Mmmmm…ShakesTruly one of my keys to maximizing time and energy using the Ultimate Fat Loss Nutrition Key are the nutrient dense ‘milkshakes’ that I make almost every morning (that I’m not traveling). The Ultimate Nutrition Keys for Delicious ‘Milkshakes’

As you discovered in the Diet Revolution manual, the Ultimate Fat Loss Nutrition Key is:

Density!

If you eat a high-density diet, meaning a diet high in nutrient-dense foods, protein-dense foods, and fiber-dense foods, then you’ll be able to get lean fast without counting calories.

Your goal is to eat more ONE-ingredient foods, like fresh fruits and vegetables, raw nuts, and even dairy products like Greek yogurt. And guess what? Blender drink ‘milkshakes’ make that easier than ever – as you combine many one-ingredient foods into a nutrient dense shake that will keep you full almost all day long, while giving you dramatic increases in energy and health, too. Now let’s build the PERFECT shakes.

1) The Five BasesEach drink requires a liquid foundation to make it smooth and delicious. There are five ways to create this, including vegan options. They’re pretty darn cool.

A) Milk – The ObviousYou can use plain ol’ milk. However, you won’t see me using that in any of the recipes. Instead, I use fancier methods. If you use this option, start with 6 ounces per recipe. Add more or use less depending on how thick or thin you want the shake to be. If you use 4 ounces, you’ll be able to turn most drinks into a near ice-cream consistency because of the frozen ingredients. Milk contains more calories per serving than…

B) Almond Breeze or Hemp BlissThese are vegan options (no animal products in either). I’ve used both for many years, although the Hemp Bliss has a strong “earthy” taste to it.

C) Water (4oz) and Greek Yogurt (1 cup)One of the problems with using Almond Breeze is that it contains an ingredient called, “carrageenan”. I’m trying to avoid this ingredient (it’s a thickener added to a LOT of foods you consume – check your labels). Greek Yogurt (plain) is just skim milk. Plus, it adds a unique taste and allows you to make thick shakes. Of course, Greek Yogurt contains dairy, so if you want to avoid that, use…

D) Water (4oz) and ½ Avocado or Water (4oz) and a BananaFor years I thought you couldn’t make great shakes without some kind of “milk” (dairy, almond, or even hemp). Boy, was I wrong! Recently I experimented with these vegan options and the shakes taste amazing. Sure, sure, a base of avocado and spinach guarantees a “Shamrock Shake” color every time (remember those from McDonald’s back in the day?), but they taste great and are full of healthy fats. A banana does the trick too, but doesn’t give you the lime green jello effect each time.

E) Water (4oz) and Coconut Milk (60mL or 2 tablespoons)This is another great vegan option and is perfect for some of our more tropical flavored recipes. If you’re going the extreme gluten-free route, look for organic coconut milk without guar gum. Tough to find, but that will be Dr. Osborne approved. You only need a little coconut milk to go a long way.

NOTE: You can add ICE cubes to all foundations as desired to make thicker shakes.

2) The ProteinShakes are an incredibly quick, easy and convenient way to get 30 grams of protein. And you know that you need protein to look and feel your best (also helping to keep your belly full and mind full of energy). Protein gives you the building blocks for a lean, sexy body and fuels your muscle. It can even increase your metabolism because when you eat protein, your body puts in a lot more effort (compared to carbs and fats) to break it down. So in the end, more protein = more fat loss. Now let’s talk taste. The best is BioTrust protein powder. Both the Milk Chocolate and Vanilla Cream flavors are outstanding. Nothing else even compares. Besides, when you blend in blueberries, strawberries, or raspberries, the shake will turn a lovely shade of purple or red and you’ll forget the spinach was ever there. However, you can SKIP the spinach if you want.

Now here’s a crazy bonus idea. You can even use broccoli in most of the recipes if you don’t have spinach. It gives you a powerful nutritional kick, lots of fiber, and you can barely taste it. I encourage you to give it a try, particularly if you blend an apple or blueberries along with the avocado

or banana base and some BioTrust Vanilla cream. You’ll be shocked at how good this combination can taste (thanks to BioTrust!). And right there you’ll have hit 5 servings of fruits and vegetables for the day. Bam!

Third, you have 1-2 servings of fruit to add to the drink to reach the unique flavouring of each shake in our recipe book. Again, you’ll be shocked at the taste-bud boosting power of a little fruit combined with BioTrust. You’ll never look at “juicing” the same way.

4) Get FancyThere are many other great ingredients you can use to boost the nutritional power of your shakes. For example, cinnamon is a powerful spice to help control blood sugar, and can be used to boost the “apple pie” flavor component of an apple-based shake. Or you can add healthy nut butters (almond, natural peanut butter, cashew) to chocolate-based shakes to give you the classic chocolate-peanut butter deliciousness. You’ll see plenty of examples in the recipes, and you can always become a mad scientist like me and experiment in almost every drink you make.

5) The EquipmentListen, you don’t need to spend $700 on a Vita-Mix. You’d only need that if you were making your own almond milk. In my kitchen, I use a simple, $70 Hamilton Beach blender and have never had any problems with it. In fact, after I broke the glass component of the blender, I gave the old motor to my mother. She re-ordered the glass and to this day uses the old motor – and that motor is going on FIVE years old. So “cheap” will work just fine. On the other hand, while a “Magic Bullet” is convenient for travel, it doesn’t seem to have the power to completely chop up the spinach like a real blender does. Just keep that in mind.

The Shake RecipesUnless I’m traveling the world, my daily diet starts with a big shake after my workout. In addition to all the nutrient dense ingredients that go into the blender, I also have 1-2 ounces of raw nuts (almonds, walnuts, or pecans) plus an apple. Sometimes I also have a spoonful or two of raw nut butter.

That’s my breakfast. It’s quick, convenient, and incredibly dense with protein, fiber, and nutrients. It often fills me up for 5 to 6 hours and gives me more energy than those zany 5-hour energy drinks (not that I’ve ever had one of those, but I can imagine!).

For example, when not experimenting, I tend to default to the “Blueberry Classic” recipe.

The Blueberry Classic also works well with any base, so you can substitute 4-6 oz of water plus ½ an avocado or 1 cup of plain Greek yogurt as well. Feel free to experiment with your “preferred base” in almost all shakes.
