Writing his unique undecipherable calligraphy on each of the bamboo stalks, Wang Dongling, the creator, attempts to echo an ancient Chinese natural scene, where scholars share poems together, to offer a fascinating contemporary twist on a classic form. Arguably the greatest combat and adventure photographer in history, he subsequently covered five wars, including the War of Resistance Against Japa- nese Aggression in China, with his photos published in major magazines and newspapers. Capa later co-founded Magnum Photos in Paris. The organiza- tion was the first cooperative agency for worldwide freelance photographers. Their self-produced debut album “Rise and Shine, the Sun Is Up,” as well as their energetic live shows, earned them a slew of accolades, including favorable comparisons to “Explosions in the Sky.” Thomas Schoeffler Jr. from France will perform a gig Sunday, presenting a mix of catchy urban blues and crazy country melody. His songs delve into despair, wandering and sad love. His debut album “Daddy’s Not Going Home” released in 2012 earned him a place and a name in the blues world. Taking inspiration from ritual objects, architecture, funereal monuments, post-apocalyptic narratives and zoomorphic forms, her painstakingly crafted and glazed ceramic sculptures are the ruins of lost futures and the ghost of impossible homecomings. It is a 2016 mystery thriller film directed by Ron Howard and written by David Koepp, based on the 2013 novel of the same name by Dan Brown. The film is the sequel to “The Da Vinci Code” and “Angels and Demons,” and is the third installment in the Robert Lang- don film series. It stars Tom Hanks, reprising his role as Robert Langdon. Together with the previous film, it remains Hanks’ only live-action sequel. Time: 7:35 p.m., Aug. 25 ‘One Man Hamlet’ Shenzhen-based British theater actor William Mann will pres- ent his one-man show “One Man Hamlet.” Mann seeks to present to the audience his interpretation of Shakespeare’s masterpiece by using a simple red carpet as a stage and with candles as the only lighting to show us Hamlet’s tormented mind when he is called upon to revenge the murder of his father. Before moving to Shenzhen in 2010, Mann had a long career as a Shakespearean actor and director in Europe, staging performances in coun- tries such as Norway, Ireland, Italy and France. He has also devoted six years to running his China Shakespeare Company, and his passion for acting has always motivated him to bring forth new ideas.
