TURNHAM GREENAREA IMPROVEMENTCONSULTATION
INTRODUCTION
Over recent months the Chiswick Area Committee has beenconsidering outline ideas for improving Turnham Green andthe surrounding area.
These plans have been worked up into detailed proposals and arenow published for consultation with people who live or work locallyor use Turnham Green and the surrounding area.
The plans fall into four key categories as follows:
●Turnham Green -new benches,trees and litter bins,improvements and cleaning of the War Memorial andthe north east entrance,improvements to shrub bedsand paving and possible new paving and entrance.
●Barley Mow Passage -Proposals for new pavingand surfacing to improve pedestrian movement and generalenvironmental improvements including seating andimproved lighting.
●Turnham Green Transport/Traffic Scheme -Reversal of the direction of traffic on Town Hall Avenue tofacilitate more efficient movement of buses on routes E3 and 272 and to reduce queuing of traffic on Sutton Lane North.Signalisation of the Chiswick High Road/Town Hall Avenuejunction and the Heathfield Terrace/Sutton Court Road junction,including lights-controlled pedestrian crossings for improvedtraffic flows and pedestrian safety.
Note:Bus routes 27 and H91 would also be affected,howeverthe Council is negotiating with London Buses for these servicesto run entirely via Chiswick High Road,with route 27 eventually extended to Chiswick Business Park.This issue will be the subject of a separate consultation in the affected areas.
●Chiswick High Road -Dukes Road to Heathfield Terrace(the Post Office) - Proposals for new paving and surfacingto improve pedestrian movement,junction alterations to improve safety and traffic movement,additional parking bays and general environmental improvements including hard landscaping,street trees and shrub planting,seating,cycle stands and litter bins.
Each key change has been identified on the map in thisdocument numbered from 1 to 36.
Comments are welcomed on these plans,which will inform reportsto the Chiswick Area Committee in the Autumn.Implementationof the approved environmental improvements will take place inthe Autumn/Winter/Spring 2005/06.An application has been madeto Transport for London for funding for the transport and trafficimprovements in 2006

TURNHAM GREEN IMPROVEMENTS
