Words are also seeds, and when dropped into the invisible
spiritual substance, they grow and bring forth after their
kind.
—Charles Fillmore
The new year, whether we choose to celebrate it or not, is a time
of change. It becomes a time of reflection on one’s life, often gaug-
ing habits, relationships, and beginnings. When I look at this
quote by Charles Fillmore today, it reminds me of affirmations
and how important they are to me. With affirmations we vibrate
statements of truth, zeal, and compassion out into the cosmos,
morphing our reality to reflect our words.
I have created a few affirmations to help us all begin the new year
and the new decade.
Bountiful am I, Blissful am I, Beautiful am I
Tranquility and Understanding will surround me and
aide me in all decisions and predicaments.
I am vibrating with Love and Light
You can say these affirmations, or one’s that you create at any time of day.
Another way to affirm is to write your affirmations down on a piece of paper
and place it somewhere that you can will see it everyday.
We have the power to change the world, even if just starts with some simple words put
together to create a statement that will become a tangible shift in reality
Why is January the first month of the year?
The name, January, originated from the Roman God, Janus. He is
illustrated as having two faces, one facing the past and one facing the future. Our current calendar is the Julian calendar. Julius Cae-sar reformed the Roman calendar (ten months long) and added two
months, January and February. Janus was one of the original Ro-man Gods. He represented beginnings and endings, transitions,
and war and peace; it was said that Janus held the keys to the gates of heaven. This Roman God opened and closed the doors to heav-
en, he was the original gatekeeper.
In early Roman times, Janus was summoned in regular worships; the beginning of the day and month were sacred to him. Unity teaches us that our thoughts are our prayers. What negative thoughts, feelings or circumstances would you like to close and bring to an end? What loving thoughts and memories would you like to cross into the heaven of your consciousness and keep there? What beginnings do you want to start, no matter how intimidat-ing? What peace would you like to initiate? What war do you need to wage? What transitions would you like to nurture and bring to fruition?

welcome into our faith community a new musician. We are asking,
seeking and knocking for the fulfillment of this expectation. We are
asking you to assist in our seeking and knocking. Please pass this word
and encourage anyone who might be interested to contact the church at
309-682-8554 or [email protected]. When they knock we will
open the door for an interview and hopefully an employment agree-
ment. Your assistance is greatly appreciated.
Checklist for Cocreating a Transformative New Year
• I recognize that I am a sparkling gift from the cosmos. It is time to unwrap myself and share
myself with the entire world.
• I sing love songs to my soul. It’s not about carrying a tune; it’s about playing the symphony
that is me.
• I treasure my loved ones, even when they seem unlovable. It is in those toughest moments
they are saying most loudly, “Somebody, please love me.”
• I look each day in the mirror knowing: I am love made visible.
• I am an angel and an ancestor with this planet. My presence makes a difference—and also
leaves an echo of perfection for those who are yet to be born.
• I find adventure in every day. I have courage to do new things, big and small, and know this
inspires others to unwrap themselves for the world too.
• I recognize with every sadness I am blessed to have a heart cracked wide open. One of the
great mysteries in life is that by feeling our suffering we also invite in the possibility of feeling
great joy. Suffering and joy are your partners in wholeness.
• I delight in knowing my light has already illuminated darkened paths. My gaze has lifted bro-
ken spirits. My gentle life has changed the destiny of all I have touched.
• I carry the peace of the world within myself.
