TWENTY NINTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME: BAPTIZED AND SENT - MISSION SUNDAY I love Mission Sunday, it invokes in me a great sense of being Church, of responding to our call from Christ. This year having Extraordinary Mission Month, it has made me reflect on my past understanding of being a missionary, my current situation and what is God calling me to do. First of all, we are all missionaries, we may not always acknowledge that, but with this year´s theme, we cannot deny it. Since our baptism we have been anointed priests, prophets and kings in Christ Jesus. Of course little old me, 54 years ago, didn´t grasp the implications. Even through all of my catechism years, the idea grew, but the commitment was far from me. I heard through the life of saints, how many left all to pursue their call in foreign lands where the word of God was not known. We had missionaries come in from Africa, the Americas and other parts that would talk about their call, their mission and what was needed. It wasn´t till my later teens, where I was invited to join the Congregation of the Mission, the Vincentians, that a whole new world was beginning to open up for me. Even though I had entered a community for the mission, I began to understand that that call, began so many years back. That even though I appreciated the call to leave your country, your home, your friends, what you knew and possessed; I could have stayed home and also do some good as a child of God and member of His Church. I could mission wherever I was, if I was open to it. Many times I did, without fully acknowledging it. I guess, like many of us, we were cradle Catholics, we were nurtured in our faith and it flowed through us. It made us sensitive to our environment and its needs. Today I have been back in the USA for over 15 years, the call is to a different mission, but it can still be effective and is truly needed. I hope and pray that I am responding to the daily call to be present and in service to the people of our community, those within the church walls and those outside, our neighbors; those in our country and those abroad, especially those in need. We cannot deny that there are still places that have not known God and it continues to call us. We cannot deny that God continues to call us to spread the Good News, to be Good News, to plant the seed of the Kingdom through word and work. The call to leave our comfortable and safe places and go into the peripheries in whatever shape or form that may come. Today we are asked to think about it and be generous for the many missions in the world; we are asked to renew our own call to mission. To be open to God´s call, do what we can to nourish our lives, but also to go into the world to be light and salt for all. To lead unselfish lives, willing to follow Christ in the service of our neighbor. Let us count our blessings, especially all those who went before us and said yes to Christ. Let´s start with our Mother Mary, the disciples and all who came afterwards till our present day. May we be counted among the many living loving and intentional lives for the Lord.

VIGÉSIMO NOVENA DOMINGO DEL TIEMPO ORDINARIO: BAUTIZADOS Y ENVIADOS - DOMUND

Amo el Domingo de Misiones, me invoca un gran sentido de ser Iglesia, de responder a la llamada de Cristo. Este año, que tenemos el Mes de la Misión Extraordinaria, me ha hecho reflexionar sobre mi comprensión pasada de ser un misionero, mi situación actual y lo que Dios me está llamando a hacer. En primer lugar, todos somos misioneros, no siempre podemos reconocerlo, pero con el tema de este año, no podemos negarlo. Desde nuestro bautismo hemos sido ungidos sacerdotes, profetas y reyes en Cristo Jesús. Por supuesto, mi pequeño ser, hace 54 años, no comprendía las implicaciones. Incluso durante todos mis años de catecismo, la idea creció, pero el compromiso estaba lejos de mí. Escuché a través de la vida de los santos, cuántos dejaron todo para perseguir su llamada en tierras extranjeras donde no se conocía la palabra de Dios. Tuvimos misioneros de África, América y otras partes que hablaban sobre su llamada, su misión y lo que se necesitaba. No fue hasta mi adolescencia avanzada, cuando me invitaron a unirme a la Congregación de la Misión, los Vicentinos, que un mundo completamente nuevo comenzaba a abrirse para mí. A pesar de que había ingresado en una comunidad para la misión, comencé a comprender que esa llamada comenzó hace muchos años. Que a pesar de que aprecié la llamada para dejar su país, su hogar, sus amigos, lo que sabía y poseía; podría haberme quedado en casa y también hacer algo bueno como hijo de Dios y miembro de su Iglesia. Podría ser misionero en cualquier lugar, si estuviese abierto a ello. Muchas veces lo hice, sin reconocerlo completamente. Supongo que, como muchos de nosotros, católicos de cuna, nuestra fe se nutrió y fluyó a través de nosotros. Nos hizo sensibles a nuestro entorno y a las necesidades que surgían. Hoy después de 15 años de vuelta a los Estados Unidos, la llamada es a una misión diferente, pero aún puede ser efectiva y realmente necesaria. Espero y rezo para responder a la llamada diariamente a estar presente y al servicio de las personas de nuestra comunidad, los que están dentro de los muros de la iglesia y los que están afuera, nuestros vecinos; aquellos en nuestro país y en el extranjero, especialmente los más necesitados. No podemos negar que todavía hay lugares que no han conocido a Dios y que continúa llamándonos. No podemos negar que Dios continúa llamándonos para difundir la Buena Nueva, para ser Buena Nueva, para plantar la semilla del Reino a través de la palabra y el trabajo. La llamada a abandonar nuestros lugares cómodos y seguros y adentrarnos en las periferias en cualquier forma que se presente. Hoy se nos pide que lo pensemos y seamos generosos para las muchas misiones en el mundo; se nos pide renovar nuestra propia llamada a la misión. Estar abiertos a la llamada de Dios, hacer lo que podemos para nutrir nuestras vidas, pero también para ir al mundo para ser luz y sal para todos. Para llevar una vida desinteresada, dispuesta a seguir a Cristo en el servicio de nuestro prójimo. Contemos nuestras bendiciones, especialmente todos los que nos precedieron y dijeron sí a Cristo. Comencemos con nuestra Madre María, los discípulos y todos los que vinieron después hasta llegar nuestros días. ¡Qué seamos contados entre las muchas vidas amorosas e intencionales para el Señor!

Message of His Holiness Pope Francis for World Mission Sunday 2019 Baptized and Sent: The Church of Christ on Mission in the World

Four spiritual dimensions from the message of Pope Francis for the celebration of World Mission Sunday Personal Encounter with Jesus Christ Alive in the Church “Celebrating this (Extraordinary Missionary) month will help us first to rediscover the missionary dimension of our faith in Jesus Christ, a faith graciously bestowed on us in baptism…. Through our commun-ion with God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, we, together with so many of our other brothers and sisters, are born to new life…. This mis-sionary mandate touches us personally: I am a mission, always: you are a mission, always; every baptized man and woman is a mission…. Each of us is a mission to the world, for each of us is the fruit of God’s love…. From eternity (God) has destined each of His children to share in His divine and eternal life (cf. Eph 1:3-6).” Witness of Missionary Saints and Martyrs “How many saints, how many men and women of faith, witness to the fact that this unlimited openness, this going forth in mercy, is indeed possible and realistic, for it is driven by love and its deepest meaning as gift, sacrifice and gratuitousness (cf. 2 Cor 5:14-21)! The man who preaches God must be a man of God (cf. Maximum Illud).” Catechesis in Missionary Discipleship “The Church is on mission in the world… A Church that presses forward to the farthest frontiers requires a constant and ongoing missionary conversion…. Our mission, then, is rooted in the fatherhood of God and the motherhood of the Church. The mandate given by the Risen Jesus at Easter is inherent in Baptism: as the Father has sent me, so I send you, filled with the Holy Spirit, for the reconciliation of the world (cf. Jn 20:19-23; Mt 28:16-20). This mission is part of our identity as Christians…. The missio ad gentes, which is always necessary for the Church, thus contributes in a fundamental way to the process of ongoing conversion in all Christians.” Charity to Mission “Charity, of which we have a foretaste in the sacraments and in fra-ternal love, impels us to go forth to the ends of the earth (cf. Mic 5:4; Mt 28:19; Acts 1:8; Rom 10:18…. The Pontifical Mission Societies serve the Church’s universality as a global network of support for the Pope in his missionary commitment by prayer, the soul of mission, and charitable offerings from Christians throughout the world. Their donations assist the Pope in the evangelization efforts of particular Churches (the Pontifical Society for the Propagation of the Faith)…. In renewing my support for these Societies, I trust that the Extraordi-nary Missionary Month of October 2019 will contribute to the re-newal of their missionary service to my ministry.”

Evangelize the poor as our Lord and in the same way he did, using the same weapons, fighting the passions and desires to have riches, pleasures and honors! It is true that our Lord did not have these defects or these passions, but he admirably and eminently practiced virtues contrary to these defects, desires and passions, namely, poverty, chastity and obedience. OMG! As far as he took the practice of these virtues! Be born poor, live poor and die poor! Purity and chastity were admirable in him. ”

Empower us by the gifts of the Holy Spirit to be courageous and zealous in bearing witness to the Gospel, so that the mission entrusted to the Church, which is still very far from completion, may find new and efficacious expressions That bring life and light to the world. Help us make it possible for all peoples to experience the saving love and mercy of Jesus Christ, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, One God, forever and ever. Amen.

Octubre Mes Extraordinario de Misionero Padre celestial, cuando tu unigénito Hijo Jesucristo resucitó de entre los muertos, comisionó a sus seguidores a "ir y hacer discípulos a todas las naciones" y nos recuerdas que a través de nuestro bautismo se nos hace partícipes de la misión de la Iglesia. Infant Baptism Birth to 6 yrs. Infant baptisms are celebrated on the first Sunday of every month. Baptism preparation class for parents and Godparents are held on the Tuesday prior to the Baptism Sunday. Parent(s) or Godparent(s), please bring an original birth certificate of the child to the main office where you can begin the process of registration for this beautiful sacrament.

Children’s Faith Formation ages 7 yrs. to 15 yrs. (Baptism, First Holy Communion, Confirmation) Our Children’s Faith Formation program provides preparation of the Holy Sacraments for children. The program follows Diocesan Guidelines for the Rite of Christian Initiation of Children. The hours for children's faith formation classes are Sunday, 9:30 A.M. -1:00 P.M.

Pentecost Confirmation 16 yrs. and older Are you baptized and received First Holy Communion but have not completed the Sacrament of Confirmation and you are over the age of 16? Our Confirmation only program begins in January in preparation for Pentecost Confirmation typically at the end of May or beginning of June.

Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (R.C.I.A.) (Becoming a Catholic)

LOS SACRAMENTOS Bautismo para bebes nacimiento a 6 años

Los bautismos para bebes se celebran el primer domingo de cada mes. La clase de preparación del bautismo para los padres y padrinos es el martes antes del domingo del bautismo. Padres o Padrinos, traiga el certificado de nacimiento original del niño a la oficina principal donde pueden comenzar el proceso de inscripción para este hermoso sacramento.

Formación de Fe para Niños 7 años hasta 15 años (Bautismo, Primera Comunión, Confirmación) El programa de formación de fe para nuestros niños se prepara los niños para sus Sacramentos.
