HI-MACS is an acrylic solid surface product that can be utilized in both horizontal and vertical applications. Application opportunities fall in a variety of segments including, but not limited to, Healthcare, Recreation, Education, Hospitality, Food Service and Military. The 100% acrylic nature of the HI-MACS Classic and Eden Plus products, enables the material to be thermoformed, thus allowing the material to be heated and bent to meet the most sophisticated designs. HI-MACS* is manufactured in Adairsville, GA in a state-of-the-art Manufacturing facility which opened in 2005.

Viatera®Introduction

Viatera® Quartz Surfaces In order to create the hardest, most impervious natural countertop material, we combine 93% natural quartz with technologically advanced polymers. The result is Viatera®, a beautiful nonporous material that’s more hygienic and stain-resistant than other stone countertop materials such as granite.

Unlike granite, Viatera® Quartz does not require sealants in order to maintain its non-porous characteristics. Made with natural quartz, Viatera® surfaces offer unparalleled beauty and extraordinary benefits that far exceed those of any other natural stone.

Why quartz? It’s the seventh hardest mineral on earth, behind gemstones such as topaz, sapphire and diamond. The result of our efforts is Viatera®, an amazing and beautiful material that’s non-porous and consistent in color throughout.

Viatera® Features & Benefits

Consistent Color….Although color variations can be occur, they will typically be greater than solid surface but less than granite. Color, background and shade variations not visible from six feet away are considered acceptable by the industry.

Color/Thickness Options…..Currently comes in over 54 standard color options and in both 2 & 3cm thicknesses. The clarity of the natural quartz particulates provide beauty that can’t be achieved by other manufacturing methods or techniques.

Finish…..The factory applied finish to all Viatera is a polished finish measured between 47 and 57 on a gloss meter.

NSF Food Prep Approved…..Viatera is 100% non-porous and NSF Certified for food contact making it an excellent product where hygiene, mold and bacteria control is necessary. Unlike other products, Viatera does not require the application of a sealant.

Scratch-Resistant…..Viatera is classified as a 7 on Moh’s hardness scale making it harder than iron and titanium and where there are few materials with higher rankings, including diamonds. This quality makes Viatera extremely resistant to scratching.

Heat-Resistant…..The durability of Viatera makes it capable of enduring heat from normal cooking temperatures up to 360 degrees for a short duration. Hot pads and trivets are recommended to protect the surface for extended periods of time.

Manufactured responsibly

RedesignThe HI-MACS® factory in Adairsville, GA began operations in 2005, supplying North America and Europe. LG Hausys totally redesigned its waste management plan to achieve sustainable manufacturing.

ReclaimAll sheets of HI-MACS® 100% Acrylic Solid Surface undergo a closed wet-sanding process which captures all solid surface dust in the water. Via this process, dust is kept out of the air both in and around the facility. This water/dust is then channeled to a water cleansing facility. From there, clean water is routed back to be used again in the sanders.

ReuseSupersacks bring in raw materials and are then reused. Palettes are returned to their source for reuse, as well. Cover film used in manufacturing is collected and recycled. Our proprietary process recaptures and reuses up to 90% of the acetone cleaning material used during mixing and casting.

ReduceLarger particles are filtered from the water stream and collected into supersacks. Gases created from HI-MACS® thermal curing process are captured, preventing the release of fumes from the plant. These procedures greatly reduce impact on the environment.

RecycleAll HI-MACS® trim material and any sheets not up to our production standards are repurposed, becoming part of the up to 35% recycled content of HI-MACS® Eden Plus surface material.

Reaffirm LG Hausys reaffirms its dedication to the philosophy of sustainable manufacturing with the new Viatera® production facility opening in 2011. The new plant was carefully and consciously designed to not impact the surrounding wetlands.

HI-MACS® is made to withstand lifeIn fact, no special cleaning products are needed to keep your countertop looking great, day in and day out. But like all fine materials, damage may occur if your countertop is mistreated. To help prevent this from happening, we’ve outlined a few simple ways to be sure your countertop maintains its original elegance and beauty for years to come.

Normal cleaningHI-MACS® requires only soap and water or a damp cloth along with a mild cleanser. If you’ve chosen a matte finish, you can use an abrasive cleaner like Ajax® or Comet®. If you do use an abrasive cleaner, we recommend periodically cleaning the entire surface in a circular motion to maintain uniformity. Avoid using strong acidic cleansers (like those designed for drains, toilets or ovens). Some of them can cause whitening, which can be difficult to remove.

Troublesome spills and stainsFood dye, tea and fruit drinks can be removed with full strength bleach followed by a general cleaner flushed with water. Be sure to not let the bleach remain on the surface for more than five minutes. If a lit cigarette should come in contact with your countertop, a nicotine stain or a scorch mark can occur. Use an abrasive cleaner or buff in a circular motion with a Scotch Brite® pad to remove.

Cuts and AbrasionsFor knife cuts, deep cuts, gouges and chips, contact your certified fabricator. This damage is repairable but requires special tooling and expertise.

Common sense precautionsDo not place pans directly from the burner or oven onto your countertops. Do not put any electric cookware (i.e. crockpots) directly on your countertops. (Hot pads/trivets are recommended). You should not cut directly onto a solid surface countertop. A cutting board should be used to protect your countertop from cuts and abrasions.

HI-MACS® Residential/Commercial 15-Year Warranty

LG Hausys expressly warrants that it will repair or replace this product, free of charge, if it fails due to any manufacturing defect during the first 15 years (excludes the Expressions sink line which carries a 10 year warranty) after initial installation. If it is determined by LG Hausys or its authorized warranty service agent that a defect in the material exists within the fifteen year period, LG Hausys will, at its sole option, repair or replace the defective HI-MACS® materials in accordance with the following warranty provisions and exclusions. This warranty applies to HI-MACS® surfacing products installed after May 20, 2010.

Terms and Conditions

• The 15 year limited warranty applies to HI-MACS® surfacing materials only.• The 15 year limited warranty applies to HI-MACS® surfacing materials that have been fabricated and installed in accordance with

the Fabrication Guide Book for transportation, storage, handling, fabrication, and installation. Improper fabrication or installation is the responsibility of the fabricator/installer.

• This warranty applies to HI-MACS® surfacing materials that have been properly maintained in accordance with the Care & Maintenance Guidelines available at http://www.lghausys.com

• This warranty applies to HI-MACS® surfacing materials that have been permanently installed and have not been moved from the original location.

ExclusionsThis warranty shall not apply to :

• Products and/or materials that have not been paid in full.• Issues or occurrences that are inherent characteristics of HI-MACS® surfacing, regardless of whether viewed as a defect by the

purchaser. • Damage caused by faulty or improper fabrication and installation, including but not limited to, seams, seam performance, and

caulking.• Damage caused by any instability or improper support occurring in the property in which the product has been installed, including

but not limited to, shifting, settling, or movement of the substrate. • Damage caused to any materials that have been moved, removed or relocated from its original place of installation.• Damage caused by any form of abuse, accidents, or misuse, including but not limited to, scratches, burns, stains, or cracks.• Damage caused by exposure to heat, including but not limited to, white rings or marks, and cracking that occurs near a cook top

that transmits heat through a cooking device that extends over or near the countertop for an extended period of time.Damage or cracking caused by thermal shock.

• Color variance or variations in color and/or pattern on repairs. Exact matching of color on repair work performed in conjunction with this warranty is not guaranteed.

Warranty

LG Hausys is not responsible for damage or injury caused in whole or part by acts of God, job site conditions, exterior installations, architectural or engineering design, structural movement, acts of vandalism, accidents.

This warranty is extended to the original purchaser and may be transferred or assigned. A purchase receipt or other acceptable proof purchase will be required before warranty service is rendered. If transferred, a new warranty registration must be submitted with proof of the original purchase. The new warranty will be valid for the remaining time since the original purchase.

No other express or implied warranties of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose are made by this warranty except for those expressly provided herein. Under no circumstances shall LG Hausys be liable for any loss or damage arising from the purchase, use or inability to use this product, or for any special, indirect, incidental or consequential damages.

This warranty entitles the purchaser to specific legal rights. Other rights may also be available, which may vary from state to state. Some states do not permit the exclusion or limitation of implied warranties or of incidental or consequential damages, so the above limitation or exclusion may not apply to you. Viatera Care & Maintenance Guidelines

Viatera comprised of 93% natural quartz, helps to make your countertop a low maintenance surface that is resistant to scratches and stains. Viatera is also heat-resistant, making it capable of enduring heat from a hot pan for short durations, however to avoid possible damage, a trivet or hot pad is recommended. With proper care and maintenance, Viatera will remain beautiful and durable for many years.

Regular Cleaning

Normal cleaning of Viatera requires only a damp cloth and mild household detergent. A list of acceptable cleaning products is located at the end of this document. For best results, clean spills as soon as possible. Viatera is resistant to most stains including wine, lemon juice, tea, and fruits and vegetables without permanently staining or damaging the counters.

Cleaning Stains and Dried Spills

For tougher stains, mild non-abrasive cleansers are a good solution to keeping the surface looking new. Recommended cleaners include: Formula 409® Glass & Surface Cleaner, Bar Keeper’s Friend®, Lysol®, and Greased Lightning®. For dried spills, a non-abrasive scrub pad can be used. Rinse thoroughly and wipe with a damp cloth to remove all residue. While Viatera is generally able to withstand most household chemicals, avoid using harsh chemicals or products that contain bleach. For tough spots from items such as gum, grease, paint, food, etc., scrape off the residue with a razor blade or putty knife prior to cleaning. The scraping may leave a gray metal mark on the countertop and can be cleaned off by using a recommended cleaner and a soft non-abrasive scrub pad. Buff with a damp cloth. For stubborn spots or stains, soak a pad of paper towels in water and any of the recommended cleansers and apply the towel to the stain and let soak for a few minutes. Deeply clean with a non-abrasive scrub pad and cleanser, rinse thoroughly, and buff with a damp cloth.

Care & Maintenance

Waxes and Sealing

One of the many benefits of Viatera is that it requires no sealants or waxes to be applied during its lifetime. Because it is non-porous, a sealer will not absorb into the material and would be ineffective. With normal cleaning procedures, your countertop will always retain its luster.

Honed Finishes

Honed finishes require more frequent cleaning to maintain their appearance. Metal marks, finger prints and other signs of daily living will be more apparent. However, visible marks such as these can be removed by using a non-abrasive pad and any of the recommended cleaning products.

Viatera is NOT Indestructible!!

• Viatera can be damaged when in contact with strong chemicals and solvents. Avoid products containing trichlorethane or methylene chloride including paint removers, car battery liquid, furniture strippers, oven cleaners, and products containing bleach. These products can cause permanent discoloration and damage to the surface. In the event that these agents come into contact with the surface, wipe immediately, rinse with water, and then clean with vinegar based cleaner. If the stain persists, contact the supplier/installer of your Viatera product. Do not use abrasive and /or alkaline cleaning products. Do not use 3M Scotch Brite® green scrub pads or similar products, as they can dull the surface. When trying a new cleaning product, it is recommended that you always try the cleaner first on a hidden place of the surface and follow the cleaner manufacturer’s instructions.

• Viatera can be damaged by excessive heat which causes the polymer resin binder to contract, leaving the surface exposed to heat feeling rough to touch and/or discolored. Avoid possible problems by using a trivet between the countertop and any hot pan or heat source.

• Viatera is scratch resistant but can be scratched by materials harder than the quartz which makes up 93% of the product. For example, the bottom of some ceramic dishes may be abrasive enough to scratch your Viatera countertop.

• Viatera can also be damaged by impact causing the material to chip or crack. By following the simple care guidelines above, you can enjoy the beauty and luxury of your Viatera quartz surface for many years to come. The following are recommended commercial cleansers that are available for the routine care of your Viatera quartz surface: Non-bleach, non-abrasive liquid household cleaners:

LG Hausys offers a 15-year limited warranty on Viatera quartz surfacing, warranting that the material will be free of manufacturing defects. This warranty covers product defects for a period of fifteen years after the date of installation. If it is determined by LG Hausys or its authorized warranty service agent that a defect in the material exists within the fifteen year period, LG Hausys will, at its sole option, repair or replace the defective Viatera materials in accordance with the following warranty provisions and exclusions.

This warranty applies to Viatera quartz surfacing products installed after February 20, 2009.

Terms and Conditions

• The 15 year limited warranty applies to Viatera quartz surfacing materials only.• The 15 year limited warranty applies to Viatera quartz surfacing materials that have been fabricated and installed in accordance

with the Fabrication Guide Book for transportation, storage, handling, fabrication, and installation. Improper fabrication or installation is the responsibility of the fabricator/installer.

• This warranty applies to Viatera quartz surfacing materials that have been properly maintained in accordance with the Care & Maintenance Guidelines available at: http://www.lghausys.com

• This warranty applies to Viatera quartz surfacing materials that have been permanently installed in an interior application and have not been moved from the original location.

ExclusionsThis warranty shall not apply to :

• Products and/or materials that have not been paid in full. • Issues or occurrences that are inherent characteristics of quartz surfacing, regardless of whether viewed as a defect by the

purchaser. • Damage caused by faulty or improper fabrication and installation, including but not limited to, seams, seam performance, and

caulking. • Damage caused by any instability or improper support occurring in the property in which the product has been installed,

including but not limited to, shifting, settling, or movement of the substrate. • Damage caused to any materials that have been moved, removed or relocated from its original place of installation. • Damage caused by any form of abuse, exposure to excessive heat, accidents, or misuse, including but not limited to, scratches,

stains, chips, or cracks. • Products in which the factory applied surface finish has been altered in any way, and/or damage caused by chemicals. • Products installed with known or visible manufacturing defects at time of installation. • Color variance or variations in color, shape, size, or distribution of particulates inherent in the natural quartz or natural

variations in background color or pattern. • Other repairs and modifications, including but not limited to, plumbing, electrical, tile, and cabinets that may need to be

performed to properly repair or replace the Viatera quartz surfacing materials. • All outdoor or non-interior applications, regardless of coverage or exposure to the elements. • LG Hausys is not responsible for damage or injury caused in whole or part by acts of God, job site conditions, exterior

installations, architectural or engineering design, structural movement, acts of vandalism, or accidents.

Viatera 15-Year Warranty

This warranty is extended to the original purchaser and may be transferred or assigned. A purchase receipt or other proof of date of original purchase will be required before warranty service is rendered. If transferred, a new warranty registration must be submitted with proof of the original purchase. The new warranty will be valid for the remaining time since the original purchase.

No other express or implied warranties of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose are made by this warranty except for those expressly provided herein. Under no circumstances shall LG Hausys be liable for any loss or damage arising from the purchase, use or inability to use this product, or for any special, indirect, incidental or consequential damages. In no case will LG Hausys be liable for labor to remove and/or reinstall Viatera, or other similar activities necessary to complete the replacement or removal of the defective material.

This warranty entitles the purchaser to specific legal rights. Other rights may also be available, which may vary from state to state. Some states do not permit the exclusion or limitation of implied warranties or of incidental or consequential damages, so the above limitation or exclusion may not apply to you. To know what your legal rights are, consult your local or state consumer affairs office or your state’s Attorney General.

To obtain service under this limited 15-year warranty, please contact the source from which you purchased your Viatera product. You must permit your Certified Installer or LG Hausys authorized agents to inspect your Viatera product, and you must reasonably cooperate with your installer and LG Hausys agents in the efforts to provide service in conjunction with this limited 15-year warranty.
