TWO DAYS COURSE ON 'PRELIMINARY RECTANGULARWIRE BENDING IN STRAIGHT WIRE TECHNIQUE'
A two days hand on course on "Preliminary Rectangular Wire bending in Straight Wire Technique' washeld by the Dep artment of Orthodontics, ModernDental College & Research Centre, Indore on 29th &30th September, 2008 under the Continuing DentalEducation and Research promotion programme of theCollege.The course was conducted by Professor Dr. AshimaValiathan , the Chairp erson of Pierre Fauchard Academy, India Section . Professor & Head Department ofOrthodontics and Director P.G. Studies . KMC College of Dental Surgery, Manipal along with her teamof faculty members Dr. Sivakumar and Dr. Surnit Gandhi . 'I'he course was attended by 40 pustgraduatestudents from various Dental Col leges of Jaipur ,Ahmedabad, Baroda, Chennai, Bhopal and Indore.
Dr. Ashima Valiathan was also the Chief Guest at theinaugura l function whic h was atte nded by elite ofdental profession of Indore and Bhopal.Dr. Valiathan in her inaugural address said that thecontinuing dental education programm e are the needof the time and appreciated the efforts of the collegemanagement especially the initiative taken and incentives offered in this direction by the Chairman Dr.Ramesh Badlani.Feed back questionaire received from participan tsrevealed an encouraging response and sense of greatsatisfaction from the parti cipan ts. Most of the participants expressed that such hand on courses beconducted more frequent ly and could be of one weekduration or even more and held across the countryinvolving more institutions.

A scientifi c proeram for updating the knowledgeof Pediatric Dentistry oxpertu uud general dental practitioners was inaugurated by Brig. (HOllY.) Dr. AnilKohli, President, Dental Council of India, at the ITSCentre for Dental Studies and Research, Murad Nagar,on 18th Aug, 2008.
Dr. P.B. Sood, Principal, ITS-CDSR, welcomed theparticipants and informed that this update comprisesof very senior experts in various specialities of dentistry. There were Vice-chancellors, Deans, Principalsand Head of Departments among the panel of expertsaddressed the two day gathering in the institute. Healso informed that the participants of this update arefrom north to south and each part of the country. DrHari Prakash, Director-General, ITS Group of Dental Institutions apprised the gathering about importance of such programs on over all development ofthe specia lity and finally to give benefit to the society.

Dr Anil Kohli, Chief Gues t, President, DentalCouncil of India, released a publication of DCI entitles 'DENT ISTRY INDIA' continuing Dental Education, 2nd issue and a book on Paediatric Dentistryauthored by Dr. Shobha Tondon, Dean, College ofDental Sciences , Manipal Academy of Higher Education. After inaugurating the Update, Dr Kohli expressed his eagerness to make the dental institutionsbetter for the students and patients.
Dr. S. G. Damle, Vice Chancellor, Maharis hiMarkandeshwar University, Mullana , Ambala, elaborated on Oral Health and Fluorides whileDr. Sho bhaTondon, Dean, College of Dental Sciences, ManipalAcademy of Higher Education, gave clinical tips onSmile Enhancement. in Pediatric Patients .
