The creation of Canyon Ranch stems directly from the experience of founder Mel Zuckerman, who—overweight, sedentary and desperate—checked himself into a fat farm in 1978. After just 10 days of physical training and healthy eating, he realized he felt wonderful, he’d changed his life forever, and he wanted to help other people change theirs.
Pursuing a vision of healthy living for everyone, Mel and his wife Enid opened the first Canyon Ranch destination resort spa in Tucson, Arizona in 1979.

FINANCEOur finance team partners with senior management to assist in meeting financial and strategic objectives. Proper accounting practices and internal controls are the backbone of the team’s daily routine. They are responsible for operating statements, multi-year capital analyses, revenue reporting, cost monitoring, annual budget preparation, and ad hoc analyses to provide appropriate insight into our overall operations. Our property-level finance teams are also supported by the corporate finance department, which provides them with resources and tools to evaluate development opportunities and strategic growth initiatives, and ensures consistent financial and accounting procedures across the organization.
REVENUE MANAGEMENTOur revenue management team supports key strategies for revenue optimization, including a flexible platform that allows for dynamic pricing and availability management. Delivering our product to market is a cornerstone of our success, so the department also maintains the foundation of our strong, scalable distribution infrastructure.
