  • Go to the Shreveport Nursing page
  • Click Online Tutorials
  • Click PubMed PowerPoint
  • Click File
  • Click Save As and save to a floppy or to your hard drive
  • Open the PowerPoint slide show from your floppy or hard drive
  • Click View
  • Click Notes Page (and then you will be able to edit if you wish)

  • Look for the full-text icons (electronic or print)
  • Use the MeSH database for official terms,subheadings, and restrictions
  • Use the tutorials in PubMed to become an expert searcher
  • Use the Limits button to narrow search (decrease the number of hits)

  • Search the NSU Journal List for the complete journal title to get to full-text articles
  • Compare citation to Library Catalog print holdings statement for print journals

  • Be aware that double quotes and the asterisk * can retrieve different hits!
  • Use the History button to combine and review searches
  • Capitalize Boolean operators, AND, OR, NOT
  • Explode terms to increase or broaden the search
