To maximise network protection, the PANDUIT Shielded Copper Cabling System isearthed at multiple points to ensure unwanted noise energy is safely moved to themain earth point.
Earthing Solutions to Protect Your Investment
A key element of a shielded cabling systemis the proper earthing of all metallic parts. Toensure sensitive communication equipmentis fully protected from potentially damagingcurrents PANDUIT has developed acomprehensive grounding and earthing solution.
Noise and electrical spikes can cause faultydata signals and dropped packets, thus reducingthe bandwidth and overall efficiency of yournetwork. Since unshielded twisted pair cablescannot be perfectly balanced, they cannotcompletely compensate for the effects of noiseand electrical spikes. With shielded cables, noise is prevented from reaching the cable pairin the first place.
In addition, Electro-Magnetic Interference (EMI)can also degrade network performance. EMIis any low or high frequency electromagneticdisturbance that can interrupt or limit theeffective performance of electrical equipment.Radio Frequency Interference (RFI) is aparticular form of EMI which emanates fromdevices such as:
• Bluetooth
• WLAN appliances
• GPS navigation systems
• Aeronautical/ILS glide path systems
• TV broadcasting
• Wireless phones
Make sure your network is protected with aPANDUIT Shielded Copper Cabling System.
The system earthing protectionstarts at the jack module with 360°fully wrapped shielding.
The connector is then mechanicallybonded to the patch panel.
The patch panel is bonded to theequipment rack for protection withbonding screws.
Finally, the entire system is bondedto the common bonding networklocated in the floor. The completesystem is earthed for protectionfrom EMI/RFI.

TX6 ™ 10GIG ™ Shielded Copper Cabling System
With today’s network architecture and server consolidation, 10 Gigabit Ethernet is an ideal technology for fast
data transfers. The bandwidth it provides is highly advantageous for real-time application response, web caching
and parallel processing. This extra bandwidth is especially important with network interface cards and switches
that utilise accelerated TCP/IP stacks to boost system performance.
The system supports useable bandwidth designed to exceed ISO 11801 Class E Edition 2.1 specifications to
500 MHz in a 4-connector 100 metre channel model. With exceptionally high electrical performance levels of
the cabling system and the new line-encoding scheme of PAM-12 being developed by the IEEE 802.3an task
force, data rates of 10 Gb/sec can be achieved.
Fundamental design specifications, implemented by PANDUIT, to ensure performance up to 500 MHz:
• Improved termination method reduces untwisting of the wire
conductors to preserve NEXT performance
• Re-tuned connectors and patch cord plugs to have very low
impedance variance around 100 ohms
• Consistent twist rates ensure electrical transmission
throughout the channel is more balanced
• Highly concentric conductors improve return loss and
attenuation performance
• Larger diameter copper conductors improve signal
strength throughout the channel Patent-pending enhancedGIGA-TX ™ Technology

TX6 ™ 10GIG™ Shielded Copper CablingSystem Performance
The PANDUIT ™ TX6 ™ 10GIG™ Shielded Copper Cabling System supports a 4-connector channel up to100-metres and exceeds the electrical channel requirements of the 10GBASE-T Draft amendment toIEEE Std. 802.3an up to 500 MHz.
The TX6 ™ 10GIG™ shielded solution also supports the electrical channel requirements of the draft workingproposals of TIA/EIA 568-B.2-AD10 and ISO 11801Class E Edition 2.1.
PANDUIT has designed the TX6 ™ 10GIG™ Shielded Copper Cabling System based on straight extrapolationof the ISO 11801 Class E electrical requirements up to 500 MHz whereas the IEEE Draft Std. 802.3anstandard has a relaxation in the slope of the electrical specifications starting at 330 MHz for NEXT andPSNEXT. This is the most stringent requirement of standards today ensuring the highest performing systemon the market.
10 Gigabit performance requires a system solution with eachcomponent contributing to optimal channel performance.
PANDUIT Systems Deliver Exceptional HeadroomThe test results shown are based on a 4-connector channel configuration exclusively utilising TX6 ™ 10GIG™
Shielded Copper Cabling System components.
In full-duplex environments where data is transferred in both directions at the same time, PSNEXT andattenuation are important parameters in distinguishing the wanted signal from unwanted noise generated atthe near-end.
Power Sum Alien Near-End Crosstalk (PSANEXT)
The digital signal processing (DSP) electronics that drive Ethernet over today’s cabling systems havelimited capability for suppressing alien crosstalk in a 10 Gb/sec Ethernet environment. In order to achievea 10 Gb/sec data rate, alien crosstalk must be compensated for within the cable, connectors and patch cordsof a cabling system, thereby achieving end-to-end system integrity and performance.
PSANEXT is the sum of alien crosstalk noiseat the near end that comes from neighbouringcables. When the signal between the noiseemitting and receiving pairs egresses onecable boundary and crosses another cableboundary, the noise becomes alien crosstalknoise. This effect of alien crosstalk isminimised in shielded cables, as the signalscannot readily pass through the shield.
When this concept is taken further and eachpair of the cable is shielded, the noisereduction is maximised, both between pairswithin the cable and from neighbouring cables.

Power Sum ACR is the difference betweenthe total unwanted internal signal coupling(PSNEXT) from a transmitter at the near-endinto a neighbouring pair also at the near-endand the attenuated signal strength after lossin the cabling system.
In full-duplex environments where data istransferred in both directions at the sametime, PSNEXT and attenuation are importantparameters in distinguishing the signal fromnoise generated at the near-end.
Power Sum ELFEXT (PSELFEXT) is the ratioof the amount of signal coupled onto a fourthpair at the receiving end when the three otherpairs are transmitted, relative to the attenuatedsignal strength at the receiving end of thepowered signal. Simply, PSELFEXT is ameasure of the total crosstalk that is seen atthe receiving transmitted signal.
In the full-duplex environments of 1 and10 Gigabit Ethernet, PSELFEXT is an importantparameter in distinguishing the signal fromnoise generated at the far end.
Return Loss is the ratio of the amount ofsignal that is reflected back at the transmitterrelative to the original signal sent due toimpedance mismatches in the cabling system.Reflected signals in a channel can also distortthe data signal from both the transmitterand receiver.
PANDUIT has centred all of the componentsaround 100 Ohms to minimise reflections andmaximise signals at the receiving end.
