Michaël Bikard is an Assistant Professor of Strategy at INSEAD, where he teaches a course on technology and in-novation strategy. His research focuses on how individuals and firms use new scientific knowledge as a source of competitive advantage. He was previously on the faculty of the London Business School and completed his PhD at MIT.

Giancarlo Caratti is Head for Intellectual Property and Technology Transfer at the Eu-ropean Commission, managing its intellectual property and promoting technology transfer. In 2015 he was Deputy Commissioner General for the EU participation in the World Expo Milano. He worked in the Universities of Florence and Pisa as teaching and research assistant in mechanical engi-neering. He spent one year as visiting scholar at the Georgia Institute of Technology and worked in a private engineer-ing firm before entering the EC in 1986.

Hans Boumans is head of Technology Transfer at TNO since 2015. Hans is responsible for TNO’s strategy regarding technology transfer, more specifically regarding spin-off creation and licensing. Before that, he was director of the Patents & Licensing de-partment at TNO for two years. In that position, he negotiated numerous license agreements with companies that wanted to turn TNO’s innovations into products. In 2007, Hans was elected in the Scientific Amer-ican Top 50. Since 2015, Hans is also a board member of the pension fund of TNO and board member of TTO Circle.

Neta Pessah is the project manager of IDEA department at Yeda R&D. The main goal of the IDEA department (IDEA: Innovation, Development, Enhancement, Acceleration) is to accelerate projects towards commercial-ization. IDEA also supports promising projects at the POC stage in order to establish new IP, and supports enhancement of existing IPs. Neta holds a PhD in medicinal chemistry and Pharmacoki-netics. Before joining Yeda, Neta worked as a chemical and preclinical manager at the pharma industry.

Sylvain Colomb was supporting CEA’s labs and start-ups as marketing engineer for CEA’s technology transfer division for 8 years. Then, in 2010, he co-founds Ethera, a start-up specialized in indoor air pollution analysis and treatment, based on a disruptive nanomaterial technology from one of CEA’s laboratory. He came back to CEA in 2016, and, as start-up manager for Grenoble center, is now in charge of developing the entrepreneurship process

Johan Haspeslagh is senior venture development manager at imec. Within imec he is leading venture ideas towards their first investment including the contribution of the imec IP. He holds master’s degrees in engineering and started in 1985 at KU-Leuven as researcher. In 1989 he joined Alcatel (now Nokia) as a pro-ject- and research leader.Since 1999 he is setting-up imec spin-offs. He was director of Lumoza until 2014 and still of Luceda Photonics.

Rolph Segers has been ac-tive in entrepreneurial educa-tion during his studies Physics at Leiden University, where he was one of the creators of the ‘Orientation on Entrepreneur-ship’ program, At the TU Delft he was responsible for the pre-seed loan program and the setup of a Proof of Concept fund that has set the standard for many other universities in the Netherlands. Currently at TNO he guides new TNO spin-offs through the startup phase and the first investment.

Jörg Wamser is Managing Director of the newly estab-lished Fraunhofer Tech-Trans-fer Fund (FTTF). Prior to that he worked for Fraunhofer Venture TTO, founded and managed two spinouts from the Max-Planck Gesellschaft, helped growing a high-tech materials company from the German Aerospace Center (DLR) and mentored miscella-neous other startup projects - often in close cooperation with the High-Tech Gruenderfonds (HGTF). He holds a diploma in Industrial Engineering and an MBA.

Michael Brandkamp has been with High-Tech Grün-derfonds right from the very beginning and drafted a signif-icant part of the business plan that today still forms the basis of HTGF. He regards establish-ing HTGF as an entrepreneurial challenge and at the same time a great privilege.He has been involved in financ-ing high-tech startups for more than 20 years, six of which he spent working in Berlin’s start-up scene. During this time, he invested in a great number of start-ups and managed numerous successful exits.

Emanuele Occhipinti Lawyer, Roma Tre University graduate. In 2006 he attended the Harvard Summer School at the Harvard University. Used to work at the European Parliament in Brussels, and since 2009 acts as an expert in European Projects and internalization, acquiring a specific experience as Project Supervisor in development of a series of EU project proposals and projects’ implementation. In Greenrail since 2015, he is company’s Vice President.

Ramona Samson is currently Deputy Head of Unit for 'Investments and SMEs', at the Directorate-General for Research and Innovation, European Commission. She provides advice as regards the design of ways to increasing private finance and closing the market gaps in R&I invest-ments. Until 2012, she held various positions at the Direc-torate-General for Trade. She holds a PhD from Copenhagen Business School.

Jerome Samson joined the European Investment Fund (EIF) Investment / Technology & Innovation team in 2017, as an Investment Manager, with a strong focus on investments dedicated to foster Technology Transfer. Prior to joining EIF, and after a first experience with BCG, he has been an early stage venture capital investment pro-fessional for the last ten years, specialized in biotech, medtech and agritech startups, at Sofin-nova Partners, then Seventure Partners and more recently at CapAgro where he was a Managing Director. Jerome holds an engineering degree from Ecole Polytechnique and a PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences from University Paris-Descartes.

Elena Andonova is a multi-disciplinary expert, engaged in innovation management and technology commercialization. As a policy officer at the European Commission, DG JRC, she is focusing on cohesion, enlargement and international cooperation policies, and has expertise in supporting the development of innovation ecosystems. Previously, Elena has worked as a consultant at Oxford University Innovation and for the Lehman Brothers in London. Elena has an MBA from Said Business School in Oxford.

Asier Rufino Bengoe-chea is co-founder and CEO of Tecnalia Ventures. He worked at: Accenture (Ireland), BNP Paribas (France), Parthenon (UK-USA-Dubai), Eli Lilly (UK), Gilead (Turkey) and start-ups and SMEs always focusing on innovation and entrepreneurship.Co-founder of Microwave Ventures; board member of several start-ups and TTO Circle; professor at Deusto Business School; EC Expert on Innovation in SMEs. MBA Lon-don Business School / Sloan MIT and BA from the Basque Country University-Reims.

Bart Swaelens is Head of Tech Transfer, responsible for Venture Development and Licensing at VITO.Prior to that, he was CEO of Materialise Dental, which he grew from its creation to a group with 7 companies in 8 countries and towards a trade sale to DENTSPLY Inc.In the beginning of his career, Bart was one of the pioneers of Materialise, a Belgian 3D Printing company, where he founded and led the Software Division and the Medical Division. He was one of the drivers behind the international growth of Materialise, which is now listed on NASDAQ (MTLS).

Maria Makridaki is a Technology Transfer Con-sultant at PRAXI Network/FORTH. Her activities involve IPR management, access to public and private funding, exploitation of research results and provision of information and advisory services to all stages of technology transfer. She has coached several research teams on exploiting their research results. She is actively involved in the crea-tion and promotion of regional development policies and the implementation of Smart Specialisation Strategies.

Julia Schmalenberg is Senior Policy Advisor for the European Research Area, Fraunhofer-GesellschaftAs senior policy advisor in Brussels office and Munich headquarters, Julia’s focus lies on technology transfer and digitization. Prior to her en-gagement in the policy sector, she coordinated a Fraunhofer intrapreneurship program while leading the German chapter of Business Developers for EIT Digital and representing the German node there. She holds a degree with distinction both in Legal Studies (Dipl.-Jur.) from the University of Passau and Cardiff and in Technology Management (Dipl.-Ing.) from the University of Stuttgart.

Christopher Kerth Michal Belusky works at the TTO of Czech Academy of Sciences (CAS) as legal counsel, monitoring national and European legislation and drafting manuals, checklists and templates to be used by the individual institutes of CAS. Through consulting services offered by the CAS TTO Michal took part in negotiations with partners ranging from public institutions like NASA or CERN to international corporations like DHL or Philip Morris and many local and regional part-ners. His expertise encompass-es research collaboration ar-rangements, license contracts and spin-off formation.

Lluc Diaz is working in the Innovation and Ventures Division of the European Space Agency where he is currently coordinating the Innovation Partners Network of ESA. Lluc is also involved in the ESA BIC management and is strongly focused on start-ups growth and equity investors’ relations. Lluc has also been evaluator for the European Commission, and mentor in the Space2ac programme in Poland and the Copernicus Accelerator.
