An enterprising person is one who sees opportunity in all areas of life. To be enterprising is to keep your eyes open and your mind active. It’s to be skilled enough, confident enough, creative enough and disciplined enough to seize opportunities that present themselves... regardless of the economy. A person with an enterprising attitude says, “Find out what you can before action is taken.” Do your homework. Do the research. Be prepared. Be resourceful. Do all you can in preparation of what’s to come. Enterprising people always see the future in the present. Enterprising people always find a way to take advantage of a situation, not be burdened by it. And enterprising people aren’t lazy. They don’t wait for opportunities to come to them, they go after the opportunities. Enterprise means always finding a way to keep yourself actively working toward your ambition. Enterprise is two things. The first is creativity. You need creativity to see what’s out there and to shape it to your advantage. You need creativity to look at the world a little differently. You need creativity to take a different approach, to be different. What goes hand-in-hand with the creativity of enterprise is the second requirement: the courage to be creative. You need courage to see things differently, courage to go against the crowd, courage to take a different approach, courage to stand alone if you have to, courage to choose activity over inactivity. And lastly, being enterprising also means feeling good enough about yourself, having enough self-worth to want to seek advantages and opportunities that will make a difference in your future. And by doing so you will increase your confidence, your courage, your creativity and your self-worth—your enterprising nature.

Keeping you Informed, Empowered and Prepared

Creating Opportunityby Jim Rohn

An enterprising person is one who comes across a pile of scrap metal and sees the making of a wonderful sculpture. An enterprising person is

one who sees opportunity in all areas of life.

Coaches’ CornerHope. A powerful word that encompasses a positive view of one’s future. When unsure, we all hope.

As a TCR! participant and as TCR! coaches, we hope for that call back, interview and job offer. Coaches affirm, direct, ask and outline activity that has been spelled out each foundation in an Accountability Agreement.

Look at these agreements as your reason to hope. Stay focused and watch that hope turn into accomplishment.

My most recent position was with Wells Fargo Bank as the Community Banking Manager.

3. What’s your favorite part about working at TCR!?

I really enjoy having the opportunity to use my acquired skills along with my life experiences to meet our participants where they are. Realizing how my role as the Director of Employer Services, fits into the success of individual lives.

People are usually surprised when they find out that I am a grandmother of six!!

Education Extra: The latest class updates at TCR!Welcome to our new full-time instructor, Suzanne Williams! Suzanne, who joined the TCR staff at the start of the May session, brings a wealth of experience and enthusiasm to her new role. She is currently in training, observing and preparing for the courses she will begin teaching during the August session.

While she’s based in Saint Paul, she will be a regular presence at both sites. Suzanne looks forward to getting to know all of you and acting as a strong resource on your behalf. When you see her,

please welcome her aboard!

Midterms are coming! The evaluations you receive in Week 5 are a chance to keep up the back-and-forth between you, your coach, and your instructors. The more you dive into the questions at the end of each form, the more engaged you’ll be with each class – and the more likely you’ll be to get the most you can out of the program and move on to full time employment. We take the feedback process very seriously here at TCR!, and we look forward to hearing your thoughts and plans!

From the Desk of Volunteer Services...In-Class Tutors: Please make sure you are taking advantage of the in-class assistant and tutor volunteers in your workplace communication, writing fundamentals and computers classes this session.

CD3 and AJS Class participants: We are half way through Session 3 and it’s that time again for mock interviews! Please make sure you are taking time to prepare for these opportunities to partner with volunteers in practicing your interviewing skills.

Remember to mark your calendars for the following mock interviewing opportunities for the remainder of the session: 6/24, 6/25, 7/1, 7/2, 7/8 and 7/9.

CD3 class participants: Please note the upcoming off-site Mock Interview events at RBC Wealth Management on 6/24 and Faegre Bakers Daniels, LLP on 7/8. This will be an exciting experience, so make sure you have your resume and job descriptions prepared prior to this event. And, don’t forget to “dress to impress!”
