What’s In YOUR Library?
This newsletter showcases some of the print resources the college library still subscribes to for your academic research and personal interest. The library website also offers a plethora of resources available 24/7. This site has recently been updated by Nicole Kirby, the Library Information Specialist, and can now be found at <taoslibrary.unm.edu>. There are videos to watch, links to follow, and e-books to access. Our hope is that you will bookmark this site on your device and begin to explore all that it has to offer. We highlight the print resources in each newsletter and encourage you to access the online resources, but we also want to remind you of the human resources who are ready and willing to help, either virtually or in person. We are currently hiring one more student employee, but have a full staff of competent, caring, Master-level librarians with 21st century skills who are always willing to help. All told, we have close to 50 years of library experience. As the Information Specialist on the Library team, Nicole Kirby has a Master’s degree in Library and Information Science and brings pure passion to the profession. Her mindset is to continually come up with innovative ideas to meet patrons’ needs and get everyone excited about libraries. Dave Mansfield, the Assistant Librarian, worked in public libraries for approximately 7 years, and has been at YOUR college library for the past two years. He is not only very knowledgeable about navigating around library resources, he’s also a professor in the Digital Media Arts program. His technical skills add another level of expert assistance for our patrons. YOUR college library really appreciates student employees and the way they connect with their peers. Brandon Martinez has only been with YOUR Library team for six months, but you would never know it. He’s had years of experience in various management and supervisory positions before becoming a student at UNM-Taos. He is very patient with the library patrons, and can help you get over any anxiety you may have around using YOUR Library materials and resources. Lastly, Kathleen Knoth, YOUR college Library Director, started the UNM-Taos Library in 1995. Prior to that, she worked in the profession for 10 years after earning her Masters in Library Science. Much has changed in the last 30 years in the library and information world, but it’s an exciting challenge that YOUR library director embraces with the end goal of best serving the needs of the patrons. Please reach out to any of the staff at YOUR college library whether it’s for personal, professional or academic assistance. YOUR library is stocked with great digital, print, and human resources. Stop by YOUR library and find treasure today!
