Turkey is situated in a strategic place where continents, Asia and Europe, join. Turkey’s mathematical and strategic position has an effect on its social, politic and economic situation.
Geography of Turkey
Turkey is the homeland of many plants and animal species. While there are only 12.000 plant species in Europe, in Turkey the number of plants is 9000. In addition, Europe has 2750 endemic plant species; on the other hand, we have 3000 endemic plant species in Turkey.
The tree called “Sığla” is an endemic plant.

Climate The coastal areas of Turkey
bordering the Aegean Sea and the Mediterranean Sea have a temperateMediterranean climate with hot, dry summers and mild to cool, wet winters. The vegetation is maquis.
Black Sea climate, which is a kind of temperate Oceanic climate, is observed on the north part of Turkey, with a lot of rain in every season. The vegetation is forest.
The weather in Istanbul is hot and dry in summers while it is rainy and warm in winters. However, this winter was dry and there has been heavy rainfall in the last one month in Istanbul. Climatehas been changing and our climate is becoming Sub-tropical climate.
