Turn It Up: Press On! Phil. 2:12-18 Small Group Starters Use the following questions as ‘starters’ for your small group. Think of these questions like appetizers to get the conversation going. You are free to explore further questions or ideas that you may have from today’s message on Philippians 2:12-18 1. Which error is easier to fall into and why? 1. “Since I must work hard at my growth as a Christian I can take credit for my progress.” Or 2. “God produces any growth in me anyway, therefore any striving on my part is unnecessary.” 2. The Psalmists sometimes complained to the Lord. Is this ok? How does this fit with Paul’s command in Phil. 2:14? Where does faith and trust come into play? 3. If you’re in a bad situation (ie. at home or work) is it wrong to complain to those in charge? To a friend? 4. In what ways might a grumbling Christian veil the gospel message to an unbeliever, even if unintentionally? 5. How should the portrait of Christ in 2:6-11 motivate us to work out our salvation with fear and trembling? 6. Why is affirming the sovereignty of God in all things so important to living with joy rather than with grumbling?
