As part of an initiative to celebrate our talented labor force, we sat with Deputy HR & Admin manager, Mr. Ashraf Ibrahim, to talk about the management strategy of a team that is so integral to the Trojan Holding ecosystem. Here’s what he had to say:

How would you describe your overall role in labor management at Trojan? The modern philosophy of management creates a link between the employer and labor force by providing appropriate lifestyles for labor to satisfy their ambitions without clashing with the main objective of earning profit for the employer. Appropriate lifestyle includes providing adequate housing and transportation, in addition to receiving salary on time, and ensuring that laborers are legally registered as per labor laws. Furthermore, management and laborers should maintain a smooth communication process, where they help employees in resolving any issues which may arise.

How does Trojan pursue the efficient utilization of labor (so that time and costs are kept at a minimum)? For us to get the highest level of productivity and economic efficiency, several requirements must be fulfilled.

These requirements include comfortable housing, located near the workplace, and transportation. In addition, life necessities must be provided; such as kitchen areas, adequate bathrooms, grocery stores, etc. We also aim to listen to workers’ problems, and ensure resolving their issues as quickly and efficiently as possible.

How would you describe the job-site productivity and performance of labor at Trojan?I believe that we are achieving a high productivity level with the satisfying lifestyle provided to our workers here at Trojan. Our philosophy does not limit us to a single nationality, and the multinational community of workers is evidence of the rich diversity in experiences and competencies within the company.

How would you say the climate in the UAE affects labor productivity at Trojan, and are there any initiatives taken to make up for any effects? It is natural that our laborer’s productivity will be affected by the UAE’s high temperatures and humidity; we fulfill all legal measures as instructed by government, including prevention of working from 12:30 until 3:00 PM. We also take strict measures to ensure the safety of our workers, including providing cold water at all times, along with air-conditioned break areas, and first aid kits on sites.

How would you describe Trojan's 'the right people at the right time' philosophy and what is it about the process at Trojan that helps you achieve this?Choosing the ‘right people at the right time’ enhances productivity and performance, and leads to taking better

and faster decisions. This elevates our company’s development by getting the job done on time without question. Trojan always provides all available possibilities to ensuring quality decisions in a timely manner.

What measures allow for the flexibility advantage at Trojan when it comes to the employment of labor? We are proud to have many opportunities to benefit from here at Trojan, including benefiting from in-house experiences available in different departments. We also maintain constant training within different sectors, such as safety and security courses, and courses about the nature of work on sites. We also offer the opportunity for workers to obtain a driver’s license after a certain period of employment, along with promotions to reward efficiency.

What do you think are the 3 top factors that contribute to Trojan's success in labor management?1. Hire wisely2. Ensure diversity in nationalities3. Provide a satisfying lifestyle

How would you describe the standards of the Trojan Labor camps? With close proximity to the work sites, our laborers’ residence satisfies Civil Defense requirements, while undergoing constant pest control. Housing areas include entertainment areas and food courts, while being committed to landmarks specified by the government to provide a 24-hour working nurse within the residence area and hospital care.

Mr. Ashraf Ibrahim, Deputy HR & Admin Manager
