1c. Sew (2) 2½” M squares to the opposite short sides of (1) flying geese unit to make a row unit. Make (2) row units. Sew together row units to make (1) M Star Block. Make an additional (4) N Star Blocks.
2. Appliqué blocks. Finished size: 8” x 8”
2a. Prepare tulip appliqué pieces using method of choice. Use appliqué block diagram for placement guide, arrange pieces on (1) 8½” K square. Once satisfied with placement, sew appliqué pieces in place using method of choice. Make a total of (4) blocks.
3. Pieced rows. Arrange and sew together (3) blocks to make a pieced row. Sew together pieced rows to complete quilt center, measuring 24½” x 24½” raw edge to raw edge.
Row 1 and 3: (2) tulip blocks and (1) star block.
Row 2: (3) star blocks.

Constructing Pieced Blocks
1. Star blocks. Finished Block Size: 8” x 8”
1a. Draw a diagonal line on the wrong side of (1) 2½” G square. Place square, RST, at a corner of (1) 2½” x 4½” M rectangle. Sew on drawn line. Trim ¼” away from sewn line. Repeat with another 2½” G square at the opposite corner of the same M rectangle to make a flying geese unit. Make a total of (4) flying geese units.
1b. Sew (2) flying geese units to the opposite sides of (1) 4½” G square to make a row unit.

Quilt Top Assembly
4. Inner border #1. Sew (2) 2½” X 24½” M strips to the left and right sides of quilt center, followed by (2) 2½” X 26½” M strips to the top and bottom of quilt center.
5. Inner border #2. Finished Block Size: 2” x 2”
5a. Draw a diagonal line on the wrong side of (1) 3” G square. Place square, RST, on (1) 3” K square. Sew ¼” away from, on left and right sdies of drawn line. Cut along drawn line to yield (2) HST units. Align diagonal seam of HST units against 45 degree of quilting ruler, trim HST units to meausre 2½” x 2½” raw edge to raw edge. Make a total of (36) HST units.
5b. Arrange and sew together (8) HST units and (5) 2½” K squares to make a column. Make (2) col-umns and sew to opposite sides of quilt center.
5c. Arrange and sew together (10) HST units and (5) 2½” K squares to make a row. Make (2) rows and sew to remaining opposite sides of quilt center.

6. Inner border #3.
6a. Sew (2) 3” x 30½” O strips to the left and right sides of quilt center, followed by (2) 3” x 35½” O strips to the top and bottom of quilt center.
7. Inner border #4. Finished block size: 5” x 5”
7a. Draw a diagonal line on the wrong side of (1) 1¾” N square. Place square, RST at a corner of (1) 1¾” x 3” K rectangle. Sew on drawn line. Trim ¼” away from sewn line. Open and press to reveal Fabric corner triangle. Repeat with another 1¾” N square at the opposite corner of the same K rect-angle to make (1) flying geese unit. Make a total of (4) flying geese units.
7b. Sew (2) flying geese units to the opposite sides of (1) 3” N square to make a row unit.

7c. Sew (2) 1¾” K squares to the opposite short sides of (1) flying geese unit to make a row unit. Make (2) row units. Sew together row units to make (1) star blocks. Make a total of (4) blocks each for N and P. [Note: (1) block N made in previous step].
7d. Sew (2) 5½” x 15½” K rectangles to the opposite sides of (1) P star block to make a column. Make (2) columns and sew to the opposite sides of quilt center.
7e. Sew (2) 5½” x 15½” K rectangles to the opposite sides of (1) P star block to make a row. Add (2) N stars to the opposite short ends of the row. Make a total of (2) pieced rows, and sew to the top and bottom of quilt center.
