Silk printed SCARF Starting bid: $100 Bid increment: $30 Value: $307
DESCRIPTION: Collection in homage to Caslino d’Erba, my birthplace and home of a
flourishing business in the manufacturing and trade of the silk in the 18th century. I freely took
inspiration from the decorations of Pecori Palace, depicting sphinxes, lunettes with birds and
details of vases with magnificent flowers and fruits. Filippo Comerio (1747-1827) painted these
last-mentioned decorations. The majolic decoration in Faenza gained prestigious thanks to him
and the so-called “Comerio green” is named after this artist, who became one of the most
important European vase painters of that time.

Item #45
Silk Long Scarf Starting bid: $70 Bid increment: $30 Value: $173 Collection in homage to Bellagio, through the wooden furniture of Bar Rossi. In the past it was
a tearoom, whose owner, in 1903, decided to furnish following the Art Nouveau style, taking
inspiration from the fashion that was very popular in London in that period. He relied on the
mastery of G. Galfetti e Figli, family of cabinet makers and wood carvers. The Galfettis made
the decorations of Bar Rossi using the rose in its different phases, from the bud to the bloom,
as a pattern. Probably, they referred to the Scottish architect Charles Rennie Mackintosh,
leading exponent of the Art Nouveau in Great Britain.

Silk printed TIE
Starting bid: $ 70 Bid increment: $30 Value: $173
Collection in homage to Leonardo da Vinci (1452-1519), genius of the Italian Renaissance who revolutionized the painting and the science. In particular, I took inspiration from the “Codex Leicester on Nature, Weight and Movement of water” about the water and the
astronomy, written by Leonardo in the first decade of the 16th century. I freely inspired myself to some details of the sheets of the Codex, where there are notes and drawings about the
Earth, the Moon and the Sun. Among these elements I put an image of Leonardo and a piece of the manuscript as background.

Balbianello BAG Starting bid: $100 Bid increment: $50 Value: $400
Collection in homage to Giuseppe Terragni (18th April 1904 – 19th July 1943), important architect of the 20th century. I freely inspired myself to his most famous work, the Casa Del Fascio in Como (1932-1936) unanimously considered the masterpiece of the Rationalism
master in Italy. I have elaborated it as a perfect proportioned parallelepiped. This building is characterized by a transparency network, by a continuous alternation of empty and full spaces,
underlining the relations between inside and outside, creating many points of view and the distribution of habitable spaces.
