each section.

4. Arrangements may use plant material from sources other than the property of

the exhibitor, but they must not be purchased.

5. Diameter of pot should not be more than 8 inches (unless it is a dish garden).

CLASS 6 – GARDEN VEGETABLES, FRUITS, HONEY & OTHER PRODUCTS

Rules:

1. No glass or wicker containers or plates (use only foam or paper plates also

plastic bags to cover the tops)

2. The fruits and vegetables must be the property of the exhibitor and produced

on exhibitors farm or holding this year.

3. Exhibits must be the correct number, weight, and measure called for in the

description, or they will be disqualified.

4. The judge’s decision shall be final.

5. Age 16 & up

Crumple foil paper and spread out behind transparency.
