Pax et bonum!
Celebrating our liturgical festivities in honor of Saint Benedict, postponed since July due to the pandemic, we have had the most gratifying visit of our pastor and bishop, Cardinal Seán P. O'Malley, OCD.
We want to highlight all his joy of being in our midst and of sharing his experience of being a disciple of Jesus, encouraging us, as missionary disciples, to let ourselves fall in love with Jesus and his Word, heard in silence and meditation, so in the same way, we could have a personal relationship with Jesus, and after recognizing our personal limitations that we may have as humans, sprout our apostolate and our evangelizing mission. Thank you, Cardinal O’Malley, for visiting us and sharing your joy.
We take this opportunity to thank all the apostolate groups, all those who were present, the choir, those who helped at the altar, and those who made the floral arrangements.
We remember all immigrants this month, when we celebrate the Hispanic-Latino Heritage Month. Let’s advocate for work in unity and diversity.
We remind you that on Friday, October 29th, we will have a biblical meeting in English, in conjunction with Sacred Hearts Parish, to begin the reading of the Gospel of Luke. Save the date, Friday, October 29th from 3:00 pm to 4:30 pm in the Saint Benedict Parish convent building.
May the saints we celebrate this week encourage us to continue our journey of faith

En el marco celebrativo de nuestras festividades litúrgicas en honor a San Benito, diferidas desde julio por la pandemia, hemos tenido la gratísima visita de nuestro pastor y obispo, el Cardenal Seán P. O’Malley, OCD.
Queremos destacar ante todo su alegría de estar en medio nuestro y de compartir su experiencia de ser discípulo de Jesús animándonos a que, como discípulos misioneros, nos dejemos enamorar por la Palabra de Dios escuchada en el silencio y la meditación para que así, de esa fuente de relación personal con Jesús, reconociendo las limitaciones personales que podamos tener, brote nuestro apostolado y nuestra misión evangelizadora. Gracias, Sr. Cardenal, por visitarnos y compartir su alegría.
Aprovechamos para agradecer a todos los grupos de apostolado, a todos los que estuvieron presentes, al coro, a los que ayudaron en el altar, a los que ayudaron con los arreglos florales.
Recordamos a todos los inmigrantes en este mes, mes de la herencia hispana-latina. Que trabajemos por la unidad en la diversidad.
Les recordamos que el próximo lunes 18 de octubre tendremos un encuentro bíblico en español, en unión con la parroquia Sagrados Corazones, para iniciar la lectura del evangelio de Lucas. Reserva la fecha, lunes 18 de octubre de 7:45pm-9:30pm, en la iglesia parroquial de San Benito.

Use us to do your work, open us to your will and give us the graces to be your light in East Somerville. Lord, set our hearts on fire for love of you and lead through our doors more and more parishioners willing to join our parish in loving service to you and our neighbors. Deepen our faith, deepen our joy and deepen our love of you. Make us holy, that we can be a parish that embodies all that you desire a catholic community to be. We ask that you lead St. Benedict to give us your inspiration and guidance and that you send St. Michael to protect us at your bidding from all evil. We ask this through your Son and our Lord, Jesus Christ, Amen.
