TruckMate 2019.2 Release Notes 2

TruckMate 2019 – Version 19.2 Release Highlights As a direct response to customer feedback, we have added new features and core enhancements to TruckMate for increased efficiency, faster performance, and greater ease of use. This section highlights some of the higher-profile functionality developed in TruckMate 19.2

EDI Updates In TruckMate 18.4 there was a change made to how the TruckMate TM EDILink maps, (i.e., flat file specifications), are installed. Previously, these DLL files were placed in the root of the TruckMate directory but they are now installed into the EDI folder in the TruckMate Directory.

If you currently use any of the TM EDILink maps and upgrade to 18.4 or higher, you will need to move a copy of these maps from the EDI folder into the root of the TruckMate directory since that is where the EDI Communications Manager program (EDIComMgr.exe) will look for them.

If you later install a patch release or upgrade to a new version of TruckMate that includes revisions to the TM EDILink map files, (such as this TruckMate 19.2 release), you will need to:

Test to confirm your system, (and any EDI customizations), will work with this updated set of DLL files

Manually copy the DLL files from the EDI folder into the root of the TruckMate directory to overwrite the previous versions

Migrate Database Wizard Refer to the R2019 TruckMate Upgrade document available on the Learning Center for instructions on how to use the latest version of the Migrate Database Wizard.

Note: Once you perform an update using the Migrate Database Wizard, do not use the other older methods such as the Upgrade Database Wizard.

Updates on the Learning Center and the new online help system The Product Documentation > TruckMate tab on the Learning Center web site (https://learn.tmwsystems.com/) contains all the latest documentation and on-line help materials. Video tutorials are also available on the Learning Center.

A preview of the new TruckMate web-based online help system with revised and refreshed content is available on the TruckMate tab within the Learning Center.

Back Office

Add Client Cross Reference and Client Code Auto-Fill to FB Import processes

The TruckMate freight bill import process has been updated to allow all the import tools (FB Importer, ART, Cleo (EDILink)), Webservice204 and TM4Web to use the data configured in the EDI Client Cross Reference program (EDICrossRef.exe) in a consistent manner.

These cross-referencing fields for the order can be viewed on the Summary tab of the Order Preprocessor program.

If the incoming order has a "Caller"(Bill-To) party that matches the 'Trading Partner' value of a row in the EDI Client Cross Reference program, then the "Shipper", "Consignee', "Pickup At", "Care of Delivery", and 'Other Contact' clients will be determined and auto-populated for the freight bill based on the "Cross Reference Value" instead of their "Client ID".

This behavior is enabled by selecting the new check box option on the FB Import Properties window of the FB Import Windows service available within the TruckMate Windows Service Host program (MadServiceHost.exe).

Page 5: TruckMate 2019.2 Release Notes - TMW Systems...TruckMate 2019 – Version 19.2 Release Highlights As a direct response to customer feedback, we have added new features and core enhancements

TruckMate 2019.2 Release Notes 4

If both of the Auto-Populate check boxes are selected, the Auto Populate Client Info in Freight Bill From ID data will take precedence and automatically populate the client informational fields based on the EDI Client Cross Reference codes supplied by the import. It supersedes the Auto Populate Client Info in Freight Bill option that populates the client informational fields based on the CLIENT_ID.

TruckMate 2019.2 Release Notes 5

Note: If you manually enter the "Pickup At", "Care of Delivery", or 'Other Contact' field information on the Order Preprocessor > Contacts tab, everything else (Name, Address, City etc.) will be re-populated automatically.

The FB Import API has been revised to accommodate this new feature.

TruckMate 2019.2 Release Notes 6

The Restricted delete application configuration option has also been updated to ensure any clients referenced by the PICKUP_AT or CARE_OF fields cannot be deleted.

New User columns for the CRM Opportunities tab

Five user fields have been added to the CRM Opportunities sub-tab.

Go to Profiles > Customer & Vendor Profiles > Vendor Profiles window > Tools menu > View CRM > Customers tab > Address sub-tab > Opportunities sub-tab.

Automatically enter rate value when part number is entered into the parts grid

In the 'R&M stock Receipts' application > 'Parts' tab, when a part number is entered or changed, the application will look up a record in the 'Part Codes' - 'Part Prices' tab of the 'R&M configuration' application with a matching 'Part Code', 'Last Vendor' and 'Shop code'.

Page 8: TruckMate 2019.2 Release Notes - TMW Systems...TruckMate 2019 – Version 19.2 Release Highlights As a direct response to customer feedback, we have added new features and core enhancements

TruckMate 2019.2 Release Notes 7

If found, the Rate is set to 'Last Price', (new functionality).

If not found, it will look up a record with matched 'Part Code', 'Last Vendor' and if one or multiple records are found, the system will pick one of them (the same as preexisting functionality) and set the Rate to that record's 'Last Price'.

Similarly, in the 'AP Purchase Order Entry' program > 'R&M Parts' tab, when a part number is entered or changed, the application will look up a record in 'Part Codes' > 'Part Prices' tab of the 'R&M configuration' application with a matching 'Part Code', 'Last Vendor' and 'Shop code'. If found, the Rate is set to 'Last Price' (new functionality); if not found, the system will look up and fill in the rate based on the last time a PO was created with this part code (pre-existing functionality). When 'Part code' or 'To Code' in 'R&M Parts' grid is changed, it will look up the rate automatically.

Page 9: TruckMate 2019.2 Release Notes - TMW Systems...TruckMate 2019 – Version 19.2 Release Highlights As a direct response to customer feedback, we have added new features and core enhancements

TruckMate 2019.2 Release Notes 8

This feature for the 'AP Purchase Order Entry' program requires that the application configuration value for APPO.EXE > 'Auto-rate part code' is set to True.

Changes to Express Check Retrieval via Real-Time - TS00006 file uploads to ComData

The Express Check Retrieval Request via Real-Time file, (TS00006 format), which uploads to ComData has been modified to include 10 characters for the Purpose Code (Echeck Description) in the 104th position of the TS00006 format.

The TruckMate Echeck description is 40 characters, so only the first 10 characters of the Echeck description will be populated in the purpose code.

New User columns for AP Inquiry and Pay Bills windows

Three user field columns have been added to the accounts payable inquiry grids in the AP Inquiry main window and in the Pay Bills window to display user defined data such as an invoice number or information related to Interliner payables. (This information is also available to be added to a customized AP aged invoice report.)

Cross collaboration initiative to retain drivers

Trimble TruckMate 2019.2 introduces a new Trimble cross collaboration project to help you retain your drivers by providing dispatchers and TruckMate operation users to view key driver metrics and a calculated summary score value using precision analytics and regulatory compliance services software provided by Vusion (a Trimble company).

The Driver Retention Score and predictor are downloaded regularly using a Windows service and can be viewed in the new Predictive Retention tab in Driver Profiles with details for the key driver metrics displayed in the sub-tabs for the time period specified.

Note: This feature requires that you contact Vusion to setup an account. Contact Sales: [email protected] to purchase an account and Technical Support: [email protected] if you have any questions related to Vusion configuration.

Vusion, a Trimble company, (https://www.vusion.net/), specializes in data analytics for trucking companies; providing operational metrics to help fleet management make better, more predictive decisions about equipment, vehicles and people using proprietary modeling technology.

The driver retention information is used by the TruckMate Dispatch and Multi-Mode Dispatch programs to alert the dispatcher if they try to assign an "at risk" driver with a high driver retention score to a trip.

Accessorial Charges Wizard

TruckMate 19.2 introduces a new feature allowing you to copy an existing set of accessorial charge entries and create a new matching set with different start and end dates and with the adjustments applied. This is similar to the existing wizard tool used to copy Rate Sheets.

To use the new Accessorial Charge Copy Wizard:

1. Go to Profiles > Codes Maintenance program > Accessorial Charges tab.

2. Select Copy Acc Charge Wizard from the Tools menu (or press F10) to display the first page of the Accessorial Charge Copy Wizard.

3. Set the selection criteria to select a specific group of existing accessorial charge entries and click Next.

4. Set the dates for the new records to be applied to and whatever value adjustments to be applied to all the new records being created. For example, apply a 22% increase and round to the nearest 25 cents.

8. Do a random spot check to verify the new entries have been created as expected. (E.g. 12.00 + 22% increase = 14.64 rounded to the closest 25 cent value = 14.75)

Reason Codes only required when there is a Service Failure

If the security option requiring users to enter in a Reason Code whenever the status of a Freight Bill is manually changed is activated, you now have a check box option allowing you to determine exactly which status codes will require a service failure Reason Code entry.

When you manually make a status change in Customer Service, the reason code is only required if the status code's Require Reason Code check box is selected.

New Rate by Type feature to create a group of rate sheets and search for lowest rate

A new Rate by Type feature allows the system to find the lowest rate for a detail line.

Overview

This change was added with the intention of providing a way to get the lowest rate between LTL rates or Truckload (TL) rates. The existing "lowest rate" rating configuration option did not work for this scenario because it tries to rate the freight bill based on one rate sheet. If the rate sheets are commodity specific and there are multiple commodities on one freight bill, then the lowest rate option does not rate all detail lines.

To resolve this required linking all the LTL rate sheets together and all the TL rate sheets together but this enhancement allows the system to get an LTL rate or a TL rate. You can force one or the other or get the system to pick the lower of the two.

Here is an example using LTL / TL for the Rate Types, but you can define the rate types any way you like and you create as many rate types as you need.

There are two ways to use this Rate Sheet Type feature:

Method 1: Manually set a specific rate type for the detail line

Method 2: Automatically use the lowest rate type option

(The method being used is indicated by the Rate by Type check box on the freight bill.)

Setup steps common to both methods

1. Go to Utilities > Application Configuration (ConfigExplorer.exe) > RATES.EXE and set the Lowest Rate option to False to use this new "rate by type" method instead of the existing "lowest rate" rating configuration option.

2. Go to Rating > Rates Maintenance (Rates.exe).

3. Go to the Setup menu and select Rate Type Setup.

Page 25: TruckMate 2019.2 Release Notes - TMW Systems...TruckMate 2019 – Version 19.2 Release Highlights As a direct response to customer feedback, we have added new features and core enhancements

TruckMate 2019.2 Release Notes 24

4. Add rate type entries for "TL" and "LTL", or whichever names make sense for your scenarios.

5. Now go to the existing Rate Sheets or create new ones, and select the Misc tab.

6. Select a Rate Type for the rate sheet (e.g., TL or LTL).

Method 1: Manually set a specific rate type for the detail line

Using this method, only the specific type of rate sheets indicated will be used to rate the detail line.

1. Go to Customer Service (CServe.exe) and create a new freight bill.

2. Prepare your freight bill details with desired commodities, weights and pallet values.

3. Right-click the details and choose View Rate Clients from the shortcut menu.

4. Select the Manual Override check box.

5. Pick a Rate Type field to match the desired type of rate sheet (e.g. TL).

Page 26: TruckMate 2019.2 Release Notes - TMW Systems...TruckMate 2019 – Version 19.2 Release Highlights As a direct response to customer feedback, we have added new features and core enhancements

TruckMate 2019.2 Release Notes 25

6. Verify the Rate by Type check box is cleared.

When the bill is rated in this example, only the TL rate sheets will be used to rate the detail line.

Method 2: Automatically use the lowest rate type group option

For this method, one additional setup is needed on the client profile to indicate the system will use the Rate Sheet Type for rating for this client.

1. Go to the Profiles > Customer & Vendor Profiles program > Rating tab > Client Rating sub-tab and select the Rate by Rate Sheet Type check box on the client's profile.

Page 27: TruckMate 2019.2 Release Notes - TMW Systems...TruckMate 2019 – Version 19.2 Release Highlights As a direct response to customer feedback, we have added new features and core enhancements

TruckMate 2019.2 Release Notes 26

2. Go to Customer Service (CServe.exe) and prepare your freight bill, using the same client as above and enter the details with desired commodities, weights and pallet values.

3. This time, when the bill is rated, the system will automatically rate the detail lines by each group in turn and choose the group that gives the lowest overall rate

4. If you right-click and select View Rate Clients, the Rate by Type box is selected and greyed out indicating an automatic, non-manual override.

5. Verify the system has chosen the rate sheet type that offers the lowest rate (e.g. LTL in this case).

6. You can also see the behavior described in the Rate Logging text.

Payroll reporting of state earnings - Medicare and Social Security

The audit trail used to conduct reporting and reconciliation for historical records related to Payroll has been improved with the codetype and special_types pay code properties being added to the CHECK_MSTR_PAYROLL table.

The Special Types for the US payroll pay codes can include any combination of the following:

S - California SDI

K - 401K

C - Cafeteria plan 125

Page 28: TruckMate 2019.2 Release Notes - TMW Systems...TruckMate 2019 – Version 19.2 Release Highlights As a direct response to customer feedback, we have added new features and core enhancements

TruckMate 2019.2 Release Notes 27

F - Flat rate

H - Health insurance

The codetype and special_types fields will be populated after the Calc Source Deds function has been activated in the Payroll Process (PrRegister.exe) program.

Note: This audit trail also includes the Pay Code configuration check box allows TruckMate to distinguish between pretax deductions that are a health insurance deduction but are not subject to the Cafeteria 125 tax rules and thereby subject to SST and Medicare tax versus those that are not.

This check box is for Health insurance deductions that are not subject to the Cafeteria 125 tax rules so the deduction is subject to SST and Medicare tax but not Federal and State tax.

TruckMate 2019.2 Release Notes 28

Print SIN number on T4A for vendors

When T4A's are being printed, the SIN number is included on the T4A slips for vendors.

It will be populated in the T4A Vendor grids and included in the exported T4A XML reports for OtherVend and OwOpVend.

The SIN number is entered using the Soc Security field on the Profiles > Customer & Vendor Profiles program > Types tab.

Recalled Advance Check with Deduction Before Tax but no earnings - avoid overstated Tax

The situation resolved with this enhancement is that the existing advance system pay-codes, (ADVANCE and ADVANCE CH), are both of type 'O' Deduction (after tax). These will work fine if the deductions you have on your check with no earnings are of the same type. However if some or all of the deductions you have taken off on a check with no earnings are of type 'D' Deduction (before tax) then when you do have a check with earnings and the advance pay-code is used to offset deductions you had on the previous check with no earnings it would result in the taxes being overstated.

Page 30: TruckMate 2019.2 Release Notes - TMW Systems...TruckMate 2019 – Version 19.2 Release Highlights As a direct response to customer feedback, we have added new features and core enhancements

TruckMate 2019.2 Release Notes 29

The advance is applied in Payroll Time Sheets when you right-click the Deductions/Adjustments tab and select Advance Checks. You select the PR_ADVANCE record you would like to apply the advance to and click the Process Selected Records button.

To get around this issue and avoid having the tax value being overstated, two new advance pay-codes have been created, (ADVANCE2 and ADVANCE2CH), and they are of type 'D' Deduction (before tax).

So now when right mouse click and select Advance Check, the stored procedure will check all of the deductions that are part of that advance and break them into type 'D' and type 'O' and it will then create the advance entries with appropriate advance code of the same type and the taxes will be calculated properly.

Integration with Trimble Maps (ALK) Content Tools - Single Search API

When you create a vendor or client profile in TruckMate, the address and the geo code can be auto-filled in with Trimble Maps data. You can search and populate key fields in TruckMate in real-time using address information from Trimble Maps Content Tools.

Two new application configuration options for the Mileage Server Manager program have been added to enable this new feature.

Utilities > Application Configurator > MILESERV.EXE

Option Definition

Content Tools API Key Indicates the API key to use when connecting to the Trimble Maps Content Tools service. Enter the key provided by Trimble Maps (formerly ALK Maps).

Use Content Tools Enable Content Tools functionality in the supported TruckMate modules.

True: When you create a vendor or client profile, the address and the geo code are auto-filled in using Trimble map data.

False: (default) - The address and the geo code information must be filled in manually when creating a vendor or client profile.

Note: Requires a valid Content Tools API Key to be entered into the Application Configuration option of the same name.

When this feature is enabled, the address field will offer predictive autocomplete with addresses from Trimble Maps (ALK) Content Tools as soon as you start typing. Once the correct address is selected, it will automatically populate other address related fields.

For Customer Service, if the address entered matches an existing address within Customer profile, the system will automatically populate the client record's remaining values into their respective fields.

Microdea consumption of TruckMate WebServices

More functionality has been provided to all imaging vendors including Microdea for retrieving Freight Bill, Client, Vendor and AR information through the TruckMate Imaging REST API.

The "Synergize Explorer" method for Imaging > Microdea is only available when appropriate

The Synergize Explorer communication method option for Microdea Synergize imaging is only available now as an option when the application configuration option for Microdea Synergize Integration is set to Explorer.

TruckMate 2019.2 Release Notes 32

The Synergize Explorer communication method is only appropriate if the Microdea Synergize Integration is set to Explorer and therefore is no longer offered as a method option if the integration is set to None or Quicklink.

RMIS Onboarding Default Vendor Zones not in Zones scenario remedied

TruckMate will no longer populate vendor's default zone using RMIS vendor's postcode or zip code. Instead, you can update the vendor's default zone based on TruckMate's zone code settings.

Typically, many TruckMate installations are using more generic PROVINCE/CITY zone codes (e.g., BCVAN for Vancouver BC), instead of the millions of actual Canadian postal codes so the RMIS vendor onboarding process has been improved to ensure vendor creation/updates do not fail when the vendor's postal code is not explicitly defined as a valid zone code in the zone table. It will leave the vendor's default zone field untouched when doing onboarding create/update.

Rate Sheets - Clients Grid - Show the "Approved" column

An "Approved" column has been added to the Vendors and the Clients > Attached Client window in Rate Sheet Setup.

The column values will default to False and can be set to True providing a convenient shortcut method to approve the rate sheet without having to go to the Client Info > Rate Sheets > Proposals sub-tab to Approve the rate sheet. Rate sheets will not take effect until they are approved.

Find max (all minimums) and apply it on the order

Two new application configuration options have been added to enhance the integration points available for custom rating procedures.

Utilities > Application Configurator > RATES.EXE

Option Definition

Aggregate Delay Minimum

Affects aggregate rating.

True: The minimum is stored in tldtl.calc_min and only applied at the CALC_MIN_CHARGE procedure. (This only applies to rating when the Aggregate Rating application configuration option is also True.)

False: (default) - Preserves existing rating behavior. (Recommended setting unless you are doing custom rating.)

Aggregate Advanced TM Rates

True: Slight changes to aggregate rating in terms of timing and logic improvement for minimum calculations and deficit weight calculations.

applied to aggregate rating

only applies when using TruckMate rate sheets

only applies for the rate units of weight

only use if there are commodity spec rates sheets and you expect multiple rates on same bill

False: (default) - Preserves existing rating behavior. (Recommended setting unless you are doing custom rating.)

The existing rating behavior is to determine the deficit calculation using the first detail line. I.e., look at the total weight of the freight bill and calculate the "amount" and the "as rate" amount based on this first detail line using the lower of the two.

The new behavior is to calculate the "amount" and the "as amount" for all lines and then at the end add the deficit to the "as amount" and then compare the two totals using the lower of these two values.

Operations

Mobile Comm

Added IsLTL property to GetLoadOffers Mobile Comm API function to identify TL vs. LTL trip

Note: This feature is not available until the next patch release, (19.2.1 - available July 24, 2019), is installed.

The Route_ID property has been added to the Mobile Comm GetLoadOffers API function. This allows you to distinguish whether the trip is a Linehaul Trip (route_id = 0) versus a P&D trip (route_id <> 0).

Slip-seat scenario with a driver working across mid-night

TruckMate now provides the dispatcher to control and plan their auto-dispatch scenarios to set the sequence of the driver’s inactive trips/legs for the current day, as well as for future days.

The dispatcher can send or resend the load offer list to accommodate situations where a change has been made or if a driver is late. For example, suppose a driver is supposed to start work at 10pm, but does not arrive until 12:30 am, which would require the planned dispatches to be adjusted to the next day.

New Configuration Option

A new application configuration option for the Dispatch program has been added to allow dispatchers to restrict automatically generated load offers to the current day.

Utilities > Application Configurator > DISPATCH.EXE

Option Definition

Restrict Automatic Load Offer to Current Date

Determines whether the automatically generated load offers will be restricted to being created only for the current day.

True: Automatically generated load offers will only be created for the current day.

False: (default) – Do not restrict automatically generated load offers to the current day.

To support this new feature, the existing Application Configurator option Auto Dispatch Method for the Communications Manager program that was first introduced in TruckMate 19.1 must be set to Segments:

Page 37: TruckMate 2019.2 Release Notes - TMW Systems...TruckMate 2019 – Version 19.2 Release Highlights As a direct response to customer feedback, we have added new features and core enhancements

TruckMate 2019.2 Release Notes 36

Utilities > Application Configurator > COMMGR.EXE

Option Definition

Auto Dispatch Method Determines which Auto Dispatch logic will be used:

None (Default): Auto Dispatch feature is disabled. Equivalent to previous option COMMGR.EXE > Use AutoDispatch = False and COMMGR.EXE > Use AutoDispatch 2.0 = False.

1.0: Logic for Auto Dispatch 1.0 will be enabled. Equivalent to previous option COMMGR.EXE > Use AutoDispatch = True;

2.0: Logic for Auto Dispatch 2.0 will be enabled. Equivalent to previous option COMMGR.EXE > Use AutoDispatch 2.0 = True;

Segments: Auto Dispatch feature will be based on a driver’s trip segment. The Enable Auto Dispatch check box option in the Communications Manager Options will have no effect when this option is selected.

New Columns

Three new columns have been added to the Auto-Dispatch grid inside the Multi-Mode and TruckLoad Dispatch programs (MMDISP.EXE and DISPATCH.EXE).

(The Auto Dispatch tab is accessed by double-clicking an entry on the Next Trip column for a driver in the Resource tab > Driver tab in a dispatch programs such as Dispatch and Multi-Mode Dispatch.)

Page 38: TruckMate 2019.2 Release Notes - TMW Systems...TruckMate 2019 – Version 19.2 Release Highlights As a direct response to customer feedback, we have added new features and core enhancements

TruckMate 2019.2 Release Notes 37

Planned Departure: The date the trip leg is expected to be dispatched. This value is sourced from the dispatch trip when the driver segment is added to the auto dispatch grid.

Note: When a trip is created, this date automatically defaults to the lowest “Pick Up By” value (TLORDER.PICK_UP_BY) found for the freight bill(s) assigned to the trip leg. It can be overridden by double-clicking the Planned Departure column in the trip grid.

Expected Date: The date the trip leg is expected to arrive at the customer. This value is sourced from the dispatch trip when the driver segment is added to the auto-dispatch grid.

Restrict to Current Date: This True/False field controls when the auto dispatch system will automatically send load offers to the communications device of the driver/power unit on the dispatch leg:

True: Only trip legs in the auto dispatch grid with a “Planned Departure Date” matching the driver’s login date will be load offered to the driver. Any trip legs that were scheduled for a previous/future date will be skipped by the auto dispatching logic.

False: All trip legs will be load offered to the driver, regardless of the “Planned Departure Date” and driver login date.

To use this new feature:

1. Open the Multi-Mode or Dispatch program.

2. Assuming your drivers have already been assigned to the trips (or trip legs) that they will need to work for the next few days, browse to the Trips grid and locate the Planned Departure column.

3. Ensure the Planned Departure date for the trip leg matches (or precedes) the Pickup By date for the trip leg. If these values do not align with your operational expectations, double-click the Planned Departure column to choose a new departure date for the driver.

4. Once the departure date is set, access the Auto Dispatch grid by double-clicking one of the following columns:

Next Trip on the Driver tab (of the driver you wish to filter on for Auto Dispatching).

Load Offer Status on the Trip tab (the driver assigned to the trip will be used for filtering the Auto Dispatch).

5. The Auto Dispatch tab will appear for use, filtered on the “Driver ID” used to access it.

6. The grid is separated into two sections:

Load Offer Sequence grid: the left-side grid displays a record for each trip segment a driver is assigned to, sorted by the “Sequence” value (by default).

Leg Details grid: this right-side informational grid allows the dispatcher to see the entire leg sequence of a particular trip elected in the left-side grid, regardless of if the driver is assigned to all legs or not.

The contiguous legs associated to the filtered driver will have the Leg Sequence column background highlighted in a different color, to identify that they are associated with the same driver.

Page 39: TruckMate 2019.2 Release Notes - TMW Systems...TruckMate 2019 – Version 19.2 Release Highlights As a direct response to customer feedback, we have added new features and core enhancements

TruckMate 2019.2 Release Notes 38

7. Optional: Use the grid customization feature to move the “Planned Departure” and “Expected Date” columns to the left of the grid for ease of filtering/sorting by day.

8. Use the Up and Down buttons to sort the order that the trips/legs will be auto dispatched to the driver.

9. When the driver logs into their onboard mobile device, the auto dispatch process will begin sending the trip/leg load offers in sequence.

Any trip/leg that has the Restrict to Current Date column set to True will not be load offered to the driver if the Planned Departure date of the leg does not match the driver’s login date.

Add Mobile Comm Macro support to assign a power unit

Mobile communications now allows a driver to assign their power unit (and other resources) via a macro. For example:

Match Power Unit

Unmatch Power Unit

This allows you to have a set of trips in an active or planned status and allow your shunters to control these trips without manual intervention from a dispatcher. The driver is able to attach the power unit, driver, trailer, container / chassis to a trip he has been provided prior to an active trip from another terminal or location or from a planned trip at the origin to a terminal or location. The power and driver will have to be assigned to the trip and have received a load offer to update the system accordingly.

Note: Using this feature to match resources (PU, trailer, chassis, Container, etc.), applies to the current trip that a driver is working on. If the driver has another trip assigned but not started yet, the driver cannot ask for matching resources.

David Haines
In the effort to keep it simple and efficient we would like to complete these matches all on the same macro dynamically , for example if the trip has a trailer that was spotted at the customer to be loaded the driver would enter this data into the match trailer field and leave the container field null.

Trip Number column added to main grid in Message Center

The Trip Number has been added to the Mobile Communications > Message Center program on the main grid.

The trip number information within this grid is also reflected in the following other areas:

API load offers and API geo-fence Geo-fence load offers Batch load offers All networks load offers and ALO All network return messages P&D trips Message Center Mobile communications failure message

Trip Number column added to Message View window in Driver Call-In

The Trip Number is now displayed in message view of DCall.exe for both forward and return messages:

New Mark as Read macro definition level check box

To provide better control over the read/not read status of mobile comm messages, the global Auto-Read Messages check boxes have been replaced by a single Mark as Read check box option at the macro definition level.

The Auto-Read Messages check box setting options have been removed from the two previous locations:

Mobile Communications > Communications Manager program (Commgr.exe) > File menu > Configuration > Distribution tab

Utilities > TruckMate Service Host program (MadServiceHost.exe) > Omnitracs Portal service > Properties > Distribution Group tab

A new Mark as Read check box can be set within each return macro across all networks to give you control over the Read/Unread behavior at the macro definition level.

Mobile Communications > Communications Macro Definition Tool program (Macrodef.exe) > File menu > create or edit an existing macro

Page 42: TruckMate 2019.2 Release Notes - TMW Systems...TruckMate 2019 – Version 19.2 Release Highlights As a direct response to customer feedback, we have added new features and core enhancements

TruckMate 2019.2 Release Notes 41

Each return message will be validated against this new option setting and display as R/NR in Message Center or other applications that showing mobile messages.

When the Mark as Read check box is selected, the status shows as R for Read, otherwise if the check box is not selected, the status shows as NR for Not Read.

For example,

ARRSHIP, ARRCONS: Mark as Read check box SELECTED, (displays R in Message Center)

DEPSHIP, DEPCONS: Mark as Read check box NOT selected, (displays NR in Message Center)

Note:

When you create a new macro definition, the option is not selected by default meaning all return messages using this new macro would be marked as NR (Not Read).

Free form messages will always be marked as NR (Not Read).

A one-time migration will occur for any clients who had enabled the Auto-Read Messages check box in Commgr.exe. The migration will occur automatically when the Communications Manager program (Commgr.exe) runs for the first time after the update is applied.

Page 43: TruckMate 2019.2 Release Notes - TMW Systems...TruckMate 2019 – Version 19.2 Release Highlights As a direct response to customer feedback, we have added new features and core enhancements

TruckMate 2019.2 Release Notes 42

If you had selected the Auto-Read Messages check box in Commgr.exe before upgrading to this release, when you upgrade the Commgr.exe and first run the application, it will perform the migration and each return macroDef will have the Mark as Read check box selected. Otherwise, the Mark as Read check boxes will be left unchecked.

Note: After this upgrade, review your Macro Definitions to verify the Mark as Read check boxes are set correctly within each macro for your specific requirements.

This feature has also been added to the PeopleNet macros and the PeopleNet DTF form.

Dynamic generic geo-fences & API support

A new dynamic geo-fence capability has been added to TruckMate. It is now possible to configure a geo-fence latitude/longitude and radii at the customer profile level and have this information used by third party Telematics / mobile communications vendors. The Trimble TruckMate API provides external access to this new radii setting information.

Previously, some third party mobile communications vendors were only able to draw fixed radius geo-fences from a set of latitude and longitude coordinates, but this new feature allows you to define custom and generic geo-fence radii for your TruckMate stop profiles at a customer level for use by the TruckMate back office and operations modules. Generic stop profiles allow API capable vendors to query the data they need for determining a geo-fence via the TruckMate SOAP API.

To enable configuration of generic stop profiles and geo-fences use the Stop Profiles wizard in the Customer Profiles window to create some generic stop profiles and assign these to customers.

Note: This feature and the following procedure will only apply to mobile communications vendors with an API that supports geo-fencing.

1. Go to Profiles > Customer & Vendor Profiles (Profile.exe) > Customer Profiles window.

Page 44: TruckMate 2019.2 Release Notes - TMW Systems...TruckMate 2019 – Version 19.2 Release Highlights As a direct response to customer feedback, we have added new features and core enhancements

TruckMate 2019.2 Release Notes 43

2. Select Stop Profiles from the Tools menu.

3. The Assign Stop Profiles window is displayed for this Customer.

4. Right-click in the top grid and select New from the shortcut menu.

A Choose Mobile Account window is displayed as the first screen in the Stop Profiles wizard.

5. User the drop-down list to select the Mobile Account you are using.

6. Click OK to proceed to the General Settings wizard window.

In this example, a mobile account with the Account Name of Generic was created in the Mobile Device Maintenance program (Cfgcomm.exe) based on the Blue Tree – InCab mobile network but you would use the appropriate mobile network and assign whatever account name works for you.

TruckMate 2019.2 Release Notes 44

7. Click OK to proceed to the General Settings wizard window.

Note: Later on, after the stop profiles have all been created and you assign them to the client profiles, you will be prompted to indicate a "usage" for the stop profile.

A recommended approach is to create a generic stop profile for each of these usages. For example, you could create a default Consignee stop profile with specific geo-fence radii.

8. Enter a profile name and click Next.

The Arriving wizard window is displayed.

9. Select the Enable arrived events check box if this type of event is supported by the mobile device network you are using and indicate the geo-fence radius. (For example, Blue Tree does not support the “Arriving” geo-fence.) Click Next.

The Arrived wizard window is displayed.

10. Select the Enable arrived events check box if this type of event is supported by the mobile device network you are using and indicate the geo-fence radius. Click Next.

The Departed wizard window is displayed.

11. Select the Enable departed events check box if this type of event is supported by the mobile device network you are using and indicate the geo-fence radius. Click Finish.

12. The new stop profile will appear in the list of available stop profiles and available for assignment to any client.

13. To assign a stop profile to the currently selected client, drag and drop from the top grid to the bottom grid.

A pop-up window will prompt you to select the usage for this stop profile.

14. Select the usage that best corresponds to the profile you are adding and click OK.

15. Assign other stop profiles to this client to cover each of the possible usages.

16. Repeat this procedure to assign stop profiles to the other clients.

API Call Workflow

Here is a brief summary of how the API workflow will be performed, as well as key fields that will aid in the determining the geo-fences.

GetStopList command: Returns the TStopList, which is an array of TStop classes. The TStop class contains the following pieces of information:

StopID: The system-generated integer value of the particular stop.

ClientID: The CLIENT.CLIENT_ID involved in the stop.

PostLat / PosLong: The defined position of the client record in the database (CLIENT.LATDBL & LONGDBL). This will form the center point of the circular geofence for the TruckMate client.

StopProfileID: The defined STOP_PROFILE_GENERIC.PROFILE_ID of the particular stop profile for the customer as either “Shipper”, “Consignee” or “Waypoint” (or “Default”) for the particular stop.

TStopProfile class: Subclass containing the geo-fence definitions (“Arriving”, “Arrived” and “Departed” for the client.

GetStopAction command: Using the “StopID” obtained by the GetStopList command, this call is used to determine the “TStopAction” (and thus “TPickDrop” value) of the stop for the client.

Add / enhance functionality to be able to use a user defined macro field in TM via D2Link

Now you can link and use check boxes to User Data Types in D2Link macro fields and by sending shipping instructions through a d2link macro (e.g., AT SHIPPER), you can change the Ship Instructions in Customer Service.

Ease of use enhancements for Intermodal trips

Note: This feature is not available until the next patch release, (19.2.1 - available July 24, 2019), is installed.

New features and settings have been added to streamline the process for dispatching Export intermodal moves with chassis attached to the trip.

A CTRL+SHIFT+S menu option shortcut for Trip Status Change has been added to the right-click shortcut menu in Dispatch.

A new Show warning for missing resources on Trip dispatch application configuration option for the Dispatch program has been added to allow the warning message when dispatching with missing resources to be suppressed.

Utilities > Application Configurator > DISPATCH.EXE

Option Definition

Show warning for missing resources on Trip dispatch

Determines whether a warning message will be displayed or suppressed for a faster workflow process.

True: (default) – Maintain existing behavior. The warning message will be displayed if any resources are missing for the trip being dispatched.

False: (default) – Do not display informational warning message.

The "Trip XXX has been created" popup message that was displayed after creating an Intermodal trip has been removed and instead the Trip number is displayed on a label on the IM Details form.

The Y/N prompt to deactivate the chassis will now not appear, (or be deactivated if the "Dispatch \ Deactivate chassis on trip completion at IM termination zones" application configuration option is set to True), in an IM Termination zone. The system will assume the chassis will remain activated, unless it is the last leg, or the next leg contains a different chassis.

ConnectedDock

Use the same location selection logic as unloading for receiving freight in ConnectedDock

In order to help handle a lot of small parcel, high volume freight, ConnectedDock can now use the same location selection logic for receiving as unloading.

When receiving Freight via ConnectedDock, when you proceed to set the location of the items you will be presented with the standard unload screen, which will list all locations that exist at a Terminal: Dock, Cage, Bay, Trap or Trip.

ConnectedDock - Add items to freight

It is now much easier to attach a missed item to a freight bill that was created via the ConnectedDock’s freight receiving screen.

When an unknown piece of freight is discovered in the terminal while loading/unloading or moving other items, the dockworker would:

1. From the ConnectedDock’s main Terminal screen, scan the barcode on the unrecognized freight.

The ConnectedDock will attempt to match these scanned barcodes to FBs in the system.

2. If a matching barcode is found, one of two screens will be displayed to the dockworker depending on how many matching freight bills are found.

A) Single match:

Page 55: TruckMate 2019.2 Release Notes - TMW Systems...TruckMate 2019 – Version 19.2 Release Highlights As a direct response to customer feedback, we have added new features and core enhancements

TruckMate 2019.2 Release Notes 54

Note: The Receive Freight screen will display regardless of the status of the matched freight bill (e.g. at a terminal location, being loaded/unloaded on a trip).

a. The dockworker can tap the Add button to associate the new item to the displayed FB via the Enter or scan alternate barcode dialog.

b. The dockworker can tap the Camera button to take a picture of the new item being associated to the FB.

B) Multiple matches:

The Search Results screen will appear, displaying multiple freight bills (FBs) with their respective items under a card view. Each FB header card will contain some basic order header details that will help the dockworker determine the correct match.

a. The dockworker can tap the bill number header card to collapse the list of items for that bill, to make viewing other entries further down the list easier.

TruckMate 2019.2 Release Notes 55

Each FB result is color-coded based on its status within the terminal:

In a terminal location (black)

Loading into a trip/trailer (green)

Unloading from trip/trailer (orange)

b. Once the correct FB record is found, tap & hold the FB header card to open the FB on another page, depending on its status (e.g. Unloading Manifest screen, Loading Manifest screen, Terminal Location Manifest screen, etc.).

c. Slide the FB header card and use the “Add Item” button from the respective screen to associate the item to the FB being loaded/unloaded or in a terminal location.

3. After adding the item to the bill, the Item Details screen will display for the dockworker to provide additional information.

4. The Item Location screen will display, where the user can position the new item in the terminal.

TM4Web

Change regarding 3G Carrier when submitting Pickup Request

The way TM4Web is creating the Pickup Requests has been updated. When the order is using 3G rating, TM4Web will change the default 3G Carrier Assign when submitting a Pickup Request., (i.e., it will set the PTLORDER.THREEG_ASSIGN_CARRIER field to True).

Support database changes made for Back Office

The TruckMate Back Office applications were changed to provide additional fields to support the reporting for online Payment processing. These changes are also reflected in TM4Web to include the new parameters for INSERT_AR_CASH:

iIMP_PMT_STATUS = 'OPEN'

iIMP_PMT_PROVIDER = configured provider, currently only supports 'Worldpay'

iIMP_PMT_METHOD = 'Credit Card'

User interface fallback

In order to handle situations where the web based user interface design elements used to control the appearance of the TM4Web interface are temporarily made unavailable by some unexpected

Internet or network disruption, the TruckMate TM4web application has implemented a local fallback. In the event that the web version is unavailable, TM4Web interface will temporarily revert to using a local cached copy.

Remove all uses of tm4web_include final cleanup

TM4Web performance has been improved by optimizing the way dependent files are being accessed by using the Document Root property as defined in config.msw. (This performance improvement will affect Client and Vendor pages and final cleanup.)

Multiple sites running on the same web server can still be configured through virtual hosts.

Add split bill option to ALLOWED_TRACE_DOC_TYPES

The Split Bill option has been added to the available TM4Web Trace Bill Types in Client Features > Trace > Trace Results > Options > Show the Following Bill Types.

Improved method for handling a user's expired session

This version of TruckMate TM4Web implements an improved method for handling expired sessions. When a user's session expires, the session file is cleaned up, no unnecessary errors are logged, a message is displayed informing the user that the user session is unavailable and the TM4Web user is automatically returned to the log in page.

WebService 204: Add Cross Reference support for Pickup At and Care Of

The TruckMate freight bill import process has been updated to allow all the import tools (FB Importer, ART, Cleo (EDILink), Webservice204 and TM4Web to use the data configured in the EDI Client Cross Reference program (EDICrossRef.exe) in a consistent manner.

New cross-referencing fields for Pickup At and Care Of are now available for the orders and can be added to the TM4Web interface grids using the TruckMate for Web > Web Admin program (WebAdmin.exe).

TM4Web has been revised to include the enhancements related to these new cross-referencing fields. For example;

If you manually enter the "Pickup At", "Care of Delivery", or 'Other Contact' field information on the Order Preprocessor > Contacts tab, everything else (Name, Address, City etc.) will be re-populated automatically.

Note: This feature is described in the Back Office section of this release notes document. Refer to Add Client Cross Reference and Client Code Auto-Fill to FB Import processes for more details.

Prepopulate User Registration based on GUID

When new TM4Web users receive their Welcome to TM4Web email, sent either from Profiles or the TM4Web Web Administration page, they will have the ability to modify their contact information and complete their registration. The TM4Web User Registration page will be prepopulated based on the user initial setup in TruckMate via the GUID sent within the email from either the TruckMate Customer Profiles application, or the TM4Web Web Administration page, to avoid having to reenter any text and to streamline the user registration process.

TruckMate 2019.2 Release Notes 58

After successfully registering, the new TM4Web user will be able to log in and access the features and clients associated with the Access Code previously assigned to them. Registered users can also modify their profiles or change their passwords at any time.

Streamlined TM4WEB User Registration

New administrative controls accessed from within the TM4Web portal will free up TruckMate staff from having to manage and register new TM4Web Users, giving the control to the customers themselves.

Clicking the "+ Invite New User" function on the Web Administration web page opens an entry form where the Admin User, (as designated by you), can pre-populate information and use the Invite button to send their new TM4Web User an email where that new user can finish setting up their profile and password. This self-service feature allows specific clients to add their own staff members to TM4Web, (with limited access), without having to involve the IT group or your employees.

The user will receive an email similar to the following with an URL link they can click to complete their registration.

TruckMate 2019.2 Release Notes 60

A similar function is available on the Profiles > Customer and Vendor Profiles program > TM4Web Configuration tab where TruckMate back office personnel can insert a new TM4Web User and send them a registration email.

If a user were to forget their password, they can use the Forgot your username/password function available on the TM4Web login window.

Allow TM4Web Administrators to edit user accounts from TM4Web.

A reminder that for TM4Web administrators users, (i.e., users where the check box is selected), a new Admin option provides access to a new Web Administration page within the TM4Web portal. This administration web page allows the Admin user to enable other users, delete users and to change a user's access code. (The access code determines which feature set is available for this user and controls which clients the TM4Web users have access to.)
