Project Location of Design Modifications
TxDOT I-635 East Project SPRING 2020
Original Schematic Proposed Changes
HIGHLIGHTS:
Eastbound and Westbound I-635 Frontage Roads at Garland Avenue and KCS railroad track will be made at the same elevation as the I-635 mainlanes, eliminating the railroad underpass structures
Garland Avenue would be maintained at an approximately the same elevation, instead of a depressed roadway identified in the approved schematic
Added loop ramps
New location and traffic movement of U-Turns
Switch signalized intersection at Shiloh Road and the westbound frontage road, into a jug-handle like connection

Garland Avenue Interchange – Proposed Design Changes
Elimination of 2 railroad underpass structures at EB
& WB I-635 frontage roads just east of Garland Ave. & KCS Railroad track. Frontage roads will be same elevation as proposed mainlanes in this area.
Loop ramps added to the north and south of I-635, replacing at-grade signalized intersections in the approved schematic.
Loop ramps to provide connection from EB frontage road to Garland Ave.
West-to-East traffic movement no longer via a U-Turn lane, but
instead maintained through the proposed loop ramp.
New East-to-West U-Turn moved approx.
1000 ft. to the west of Garland Ave.
At-grade signalized intersection at the WB frontage road to replace jug handle
connection from Shiloh Rd.
Garland Ave. & Shiloh Rd. maintained at same existing elevation, instead of
depressed roadway design.
Entrance ramp from Garland Ave. to EB I-635
mainlanes shifted approx. 1000 ft. to the east.
EB I-635 exit ramp to Northwest Hwy. shifted approx. 300 ft. to the west.
