St. John the Baptist Parish Mission Statement

Established in 1922, the parish family of

St. John the Baptist Church welcomes

and invites all people to our community,

especially those in need. Guided by the Holy Spirit we

are sustained by the Sunday Eucharist, the Word of

God, and the Sacraments. All are encouraged to

share their time, talent and treasure as we grow in

love through our Catholic faith and the life, death and

resurrection of Our Lord Jesus Christ.

Please consider “automated giving” as you reflect on support of our

parish family! The fruitful ministries at our parish are exam-

ples of how many of you have answered, and

continue to answer, that call. To ensure such

work can continue requires not only gifts of

time, but also of financial help. I ask you to

prayerfully consider supporting our parish

with electronic donations through Faith

Direct. You can find paper enrollment forms

in the parish office, or you can sign up online at www.faithdirect.net by using our

church code, NY67.

Two New Sunday/Weekday Vestments

are available to be donated in memory of a loved one.

Please speak to Father Frank

The Worship Reflection Group has resumed its

work this past week with the first meeting of the

fall on Monday, September 11th.

Those Unable to Participate in the Communion

Procession: Communion is distributed at 4 sta-

tions, and we are determining the seating areas

that will be designated for those who cannot easily walk and be part of the

procession.

Meeting for Lectors: Before Advent, a date will be chosen for the lectors to

gather, learn about the new Lector Handbook/Guide, and discuss any practical

matters for these liturgical ministers.

Making Christmas “Midnight” Mass More Special: We will work with the

Music Coordinator and prepare a special music program for the timebefore

mass begins.

Holydays of Obligation: The assignment of all liturgical ministers will be co-

ordinated so that the two masses are adequately covered.

Working with Youth Ministry: As youth ministry gets underway over the next

months, we will be working especially on music to make the Eucharist more

inviting for teens and young people.

Children’s Liturgy of the Word

Our children love to listen to God’s Word together and have their own “homily” at their level.

At the beginning of the 9:15 and 11:15 masses, children are invited to leave church with the catechist. They return to mass at the time of the Offertory and

re-join us for the rest of the Sunday mass. We will begin again on October 15th.

The Mass Intention Book for the

coming year is now open.

Please make your arrangements by

visiting the Parish Office in person.

Mass intentions are on a first-come,

first-served basis.

You may also make your

arrangements through the mail.

Parish Office Hours: Mon-Thurs, 9-5.
