WHY LED? TECHNOLOGY BEHIND

Over the past decades, the lighting industry was shaped by new rapidly evolving

lighting technologies and applications. LEDs (Light Emitting Diodes) are semiconductor

devices that convert electricity into light. Their tiny sizes and low power consumption

render them a competent indicator, perfectly suitable for visual indication on

points such as computers, digital clocks, radios, and remote controls.

LED technology have advanced result over the years in many ways today in:

• A rapidly growing potential for these small electronic devices;

• Continuous material and semiconductor advancement;

• The significant improvement of visible brightness, form factor and switching response resulting in new and unique applications;

• LED data processing capable of displaying text, graphics and images;

• Recently developed White LEDs for general lighting.

Continuous improvements in LED lighting technology promise to not only

allow LEDs to replace the ordinary light bulb, but also to become the most

common device utilized in today’s society.

LEDs differ completely from other light

sources such as filament lamps, discharge

lamps and fluorescent tubes, not only in

size and rendering, but especially in regard

to their operation. The light emittance is

initiated through an electroluminescence

injection, an emittance of light through the

release of energy during the exchange of

positively and negatively-charged atoms.

While conventional light bulbs produce light

through the heating of filament to the point

where it gives off light; fluorescent light bulbs

produce light through excited atoms emitting

light through fluorescence; discharge lamps

emit light by applying a certain pressure on

mercury inside the light bulb.

WHITE LINE – The sophistication of White Light

White LEDs have undergone vast improvements and now be applied to a

variety of lighting scenarios, from architectural, commercial, hospitality to

re ta i l . The ambience o f an env i ronment can be set by the co lor

temperature of surrounding light to influences mood and perception,

shopping behavior, and levels of concentration.

Cold White

Perceived cooler shades of white create a sense of cleanliness and clarity.

These color tones are applicable to museums and galleries, jewelry or

high-tech electronics stores, and other areas requiring extremely high

visibility. Glass, diamonds, crystals, and precious metals such as silver

and platinum, reflect beautifully in these Cold White settings.

Warm White

Perceived warmer shades of white create a sense of intimacy and comfort.

These tones can be well applied in recreation and hospitality areas such as

restaurants and hotels, as well as in libraries, book stores, retail fashion

stores, and cosmetic boutiques. Skin tones and fabrics appear warmer and

with richer saturations, when shown under warm color temperatures. Similarly,

rubies, pearls and gold are well accentuated in these Warm White hues.

Dynamic White™

In addition to the wide range of lighting applications for Cold White and Warm

White, Traxon’ s Dynamic White™ adds a flexible White lighting system to

its range, which can further alter the atmosphere of any environment.

Dynamic White™ Luminaires emit a color temperature spectrum ranging

from Cold White to Warm White, within a single fixture. Users can adjust

the atmosphere of a location according to the time of day or desired effect.

To define the exact shade of white, White Light is measured in color

temperature along the Black Body Curve, rather than using the CIE

Chromaticity Diagram, commonly used to describe the wavelengths at

which colored light is emitted. The position along the Black Body Curve

is equivalent to the color of a black iron body being heated to thousands

of degree Kelvin. These ‘color temperatures’ have been defined and can

be la id over the Chromat ic i ty D iagram, resu l t ing in a Corre lated

Chromaticity Temperature (CCT), referring to the closest point in the

diagram to the Black Body Temperature.

Whereas various temperatures of White Light can be achieved along the

Chromaticity Diagram using the addit ive mixing feature of Traxon’ s

Professional RGB products, Traxon’ s White Line exclusively uses

dedicated White LEDs. These fixtures are available in Cold White, Warm

White, or Traxon’ s Dynamic White™, which seamlessly phases between

Warm and Cold White color temperatures.

Understanding the precision in choosing the right color temperature,

Traxon offers its Cold White and Warm White in customizable color

temperatures. Traxon’ s Dynamic White™ combines Cold White and Warm

White LEDs, spanning a comprehensive range of color temperatures to

suit refined White applications.

of high-power fixtures for indoor and outdoor usage.

The high-br ightness l ine exclus ive ly uses h igh

intensity LEDs (available in 350mA and 700mA) to

generate a consistent h igh-power l ight output

across the entire range.

The fully RoHS-compliant luminaires are customized

in all of their elements: various choices of beam

angles with high-precision optics; any combination

of LED color; extrusion size; LED type; indoor or

outdoor rating.

The sophisticated design of the high-brightness luminaires

with high-grade aluminum extrusion and integrated

heat sensors (Wall Washer range), guarantees optimal

thermal management. Separating the power control

components from the fixture helps to prolong component

lifetime and allows easy maintenance.

Traxon’ s Monochrome Strip is a dedicated on/off solution especially designed for enriching any indoor installation with crisp shades of Cold White or Warm White lighting effects. Its ultra-slim profile (13mm or 16mm with optional housing) and low installation height (12mm only or 21mm with optional housing) enables an integration into the most space restr icted designs. Twelve high-intensity SMD LEDs per Monochrome Strip guarantee an evenly bright light output in a wide 120 ° beam angle. Simple interconnection allows Monochrome Strip to be daisy-chained up to 4.4m per power run. LED ENGINE XB-SD

The LED Engine XB-SD is a six-mode operated LED controller for up to 18 DMX channels on 6 outputs for 700mA luminaires and 36 DMX channels on 12 outputs for 350mA luminaires. The fully-integrated power supply makes the LED Engine XB-SD an al l-round control terminal enabling simple power control, for Plug ‘n’ Play installations of the entire XB Luminaires product range. LED Engine XB-SD can run in Standalone or Master/Slave mode and is controlled via a dedicated on-board LCD panel with 10 operation buttons or externally via DMX controller, such as the Traxon Micro Server. With a built-in FX engine, the LED Engine XB-SD allows for a large variety of pre-programmed as well as user-defined shows i n S tanda lone mode o r i n te rconnec ted i n Mas te r -S l ave configuration. FLICKER FREE Technology ensures smooth and seamless dimming curves on all connected XB fixtures. The advanced versions of the LED Engine XB-SD are available with a 19” rack mounting option.
