Prophet Muhammad Had revelations

from Allah, or God, from the Angel Gabriel

He believed that he was last of prophets and that there was one true God, Allah.

He began to preach and convert others

People in Mecca feared that traditional gods would be neglected and no one would come to the city anymore to trade.

Muhammad flees Mecca and goes to Medina (called Hijrah).

Muhammad is great leader in Medina, converting and uniting people.

Muhammad returns to Mecca with 10,000 men, takes the city, and converts everyone.

Mecca is now a Muslim center.

Islam teaches that: There is only one

God, Allah Each person is

responsible for his own actions

Every Muslim must “submit” to God.

The Qur’an is the word of Allah given to the prophet Muhammad

Muslims do not separate personal from religious life.
